Before I played JoH I thought it would be a mildly interesting new map that just had some more enemies to kill and some minor cool things thrown in for flavor. Instead, it offered lore, history, insight on the Avaar, and a look at the original Inquisiton and the eventual erasure that was placed upon it and the people who led it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it managed to tie all things together, and for that reason alone I am expecting Descent to be more than just a few hours of fun. I also expect it will offer us plenty to discuss and speculate on. Not about Solas, sure, but there's bound to be a heck of a lot of other stuff that makes up Thedas and that has had our interest since Origins.
Tuesday will be all kinds of fun.
This is what I'm expecting too. I mean, obviously the way it is being framed is a long, deep, difficult dungeon into the Deep Roads with some story to go along with it. But we've had multiple Deep Roads/dwarves hints and things that have already gotten our lore senses tingling, and as JoH offered Avvar-centered storyline and location, there were many parallels and some lore bits that lead us somewhere else, as well as several elements that lead to more questions and even maybe turn some ideas we had around. So I am not going to have any real expectations built up but I'm looking forward to coming and discussing it with you all.
