So I am trying to finish up some of my Lavellans before the dlc comes out (Soon) and I just got the break up banter with Cole. Usually I choose the sad dialogue but this time I went for a the angry response as this Lavellan is a bit more fiery. Instead of Solas replying with "You cannot heal this Cole, please let it go" he says "You cannot heal this Cole, please let her carry her anger in peace". This is new to me. Just though I would share. No I will go to my corner and cry.

"... carry her anger in peace". Uh, this is so Solas. I wonder how long he's been carrying every kind of hurt he harbors, he probably thinks of his negative emotions as companions by now. Solas  :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

I really need to get over this "feeling sad for Solas" phase. Does someone have some happy Solas to share?

I need some happy Solas too. I usually just ready some raunchy Solavellan smut, but I have exhausted many of my resources.

Edit: Saved by Cee!

So depending upon the attachment of your Lavellan AND the length of the relationship... You might not care that much. Moreover, you might honestly take it as HIS loss. Not your's. Where is that option!? Where you shrug it off and tell Cole it's not that big a deal? You've dated and loved before. Now is no different.

Well, there technically is "Your loss, a-hole!" angry option in the game, as well as stoic options that basically remove any post-breakup dialogue in Skyhold. Lavellan may also choose to not talk about this further with Cole.

(and there's always IQ breakup option if she thinks that it didn't work at all :P)

But maybe I'm just the lone bird that didn't roleplay virgin!Lavellan who never loved before and will never love again.

LOL, hang on - it's not like there are only two RP options there. Lavellan doesn't have to be a virgin with no decent-sized list of past conquests to not feel that there was something unique about that relationship (and no, I don't mean the fact that she potentially dated an ancient elvhen god :D)

I REALLY wish there was an apathetic option for Lavellan to choose in this situation. Depending upon how quickly you went about the game AND the sequence of his quests, you could have been dating for as long as a year or two all the way down to like.. three weeks. Maybe less. And even then... you might never feel that close to him. He's so closeted about personal information, your Lavellan might wonder just who they're dating months into the relationship.

Nope, you're not a lone bird, but there is an option where she says "Allright, if that's your decision, so be it." He responds, "I'm sorry, I never wanted to hurt you." Then Lavellan can say, "Everyone makes mistakes." It seems like a good middle option to me, it's not exactly an apathetic breakup and she sounds truly hurt, but I figure if she didn't care at all she could've dumped him earlier. She doesn't sound as devastated as if with the most sad option, though, more like someone who's been through heartbreak before, has probably seen the breakup coming given the circumstances and how Solas is, and knows it will be OK eventually.

@Liz - YEAH! I also miss the free-love!playthrough.  I miss the saxual surprises that would pop in Origins...there are none  in DAI.  That's how I roleplay my Lavellan.  SHE DONT GOT TIME FOR YOUR BOUGEOIS HANGUPS!

She would have totally effed Abelas mid-warzone.  0 f***s. 0 f***s given. Solas would have had to be done for a polyamorous relationship. And I think he would have been. I think he would have.

Which options is that? I'm positive I got the post-breakup banter with picking the middle option between angry and sad, but I can't remember if I got the Skyhold dialogue on that playthrough. Then again, I might've been freaked out if I didn't, thinking I'm being locked out of some future event. I'm at work, so I can't go back to that save right now...

@Drosophila - The stoic option is technically positive as you indicate. there is no middle of the road post-break up banter.  it's just positive.

There's a comic that I saw round Tumblr where Abelas is pointing at Lavellan and doing the whole "you're not my people!" thing. Lavellan subsequently responds by flipping Abelas the bird. This is about what my Lavellan would have done, and while she respected Abelas for who and what he was she had no time for his haughty bull****.

Now, Ameridan? Lavellan would have told Solas to turn around and wait outside if he didn't want to join in too. So I can finally, finally say I get it when people go on about Abelas. Everything is much more clear now...

My Lavellan wasn't virginal either. I still figure she has kids she left with her clan unless the game tells me that's absolutely not possible for some reason. She's been around that block before. Solas was special, but he wasn't everything. Nor should he be.

What about that scene with Iron Bull? Or with Sera?

I do wish there was the option to pursue somebody casually after Solas. I headcanon that Josephine is available for comfort and eager to learn :D

Did anyone get that banter and just....not say anything? I always felt like a Lavellan who's pretty apathetic/has moved on by then could just tell Cole to leave Solas alone, but sometimes if you remain silent the characters will allude to it. idk. Mine wasn't "over" it until JoH because then she has more sh*t to do and don't need no man, but there does seem to be fewer options if she's just like "lol, k." (Though if that's the case I don't see why she wouldn't put the brakes on it the second Solas is like "I WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO MEEE" and bypass the rest of the breakup, either. He actually seems pretty fine with it too in that case.)

Positive? She sounds a bit passive-agressive to me when she's saying it (British IQ voice). But, yeah, no "Meh!" option. I think the logic is that earlier in the scene she tells Solas he is just as special to her as she is to him when locking into the romance. So there has to be some hurt or anger involved in losing him.

I'm talking more like random NPC's.  Like Isabela at the brothel and the potential 4 way.  And I said free-love - so that means everybody. But yah, casual sex.  I'm sort of surprised they didn't do that given how in canon - there are so few hangups about sex especially in Ferelden.  Also, it makes MORE sense with an a no-nonsense Inquisitor who just wants a way to blow off steam but doesn't want to get too involved.

Honestly I would totally have my Lavellan open a rift into a different VG universe to summon Avallac'h from The Witcher 3 if I could. And Eredin. Hell the entire Wild Hunt.  But that's just silly.

Well, there is that noblewoman in Josephine's personal mission, whatever her name and title were... She didn't sound all that attractive, but for the sake of the Inquisition and having a shot with Josephine...

That's what I imagined it would be like before I started the game, that the IQ would get the chance to sleep around with most of the romance options (there can always be one or two that are not into casual sex) and eventually decide to "lock in" the romance with one of them, at which point they can get to know their romantic interest on a deeper, more personal level.

I found it ridiculous that Cullen, and even Sera, would turn down all Lavellan's advances when all she'd done with Solas was basically a kiss on a balcony. I mean, at that point in the relationship, I wasn't even sure if she and Solas are really in a relationship, the only way I knew was because when she tried to flirt with other people they would reject her.

You can enter into more casual sex relationships with Dorian and Bull. Don't do that to poor Dorian though. You also don't quite have to progress Bull's to a commitment either.

So those options are there.

Well, Cullen still had the option to try so I wanted to see what would happen and he then rejects you. So I reloaded. I didn't actually want to, but it was the only person to still have any heart options.

My Lavellan will take time. She has loved and lived through heartbreak before. Some of it has caused tension with her clan and some of it has resulted in her closest friendships, but she's not in any hurry to jump into anything after Solas. Again, her sense of duty helps her, but she is affected for some time.

I don't see how being sad about Solas leaving = virgin Lavellan.

Your comment reminds me of the complaints about Bull's romance (people asking why it has to be BDSM or why they can't be the Dom) and the answer is: that's who you picked to romance.  Lavellan can't be too apatheic (but there are some options that offer what you want that also remove the post-romance Skyhold converstations) because, by pursuing Solas, the game assumes that your character loves him.  By this point you've taken THREE heart options to confirm the romance, after all.  There's also the option to break it off before Solas launches into his botched confession (which suits an apathetic Lavellan as it's fairly clear he's leading up to a big confession and a not-that-into-him!Lavellan may be 'woah, dude.  Slow down.  I kind of want to bang the sexy Robin Hood guy in the Dales').  That option also gives the ability to go off and seduce Cullen.

I love Dorian and his romance, there's a chance I would've made it my main romance, but I can't get myself to play a male character, so misery with Solas it is.

These are casual relationships at first, but I think as soon as you enter the relationship, you can't pursue any other. You can't just get drunk and try with Bull one night, then go on a date with Cullen, they decide you liked Bull enough to go out for drinks with him again, spend one more night, and then ultimately decide you want to be serious with Cullen. You can't kiss Solas in the fade, realize it's the fade, throw a gasket at him for creepily entering your dreams without your consent, avoid him for a while and casually sleep with Josephine, get that warning talk from Leliana, tell her to mind her own business, then get back to Solas when you're not angry with him anymore. Just so many missed opportunities for great stories... Mostly I feel like you're locked into one linear romance that is essentially pre-defined for each character.

This is very close to how I see it happening for mine as well. She's still on the field with Solas a lot, and I see them eventually becoming friends... Before he bolts, at least.

The Inquisitor actually entered Solas' dreams.  Kind of.  You were dreaming the moment you started speaking to Solas.  That's why he's really surprised that you ask him about himself because it's basically 'wait, the Inqusitor is asleep and found me and all they want to do is make small talk?'

Which means 'Solas dreams about painting his room' is canon.  He's such a dork.

Too bad there's no approval system for advisors, because my Lavellan and Leliana would be at each other's throats by the end of the game, not just because of Josephine.

Is this officially canon? I mean it could happen like that but it could be interpreted in other ways.
