Omgosh so much happened in the past few pages!!! Tea, DLC, magic vs technology, dong, cheese, and Dumat. Observing the natural flow of conversation is fascinating.
Um.
So.
Apparently the Claws of Dumat are present in the Primeval Thaig. According to the Primeval Thaig's wiki entry.
Anyone have any idea what to make of that?
I think we discussed this around when I first popped in, and we were torn between possible yet-to-be-confirmed connection, or re-used assets? I know some people will be keeping an eagle eye out for these things the further we delve in to the Deep Roads next week!
Boy does it. Cheese in particular. I always wonder what kind it is. I'm partial to Brie, but a good Stilton with fruit in it is nice too.
I enjoy a good camembert.
I'm not sure just what I came back to, but I read through that and take away 'cheese' and 'tea' and maybe I should make a cup.
The type that would earn Solas' disapproval.
Pretty much, yeah! Haha.
Tea? You rebel against that Fade Nerd abandoning Lavellan and the Inquisition in whatever way you deem appropriate, Cee. In fact I may join you.
This may be late in the game but I feel like we're all on this thread like...
I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed this post.
LOL, fair enough. I like blending and twisting genres, so things like medieval stasis drive me nuts. As for Avatar, as long as the bones of the setting are still recognizable to me (the bending of elements, the Avatar as a spiritual bridge, etc.), I'm fine with changing it up. I tend to suffer from the opposite problem where if the setting stays relatively too static for too long, I get bored with it. Hence, hoping that Mass Effect: Andromeda will shake things up a bit.
Magic and dragons and unicorns don't exist, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're immersion-breaking. At least for me (and maybe for Caddius too), what breaks immersion is the nagging feeling that the setting doesn't live or breathe or change. It's part of my beef with Warhammer 40k, despite how hilariously fun I find the setting.
I really look forward to seeing some world shattering stuff happen next game. The set up for the basis of religion (and civilization) is set up really well, and I just want to pull the jenga piece that makes it tumble. Then see where the pieces fall.
But as to the whole technology convo that happened, I would be OK if ages down the line they didn't improve all too much. Because they really do kind of cannibalize each other in Thedas... they are so busy conquering and killing and being destroyed by Darkspawn half the time, it'd be very difficult for leaps and bounds in science/magic to happen. Especially if Gaspard sits on your Orlesian throne!
Slightly off topic: the whole Avatar evolution in technology and lesser focus on bending (magic) as a way of life threw me. They sure did embrace change quickly, and oddly enough people's bending powers seemed to be more impressive than I think they deserved to be, considering Aang's era was more bending-focused. It was fun and all, but I think the creators just really wanted to put steampunk in there. I think it happened too quickly, considering. But... -shrugs-.... gotta roll with the punches.
Wow... okay, everyone, I'll just go away and not bring this up again, even though I was just joking around...
Forums are meant to bat things around! Even Solas' junk, apparently. Knew you were joking, don't worry. xD
