Maybe Kal-Sharok dwarves don't like you moving around on their territory and attack on sight?
..although tunnel-collapsing seems to be their primary method for eliminating unwanted attention.

SABLE!
I've tried to keep the hellspirials going in your absence.
Unrelated to Sable and DLC:
Felicia Day has said that she'd love to come back to Dragon Age at some point.
On topic: what do you guys think Solas would make of Talis?
Yay hellspirals! I finally managed to crawl out of it (and the general DA hellspiral) but all it takes is DLC to make me poke my head back in ![]()
As for Tallis...I dunno. I liked her as a concept. But at least in-game, she was basically Felicia Day in Thedas, which broke the immersion pretty hard for me. As for Solas, I think he would have mixed feelings about her at best. She does generally believe in the Qun, which he despises, but she also has enough of her own opinions to question the Qun and even go against it, which I think Solas would respect.
The blue lyrium connection would still be odd, though. Corypheus and co may be darkspawn to some degree- they share the taint- but from all appearances, they don't seem to have any significant control over others of their kind. That's a point stressed pretty hard in DA:tC with the Architect and kind of intuited in DAI, since otherwise Corpheus would have been able to overwhelm Inquisition forces with an army of infinite darkspawn. Instead, there's barely a trickle- just the remnants of the last blight.
How would the blue lyrium be odd? They would have started out as normal dwarves, with their taint being somewhat similar to grey wardens. Corypheus does have control over the Blight, at least in a blighted individual. He mindwashes those Carta dwarves in Legacy and the wardens in DAI.
As for the Architect, he seemed more interested in freeing the darkspawn from the control of the Calling. That might have been a moral choice on his part, rather than a lack of capability.
Hope we get lots of lore and further revelations as to exactly what Lyrium is, how it's formed (I mean, the red stuff is, as Cole points out, made of people) and all the messy connections it seems to have with everything else in Thedas. I'm in two minds about buying it right away or leaving it a few days after release to get a view from others. I'm also soooo glad I'm upgrading my pc. I'll soon be playing this game on across-the-board ultra and I frankly cannot wait.
Maybe the lyrium in the green leafy underground we see is punching a hole through the veil and is creating a memory of a forest? But thereby making it real? That'd be some powerful trippy stuff... ![]()
Goddamn shrieks. On one hand I am glad to see them back, b/c it's not Dragon Age without them and ogres, but on the other hand, nuuuuuu this is going to be bloody frightening and I want my warden to hold my Inky's hand.
I'll probably do two runs, one with my pre-WPHW elf-mage and bring Solas, Blackwall and Varric, and then my post-game elf-rogue with Cole, Cassandra and Bull.
Yes! That's their name (I totally forgot). Maybe it's my imagination going wild, but I feel the little redesign since DA:O makes them resemble Solas' outfit -- which might have been the bomb back in Arlathan days? Hobo chic? Not just hundreds of years of digging in the dirt being gross and undead. So you know. I'm headcanoning these as an ancient elf/uthenara elf became a brood mother. Not just normal every day Dalish elves. That'd be boring. But that doesn't explain the Tevinter-looking armor... I guess I might change that then. Elves escaping fallen Arlathan and fleeing the throes of Tevinter hoped to find solace in the deep roads... and had a very bad time of it. If this is already canon I totally missed it. :>
... and I get chills already thinking what if the wooded area underground in the Deep Roads is elfy, and it's flooded with the dreaded things? Yes I know. I jump to speculation way too quickly xD
Edit: relevant!

*cue grumbles about stupid sexy hobo elf* I WAS OVER YOU DANGNABBIT
While I really like how much elven lore we've gotten with Inquisition, I think the dwarves deserve some serious love. There have been a lot of ominous rumblings, but no real delivery on the dwarves, and I'll be a little sad if the basic story is "Elves are behind everything."

I'm hoping we will get a little connection between the two that makes everything relevant :3
Also, I wonder where the Decent begins? It's probably a brand new area, but I'd be super happy if it started around that mine in the Western Approach where there may or may not be a sleeping Old God.
Western Approach is plausible, but Storm Coast would be a safer bet.

...huh? The Carta dwarves weren't blighted, were they? They were swayed by the song of red lyrium, from what I remember- the element Corypheus does have control over.
Backing up a bit, it kind of looks like this to me: we have silver lyrium (the pure blood of the Earth = Potential), blue lyrium (the original Song of Creation = Order), red lyrium (the Sundered Song = Chaos) and green lyrium (something, something, ME3 Synthesis, Veil, Balance, blah blah). In that light, blighted entities using blue lyrium would be... weird. And hard to explain.
Re: the Architect, it's not a matter of intent. In DA:tC, he's barely able to keep other darkspawn from actively attacking him, never mind being able to control them en masse.
It would be kind of bizarre for the Inquisition to fight Kal-Sharok dwarves, though- particularly since this could come before we do their war table missions. My hunch leans more toward a new line of sentient darkspawn via the Architect.
And while we shouldn't be that surprised to find things growing in the deep roads (considering much of the Dwarves' lost domain had been used to farm food) I'm dying to find out what this is:
Spoiler
It looks, for lack of a better phrase, hella elfy.
I am wondering if this is Cadash Thaig- remember in Stone Prisoner Cadash Thaig was all green and had trees like this - then in Witch Hunt when you go to claim the Lights of Arlathan you find the codex entries stating that the Cadash clan had offered refuge to those elves fleeing Arlathan (which is why you fight elven sentinels) which is why everything is green and there are trees etc, and that Kal Sharok had attacked Cadash fearing that offering assistance to the elves would bring the Tevinter Imperium down on their heads--the Cadash Inquizzy is a member of Cadash meaning that this probably resulted in them being exiled to the surface. Next playthorugh - dwarf inquisitor either Bull or Sera mancing this time.. of course I will probably end up an elf quizzy with Solas again- the only thing that really seems to change is my appearance and class
Kal Sharok dwarves are connected in some way to the Blight. If there is indeed a new Magister for us to meet (or perhaps the Architect?) it could be they were taken over like the Carta dwarves Corypheus used.
We know they are really secretive and defensive, I'm hoping they just don't like the Inquisition poking its nose in their business.
Last thing I want is for Kal-Sharok Dwarves to become mindless bad guy Red Templar clones. ![]()
*too much excitement for today*
*goes to focus on her warrior Trevelyan playthrough*
.....I wonder how many forum pages I'd have to read after I'm back xD

Agreed. From what little we know of them, they sound like pragmatists to the point of ruthlessness, but not bad guys. And I think if anyone is likely to know the deep secrets of the Stone, the Blight, and how lyrium connects it all, it's them. They just might not be willing to share that knowledge with the Inquisition.
Hmm.
Go into furious hellspiral from Life is Strange. (At least until Illyria pointed out the truth to me.
)
Sable appears.
Coincidence?
I have it on good authority* that this is what episode five is going to be like.

Elves do not live underground ? Tell that to the Dwemer of Elder Scrolls and the Drow of Dungeons and Dragons. I believe in DAO, Hahren Paivel mentions that the Elves were once as varied and diverse as the shemlen. What's more, we know that some Elves fled into the Deep Roads after the Tevinter invasion.
As for this DLC, I don't know about you people but it is giving off a very strong vibe of Alftand & Blackreach in Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Especially that shot of the underground place reminds me a lot of Blackreach with the glow. Please no glowing mushrooms, Bioware. Tired of those.
As for Dwarven lore, I think we might be dealing with "The Stone lives under the Orlais" thing. I suspect that we will indeed go to the Orlesian part of the map this time around, with Jaws of Hakkon taking place at the Ferelden-Orlais border. I also think we might deal with the actual ramifications of lyrium being something that is alive. There is a shot of a bunch of Dwarves with glowing eyes wearing Legion of the Dead armor. They look blighted, most likely from Kal-Sharok.
My team for this dungeon will be Solas, Cole, Blackwall and Lavellan. The Champion specialization with its Waking Fortress looks to be invaluable against Ogre grabs. RIft Mage with its massive area of effect and crowd control spells can do some serious damage in a internal dungeon style environment that has many choke points in it. Lastly, Cole comes with the Mark of Winning Mark of Death, Stealth and general Rogue stuff. Cole doesn't mind being anywhere except the Fade. Solas is okay with being anywhere as long as there is knowledge in it. Blackwall likes fighting darkspawn.
As for the rest, Varric will complain too much about being in the Deep Roads again. Dorian complains if he is not in a tavern or a library. Iron Bull might be cool with Dwarves, because Mayhem so he can be a potential backup. Sera doesn't like the Deep Roads either. I don't know how Cassandra feels about the Deep Roads but I doubt she likes the place.
So Blackwall, Solas, Cole & Lavellan.
Elves do not live underground ?
Well, there's always that - http://dragonage.wik...ki/Cadash_Thaig

That's the first thing I thought about!
Also - more glowy things!

They were indeed tainted in Legacy.
As for the use of blue lyrium (silver lyrium? what's that from?) It's not so much that they using it as a power source. It's more that lyrium is used in the runecrafting on their armor, which suggests a higher capability than even sentient darkspawn posses. I never read the Calling, but the awakened darkspawn in DA:A still seem fairly crude.
Dear Solas Thread,
For old times sake, can I haz super science theories again on Titans, stone, lyrium, etc. Because that giant effing profane looks interesting.
Love,

We can try lighting the Madrar beacon.

Are we talking Gondor or Batman beacon? I think either would work for her. ![]()

I was thinking the opening scene of Mulan.
Just saw the new DLC trailer, and I'm super hyped about it but... Please tell me it's gonna connect to Solas ._.
Hi Ave! Lemme dig through my stuff... >.>
