This was too far down on the page and I panicked. *cough*

Am I the only one who wishes I could keep Solas in his default equipment? I know there are schematics that have added armor and such but I just really love his default look. He looks awesome in all of them but I like the 'unassuming' look the best. And for some reason I always have to keep him in green or it bugs me.

There is an invisible armour mod if you're on PC.  It will make everyone go down into their Skyhold gear, though.  Or you could use invisible Halamshiral outfit and craft him a set.  It's one of the best mage armours in the game and would allow him to travel around with his default look but decent stats.

Same here, I love the apostate hobo look. I usually craft him an apprentice coat for the sligthly higher stats, combine it with an elven cowl, and keep them as his armor as long as I can. I like him in both green and other earthy tones.

Later in the game, I buy the Robes of the High Keeper from the Dalish camp and give it to him, even though my Lavellan is also a mage. I like to imagine she's buying it for him as a present.

Nah, the fancier the better, IMO, though that's for everyone ;)  And considering that Inquisition keeps engaging with stronger enemies as time progresses AND has reputation to uphold (one of the first things he tells to IQ is that posturing is necessary, and since he actively represents Inquisition...), I think it would be strange if he kept running in his basic gear... Ironically, at some point he'd start sticking out like a sore thumb if he wore it.

"Say, who is this elf running around in that shaggy green vest among all those soldiers in lustrous plates and silks?" xD

As for color - greens (dark one especially), browns, grays, silvers, black (well, as close to black there is), whites, occasionally blues and teals - I use all of them, depending what I think is fitting. Colors I usually avoid for him are reds, yellows and everything in between. Not much purple as well :P Or any color/color combination that's way too flashy.

That's exactly how he ends up looking in my playthroughs on purpose! :) I would use the Winter Palace Formalwear schematic and craft the same uniform for everyone except Solas. So you see a party walking in the field, everyone in the official Inquisition Elite Forces uniform, except for the weird elven mage.

I like to imagine him as the type of guy who would stubbornly keep wearing his favorite clothes no matter how worn out or inappropriate they are.

Inquisitor: Solas, your outfit... Did you make it yourself?

Solas: Yes.

Inquisitor: The craftsmanship is... unconventional. Also, your coat has seen better days. We need to get you better gear.

Solas: I have specifically designed my gear for optimal durability and channeling the raw energy of the fade.

Inquisitor: Well, this might be high fashion in the fade, but it's inappropriate for a member of the Inquisition. You need to wear the uniform.

Solas: It is also incredibly snuggly.

Inquisitor: *sigh* Okay, how about you wear these ancient elven robes... You know, in the name of Arlathan?

Solas: Hm... I will have to consider.

This has nothing to do with what you said nor with Solas. I just wanted to say that your name takes me back to undergrad and the many dead flies I'd see whenever I closed my eyes. Oh, dumpy gene, the memories.

Thanks! I think? I never thought dealing with the dead ones was too bad, but dissecting them (under a microscope, so they look gigantic) takes some getting used to. Oh, well, it's for the good of mankind and better understanding disease and such. Plus, flies are fascinating creatures.

Haven't worked with dumpy, but hooray for crazy fly gene names. My favorite one is the happyhour gene.

Sorry I unleashed the nerdiness, everyone. It won't happen again!

Dropping this, sorry if it's already made its way here:

Spoiler

In relation to gif/question in spoiler, can anyone else imagine Solas being quite distrustful of our Mabari if we ever had one in Inquisition?

(I realize the story Merril is talking about is probably not true, but it's too silly an idea for me not to love it. xD)

Was spying on checking out the Cassandra 2.0 thread and ran into this  :bandit:

Solas thread was pretty off topic last time I was active there, to the point that people actually split off to a new thread because people got all whiny about it. Then they went back to falling in the "hellspiral" or whatever. Seriously, how can people still be actually depressed over a fictional character this long. Jesus.

YOU SEE. I TOLD YOU. I TOLD YOU HE WAS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Is anyone actually depressed, like, IRL? I figured most people were still hanging around because they are just eager to see WTF is going on and if there will be some resolution or closure to the romance and/or the story of Solas.

Speculation runs dry as time passes, but of all the companions, there's a heck of a lot to wonder and speculate about when it comes to this particular fellow. I guess that's why the "spiral" continues. Also there being the handful of people who finally got around to doing the Solas romance and wander in all fresh and new from the breakup. So... shrug? Let them be sad I guess. It's an emotional scene. But I doubt anyone is really sobbing their heart out in the real world over it, even if they jokingly suggest so here from time to time.

I wasn't full-on depressed but I was very sad for a few days after I was done playing my canon playthrough. It wasn't actually because of the breakup, it was in part because of how sadly things ended for Solas in general, and mostly because the story was over. I always have that reaction when I'm done reading a great book or watching a great anime, regardless of the ending. You've just experienced this beautiful story and it's over for now. It always leaves me with this sense of emptiness but it fades after a while.

But even if someone is truly depressed and for a long period of time, so what? Emotions are nothing to be ashamed of and they don't have to make sense.

Na, i can get misty-eyed over a good book, movie, game etc. but it doesn't actually affect my general mood. I'm waiting for this like I would wait for the next part of a book series or the next episode of a tv show. I want to know what happens, see where everything leads and how it ties up. If Bioware announced "We're not doing anymore Dragon Age video games ever. The franchise stops here. Soz." I'd be pissed, cause like anything, I hate leaving things half done and without explanation. But then I'd move on and be forever wary of Bioware's products.

That hasn't been announced, so I'm waiting around with the hopes that we get a bit more for the game. As the mentions of further DLC hasn't been shot down by Bioware, I'm confident that something will be coming. Whether any of it address Solas however, is in the hands of fate (or the DA writers, more specifically).

We joke a lot, we share art and things that can make people feel something, but in general we're in a DLC drought and the last time he was active was months ago. The whole other thing about people leaving, also months ago. We've had new people join and we're overall a pretty relaxed group. People come and go, it's the nature of forums.

If it continues to be fun to stop by, I do. When we do finally get DLC or something new, things will spike again for a bit.

Hellspiraling (for me at least) is just part of the fun of being a Solasmancer.  It seems there's a sort of running joke in the DA fandom that you shouldn't romance the mage as the levels of betrayal get progressively worse.  Crying over Solas is the new Morrigan Disapproves or Dammit, Anders.

Oh Colonel...I am so disappointed in you.

Meh..anyway...  I was never depressed or cried or anything. I just love the story. When I love a story I will always love it.  I enjoy the conversations in here and sharing art. That is why I am still here after all this time.

We don't really got off topic often..and when we do..it doesn't last that long. I dunno what he was smoking when he wrote that.

I had a thought and this could be really interesting. Okay so all the companions have tarot cards based off the major arcana. Even several of the romance cards are based off the Major Arcana. In fact the only cards not based off the Major Arcana are Coles, Vivienne's and your Advisors (which are based off the court cards). But if you look closely there is one Major Arcana card missing; the Emperor, IV; and just like with Blackwall's personal quest, Solas's card is black out with a diffrent card showing. So what's to say he's not gonna come back with the Emperor as his new card?

I felt the same. Actually, after the breakup I didn't play for almost two days. Since I had been accidentally spoiled on his identity right before I did the temple but didn't expect the breakup, it hit me differently because I knew who he was and thus had a pretty good guess as to reasons and what was going on in that moment. Once I picked it up again after that, I finished the game and it left me with a sadness for a couple of reasons but as with a book or film or series or anything that stays with you, feelings can happen for multiple reasons and last a bit.

Speaking of tarot, does anyone have/know of a high res version of his romance card? I've had it set as my tablet background for 6 months and the image I used wasn't that great so it blurs slightly blown up to fit and I would love to replace it with a crisper one.

Do you know what Coles second card is based off of? I've searched but found nothing except that his first card is based on The Moon.

The Emperor is Celene in the full deck (http://forum.bioware...ers/?p=18447104), so it's doubtful. I'm pretty sure we're done with Solas as a player character.

I think Cole is the Page of X in either of his two alternate cards, depending on his human/spirit choice. Page of .. Staves for spirit!Cole?
