Sooooo, Solas calls us "Inquisitor", not "Herald of Andraste". Interesting.

I do wonder if Solas is a godly man. That he is very religious, believes in the Maker and all that (I surely hope not, coz Leliana and Sebastian is just killing me.)

It's not surprising to me at all. I doubt Solas is Andrastian (at least, I hope he isn't...).

Wait, did we hear him speak in the trailer/gameplay? I must have missed that.

I don't think any of the other companions would call us that either. And we have heard even Cass, a pretty devout Andrastian, call us The Inquisitor, not Herald.

Actually, have you guys seen this?

It's the gameplay part of the demo but it's HQ and YOU CAN TOTALLY HEAR SOLAS. Aaryn is still talking over him but since it's actually good quality you can still catch a little bit of him if you listen for it! His speech bubble pops at 1:39 but Aaryn's louder there so it's kind of garbled... I think he's saying "there it is"? But at like 1:41 you can clearly hear "we should head to the castle" sooo.
FOUR WHOLE WORDS YEAH!
(Plus the blue robe in HQ! He looks even prettier eeeee...  <3)

edit: also static cage looks AWESOME oh man. reminds me of the Qunari AOEs from 2... and those were always getting me killed if i didn't see them coming and/or stood in them for too long. pretty stoked at the idea of having something like that helping me this time, ahh.

In that video quoted above, Elu. If you crank the volume and listen really hard around 1:40, you can hear Solas say, "Inquisitor, we should head to the castle!" And you know it's him talking because there's a little speech indicator next to his screen icon when it's said (and also because you can hear it's Gareth David-Lloyd's voice).

It's probably something the companions do; I don't really see any of them believing the Inquisitor is some sort of gift from the Maker.  I was surprised to hear Cullen use Herald, actually.  Hopefully it was used to inspire the troops rather than him actually believing it.  Maybe someone who is inclined to encourage the savior image could influence advisers/companions who are inclined to believe that way?  It would be interesting to see the people closest the Inquisitor believing that version of the story.

I thought it was noteworthy because everyone else was shouting "Herald Herald Herald" all over the place, even Cullen.

[raises hand] I second this notion.

It's not surprising to me at all. I doubt Solas is Andrastian (at least, I hope he isn't...).

[raises other hand] And also this one.
(aka i would like both of these but hnnnf... likE QUOTAS WHY ARE YOU A THING?)

Bahaha, they seriously shouldn't, given the way I'm bound to behave myself. :D And even my serious characters will still not be Andrastian. Nopenopenope.

That aside, though, I do assume Cullen only used it for the sake of dramatics. We heard one of the patrols address Trevelyan that way, so it sounds like the plebs buy into it... which would give him a good reason to use it to rally 'em in (what sounds to be) a moment of crisis.

That, and he's also an LI. Can't really see even the most devout Andrastian addressing their girlfriend by a title associated with Thedas Jesus, aha.

And on an unrelated note, can I just say how freaking hilarious I find it that spellcheck tries to correct Andrastian into Rastafarian? Omg.

THE RASTAFARIANS. THE RASTAFARIAN RELIGION. CASS, CULLEN, AND LELIANA ARE RASTAFARIANS. [dying]

I would be surprised if the companions really got into the "Andraste's chosen" thing. The random troops and village folk can think what they like about it, but your companions will actually know you and probably be more sensible about finding out what's going on. And with what we know about Solas, do we really think he would fall into the "you're the chosen one" camp?

That is a bit different from companions being religious, which if they are, good for them. I like it better if they are their own people and not perfect followers who think and feel exactly like I (the real world player) would. My characters will have different beliefs based on their race and background, which is why I have a Hawke who is devout and one who can't see the reason to be bothered. My Dalish Warden firmly believed in the elf gods and my dwarf commoner didn't give two spits about ancestors or stones. I love how much we get to switch this stuff up between playthroughs. :D

On the plus side if I name my Inquisitor Harold it would at least give the sense that people knew he had a first name.

But then you would be the "Harold of Andraste", which is kind of... weird.

Andraste had a son with the Maker and named him Harold. Naturally.

I know it probably sounds daft but when I first saw that glowing figure who gives the Inquisitor their power I was reminded of Solas' light sabre staff in one of the screen shots and I thought that may be it was Solas.    Of course that would have to mean that Solas was more than a simple elf apostate but I can't help thinking that he is connected in some way to the light giver.    May be he encountered the spirit in the Fade and was given the mission to help the Inquisitor understand and use their powers or simply to make everyone else see that they need the Inquisitor, Cassandra in particular since she has them in prison.   That pleases me no end because it definitely looks from that scene that he turns up very early on.

Well, one thing I did notice in the swamp demo is that Aaryn's Inquisitor was level 9. It occurred to me that that's pretty low level and Solas (and Blackwall and Cole) are already there. So does that mean they show up early? Or is it just the devs not having to play chronologically? Probably the latter... I got excited for a second, though.  :)

Wasn't the party something like level 7 in the E3 demo?  It's probably that the demos aren't in any sort of chronological order.  Although with only 25-30 levels it might just be possible to find most party members by like level ten, if you know where to find them.

LOL OMG. Ahem. Well then. When you... put it that way... I, uh...
Well I guess we'll leave that one up to the Cullenites pffft hahahah.  :P

I don't recall a level from the E3 demo, though. But yeah, like I said, it's probably them just jumping around. Unfortunately. And I supposed it depends on how fast leveling is in this game, anyway. With a low level cap like that it might be a lot slower than, say, the likes of Skyrim. (I know the way the systems work is totally different but s2g every time I blink I've got a level in that game.) I mean, I think the cap was 30 in Origins too? But I never hit that until the very end of the game. UNLIKE GODDAMN KOTOR. I'm max level there by the time I get to Rakata Prime. A WHOLE PLANET I COULD BE GETTING EX (AND THEREFORE MORE FORCE POWERS) ON, BUT NO. IT'S MADDENING. [tears at hair]

Basically tl;dr is I want Solas asap heh.  :D

edit: Speaking of the demo! I've been going through the frames and have this!

I'm not sure if anyone's posted this yet but I thought, why not. Especially since I can zoom in nicely.
It's very pretty...

Since some people were concerned that the demo/trailers were all that was coming out of Gamescom (whether or not it's new information, we'll just have to see but there's definitely more of something on the way):

I'm doing a live Q&A on Dragon Age Inquisition on the main EA booth stage at 5pm. Come say hi everyone :)

QA will now be at 5:15 I'm told. Lol I have no idea what's planned for this :)

Well that was quick. Couple of questions and I got sent off stage lol.

@Waldo_Pepper75 I've had lots of practice today ;) Feels like I've done around 50 interviews! Me sleepy.

The saga of Cameron Lee's Q&A and another comment about interviews!

So, I'm still painting and I typically have a very "I hate this thing. Why in the world did I do this? This is ugly and God pees on you." mentality halfway through whatever I'm doing.

Well, I'm halfway through with Solas and, suffice to say, I am impressing myself. Don't want to sound like Gloaty McBraggerson over here but...yeah. Pretty pumped!

Anyway. Thought I'd share what I have so far..

[warning: Giant freaking image]

Spoiler

Keep in mind that I'm still shading him so some areas of his body may seem a tad wonky. The one criticism I gave myself was the freaking shoulder in the back. I'm still working on my perspective so...meh.

On the discussion at hand, at the risk of me exposing my nerd, I hope we can choose to go a route where we are pretty much in denial about the religious thing like, "I never asked for all of this!" but we can slowly come to terms with the power we have and how to use it. This would be like Sisko from Deep Space Nine (which is, IMO, the best of all Star Treks). I wonder how complex our decisions can be. I just hope it's more than, "Yes, I am The Herald of Andraste and I believe in everything that represents." and, "Eff off!" *drops everything*.

I like September! It's when college (American) football season starts again and makes my Saturdays much more entertaining! :D

Thank you. I'd give you a like but I've ran out of likes.

Also my Inquisitor will be religious...well because I'm religious and my past Hawkes and Wardens were religious as well. I don't know if Solas will be religious....he's seen a lot of things as he has said so who knows...but if he is cool if not that won't bug me. This "Harold of Andraste" I sometimes play characters who are humble or be a bit bothered by it cause they don't know for sure yet if they are the chosen one so they will be probably like "Yo don't call me that!" lol  and sometimes I play sarcastic but good people and they wouldn't care one bit about it.  :P

I'll just love the irony if all these Chantry people are calling my Dalish mage the Herald of Andraste.   If Solas calls me on it, I'll probably come clean with him and I'd like to be able to say "Don't believe it but sshh, keep it to yourself, this is so much fun!"
