To be perfectly honest, we don't know who is it that Solas really wants to "save"/"wake up" - it's possible those are not Elvhen gods/Forgotten Ones after all.
Maybe those are just a bunch of knowledgeable ancient elves, and only through their combined forces they can summon gods again or... dunno... do something? Or those can just be members of his immediate family. I mean... why not?
Ooooor... huh - what if Solas travels the world in search of elves like liked/romanced Lavellans? He then whisks them away and locks them, to ensure only "quality elves" remain after some sort of apocalyptic event?
Maybe Lavellan was supposed to suffer that fate too, but he couldn't bring himself to do this to her? ;P
I doubt he's elf-napping, and the implications that he'd elf-nap Lavellan to breed back the Elvhenan are disturbing even if it does mean lots of hot sex with Solas. I mean that kind of involves eugenics, and also, kidnapping is not hot. In the case of my Lavellan, he could forget the hot sex part because she'd be too angry with him for hiding her away somewhere!
Going by basic evidence, Solas's actions probably have something to do with the Fade/the Veil, or the Blight, or both. But for all we know, he's out to kill all of the Old Gods, or free them while leaving the elven gods trapped. I'm kind of suspicious that while he doesn't actually want to release the Creators (and probably not the Old Gods either), that might happen as a side effect of whatever Solas actually is doing. Which we don't actually know (and may not know until DA4).
Wasn't it Felassan who said the elves are waiting to rise again, just expecting the humans and the non-immortal elves to make some mistake so they could make a move?
What if we're about to see an elven uprising of the Elvhen, rather than the city elves and Dalish?
(Speaking of which, I really wish we could have seen more of the Orlesian elven uprising, and I wonder if it had spread to Ferelden too...)
