Coffee might just rival blood magic for how badly it affects your connection to the Fade. :P

There must be some truth to that! I only drink coffee when I really need the kick (it's way too easy to become dependent on the stuff as a teacher,) but back at uni when I used to drink it all the time I found I never dreamed as often. Contrast to now, when I have extremely vivid dreams each night. (More so if I've been reading or playing games before bed.)

I rarely remember what they're about for longer than five minutes after waking up, but they do make sleeping an enjoyable pastime.

I'm on the east coast of the US and I am often around and awake until very very late in part due to working independently. I have sort of always been like this. I remember staying up all night as a child and sometimes sneaking out to see the sunrise or to step outside when the bakery would start preparing the morning goods. 4am or so, and it was the most delightful smell.

This bread at 4am and the being up nights actually wove its way into some of my really short Solavellan fics (I made a series called Awake, appropriately enough, made up of short scenes). I headcanon her as having some insomnia (which isn't my issue either) and she finds a small peace in the less-demanding pre-dawn.

My parents sometimes mention how, back when we were still living in USA, they returned late home from work and all they could think of was warm bed, but NOPE - I was most awake during late night ours and considered it the best time to play  Aaaah, I even feel guilty about that till that day^^; Must've been quite a nuisance, but it does show that I've been like that even before clearly remembering things.

Also, the smell of freshly baked bread and other goods is one of the most delightful smells in existence, IMO. If I'm lucky to pass the bakery (and I know a few that bake goods basically 24/7) I just stop for a moment to enjoy it  ^_^

I am having an Earl Grey blend at 1am, so I may just make the EA conference after all. I'd choose something without caffeine but I really want Earl Grey now. Power of suggestion.  :P

Coffee might just rival blood magic for how badly it affects your connection to the Fade.  :P

I drank entire bottle of Coke Zero (with lemon juice!) during the night just to keep myself awake. Now I feel I need something stronger to withstand till 10 AM so I'm about to drink a cup of strong coffee.... with milk, cinnamon syrup and birch sugar ;P

As for Solas and coffee... I wouldn't be surprised if he deemed it the evilest thing ever and intended to lock all coffee in existence in deepest recesses of the Abyss

I have like... periods of vivid dreams sometimes and I'm not really sure what triggers it (I can sometimes trigger dreams by thinking about something before sleep, but periods of vivid dreams seem to happen spontaneously).

It recently happened to me as well - lots and lost of colorful dreams I either half-remember or only remember that I've had them... predominantly because I woke up and thought to myself "God Almighty, that was WEIRD!".

So this friend of mine that I gifted me a copy of Life is Strange in thanks for introducing him to Mass Effect and Dragon Age. I figured I'd play it during this DLC dry period and it would make the waiting period easier.

SUCH A HELLA GOOD IDEA CADDIUS WOW NO FEEL TRAINS THERE AT ALL EPISODE FIVE ISN'T THAT FAR AWAY AT LEAST IT'S OCTOBER OF THIS YEAR

...Those of you who have played Episode Four will understand my pain.  <_<   :o    :(

At least if something horrible happens to Varric, I'll be too numb from shock to get too distraught over it.

On a side-note, I've heard some people make fun of the game for having dated slang and the like. Well, I happen to be in the same age bracket as Max and company, and in the Pacific Northwest. Every character there talks like someone I know.  It was so surreal to hear the language of my people.

I just bought Life is Strange and installed it. I played more DA2 tonight though. I am watching the EA presentation now but should really be sleeping.

These were fond memories. I found a way to tuck it into fanfiction all these years later.

I would not doubt it. Maybe that's what happened to the other gods. They weren't just blighted, they were *gasp* overly caffeinated

Yeah, no announcements during conference ;( Oh well... the day is still young - I'll keep telling myself till the day they actually ANNOUNCE something -_-

Ungh, time to disperse that caffeine on some stuff I need to do and am conscious to actually work on it.

With their ninja marketing and massive teasing today? Everything was possible.

I was watching as well. Nada! Though maybe that's why Laidlaw shared what he did yesterday/today. He knew we wanted something, but knew the conference wouldn't help. ;)

I watched because I happened to be up much later than expected. I thought maybe there might be some sort of announcement but aside from the Sims 4 expansion, everything we've seen before. This is atypical Gamescom

But yes the DA team said there was no presence there and all the teasing is still a good sign for DLC!

It's okay.  Everyone is fine.  Everyone is alive.  Everyone is happy.

Episode four was a horrible dream and episode five is Max, Chole, Kate, Rachel and Alice on a picnic.

I find the teases ineffective. I don't know. I don't understand their marketing strategy.

Yup, it's been so long, since I've played the game, Jaws of Hakkon wasn't very good imo and they've annoyed me recently with cutting off last gen and the armour dlcs. Plus a certain other rpg has broken into my house and ridden me off into the sunset on a chestnut mare named Roach.

A few squiggly lines that sort of look like half a griffon if you squint, isn't really going to change that.

Need explosions and loud noises asap.

Punaise! So much negativity and judging of others on the twitter thread since the end of the EA conference! Makes me want to step out for a while even though I want to keep up with the news.
At least we still have our blanket fort here...

Why does Bioware have to go to Gamescom to release something today? They can release something today without a Gamescom presence. People think that because they said they wouldn't be at Gamescom (which I don't doubt), that nothing could be released today and I beg to differ. They could release whatever they wanted today and it have nothing to do whatsoever with Gamescom or any other convention.

I myself enjoy a good cup of hot tea every now and then. My favorite is Earl Grey. Hot. :P I really like the bergamot in it.

Cinnamon is good. Oolong is excellent near room temp after a meal. Hibiscus yum! White Peach, black, and green is great when cold and so is wild mint (used to pick it in the woods during the summer when I was a kid).

Catnip tea is blech....    A friend of mine once got whole Egyptian Chamomile flowers and we made tea with them. It was delicious!

One thing I don't like is cream/milk in tea unless it is chai. Lemon is ok but I feel that it ruins the delicate flavour.

I also enjoy a glass of iced tea and a cup of coffee (Columbian ftw!) regularly.

Annnd....

Always! Uh, it's a teacher/student AU... Kind of disturbing for me, I don't really like to read that kind of story because... I'm a teacher! But on the other hand it makes me think of that Police song, and I love Sting...

Can anyone here explain why Solas goes barefoot ? The topic of footwear came up in Leliana's thread (obviously) and there seems to be very little reason for Elves to to barefoot.

I understand the "closer to nature" argument. Moving around barefoot is not impossible. I am from Southeast Asia and I did it when I was younger during training for cross country events. My family could not afford fancy running shoes back then. I have also seen long distance runners with Southeast Asian aboriginal origins who run barefoot or wrap some sort of cloth around their middle part of their foot and do it. Even my parents, who are both long distance runners themselves, ran barefoot when they were young, back in the 70s. Mostly due to financial constraints.

But if you move barefoot during cold harsh winter or during combat situations, it will just result in an epic fail. You will just get cold feet.

Personally, I think ancient Elves, Dalish Elves and Solas should wear ornate slippers or sandals. That offers some form of protection, still gives the "closer to nature" vibe.

Solas + ornate sandals. We need some artwork.

Design choice to be more 'elfy' I guess.

Even their armour doesn't have boots. Could you imagine fighting against a fully armoured knight, then he steps on your toes?

No wonder the Dales fell.

Ever notice that he's the only one that doesn't make footprints in the snow?  I noticed that when he wanted a moment to talk to her and told her what that ball was in Cory's hand and looked for it in a second play through. No footprints.  Nada, Zip.  Also, everyone else's shoes kick up a bit of snow when they walk.  He walks on top of the snow, completely without disturbing the snow at all.
