Why? Wouldn't you want to use the Emperor as a puppet?

My Tyrant Lavellan has Gaspard in his pocket. He can do whatever he wants with Orlais.

An idealist probably wouldn't see it that way though.  A tyrant or even pragmatist would love it.

Idealism is great in theory but usually doesn't work so well in practice people being people after all.  Unfortunately I tend to play towards idealism.  And yes it does bite me on the backside on occasion.

*looks at my post* where did I say that's a good thing?  Yes, I would prefer if you could "talk it out".  However, history has proven a million times over that's not likely. Even avoiding making real world analogues - Thedosian history has proven it's impossible.

People don't agree on what's right and what's best.  If a drastic change is needed to shape the world you want to live in then you will have to drag some people kicking and screaming.  Sometimes that leads to wars or internal strife.  Obviously you should try for peace first. But be prepared when it doesn't stick.

This is not a black-and-white issue. Neither in real word nor in Thedas we're limited to purely cynical or purely idealistic approach. And the fact that "most people do things like that/did like that at that time" is not an excuse to keep repeating the same mistake over and over again. One can always take a pragmatic, but still more progressive approach than those before. That's how progress is done after all.

This is all not to say I don't find those world states interesting.  I'm a realist.  I would love to sit down and talk things out over tea, but sometimes they don't work.  And I do think the Orlais choice - though the quest was a bit lacking - is the MOST interesting in the game as it sets the stage politically for the next game and they can be INCREDIBLY different. There is NO right or wrong. There is cons/pros to all the choices.  The celene/briala option is romantic and idealistic to me - its stability relying almost completely on the stability of that relationship which was on the rocks.  Celene - as shown in game - has trouble holding onto power and keeping the nobles in check.  That's always bad. But she is not interested in war. She is interested in peace.

Gaspard - is a realistic option. He will be indebted FOREVER - moreso than Celene - to the INquisitor.  He has a loyal army and is good at war. That is a skill in THAT world.  It is an important skill.  And you have NO idea what's coming. BUt he is expansionist. That has a way of imploding in on itself and causing economic issues in the region.

Yes! Or a HURLOCK wearing a helmet! What else has horns. Qunari? Dragons. Elf-dragons. Elf-dragon Qun masquerading as Dwarves.

PS: the 'border' in Figure C is actually more likely a result of the gradient in the original image, but shhh... don't tell Solas. He's very excited.

Or maybe it has something to do with Solas' attitude about Grey Wardens. Maybe a few got away and started digging in those places where they know Old Gods to be and that caused the seismic activity with their horned helmets.

I'm 100% looking forward to "Dragon Age 4: Anarchy in Tevinter" or "Dorian and the Inquisitor become fabulous rebel magisters"!

Dorian can't be a magister if nobody votes for him. He's a drop out, remember?  nvm, he already an enchanter. Still. not a senior. And he was fired.

Enough with that Orlesian bashing!

Wait a few more years and there will be an Orlesian revolution and elves will behead whoever is on the throne anyway... And eat brioche if they can't afford bread. Except for Solas who will only have frilly cakes.

No, no, I think you're on to something there. I get what you're saying. While they were digging.... they found an Old God and tried to wake it up by poking it (repeatedly) with aforementioned horned helmets. It got angry. Seismic activity ensued. Makes perfect sense to me!

If anyone hears news tomorrow make sure to share it here, too...

For those wondering. ;)

Teaser? Wolf tail? Tarot card? :P

It kinda looks like Varric's ponytail caught in the wind or something.

Or Mike is just really helpful and provided us with a free ink-blot test so we could finally accept that we've gone completely mad.

Most reasonable hypothesis yet, methinks.

Exactly what Elessara said.  My Lavellan sees a chance to get a win for elves and get Orlais in debt to the Inquisition without having to let anyone die.

There's a lot of choices in DAI that don't have a right or wrong answer.  Since Weekes has said he's not good at writing evily evil villians I'm hoping this is something we see more of with him in charge.

It's for them to measure how far we are into insanity teritory. At the sweet spot, they will release the DLC.

No, you're right, I thought about it... I appreciate it's a very serious condition, causing a lot on suffering on patients and their loved ones. I wish more could be done about it. OK, will edit. Do not mean to offend anyone.
