@Habits  - Possibly. We know from Morrigan that it's not easy. You have to study and mediate about the animal you want to become. Watch it carefully until you can "slip into its skin" so to speak. It may be something that came easily to him. More than others.  It felt natural.

This is what I'm expecting too. I mean, obviously the way it is being framed is a long, deep, difficult dungeon into the Deep Roads with some story to go along with it. But we've had multiple Deep Roads/dwarves hints and things that have already gotten our lore senses tingling, and as JoH offered Avvar-centered storyline and location, there were many parallels and some lore bits that lead us somewhere else, as well as several elements that lead to more questions and even maybe turn some ideas we had around. So I am not going to have any real expectations built up but I'm looking forward to coming and discussing it with you all.
 

Being as it is the Deep Roads, I am going to be obligated to search every damn nook and cranny of that place... so I am also dreading it, as I know it will take a considerable amount of time.

I am really looking forward to the lore bits too. Also, I feel as if DA:I's map quests threw us a couple bones but left the main courses for later: the Avvar, the Dwarves, the Executors. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a bit of all three pop up for our DLC (well, Avvar is crossed off the list, and now probably Dwarves). 

I don't know if it's possible, but I also hope for a few more one on one cut scenes with comrades and LI's? Maybe that's asking for too much.

The comic does raise a question. Why is Fen'Harel associated with the wolf ? From the lore, we know that the Elven gods can shapeshift into any creature they like. Mythal for instance, is depicted as a high dragon but she can shapeshift into giant serpents.

 

Do each Elven god pick their favorite animal form ? Or is it something else ?

Just an opinion but when a person presents a drawing within a drawing, it's better to draw down so the viewer can see the disconnection from the setting. Glancing at the picture made me think it was a re-enactment of the story rather than a drawing. It makes Cole seem like master-tier artist because the previous panel is in the same style.

I don't think Solas truly loved female Lavellan. I mean, this guy is a god. He has had goddesses tying him up fighting over him. I'm sure in ancient Elvhenan, he would have tapping ancient Elven wenches and spirits alike as well. He only met and knew female Lavellan for over a year or so.

 

Then there is the fact his fear is dying alone. Thing is, he could have stayed with female Lavellan in a loving relationship and not die alone. But he didn't. Which means he has someone else, another Elven woman who satisfies his need to not be alone.

 

Then he goes on to kill one of his oldest friend, Mythal / Flemeth. All because he deems it necessary. He could very well do the same thing to female Lavellan later.

Solas is my favorite companion, right up there with Cole. So I can't hate him. However, that does not mean I cannot raise questions about whether he actually loved female Lavellan or whether he might consider harming / killing her if it means saving the People. The way he disposed off Flemeth in the epilogue...

He did love Lavellan, according to Weekes. Whether Solas would shank her in pursuit of whatever goal he has is something we'll find out eventually, I'm sure.

 

Actually, I hope it doesn't come down to that. It would be boring either way -- ho hum, we have to kill him now, OR yay whee, the power of LURRVV made him stop and change, etc. etc. Nah. Give us something meatier than that, plz.

Yep, and totally understandable from their perspective.

 

In another platform: There is enough people that hate Solas that people on tumblr make up "Solas Positive" week every other week. Then again, tumblr is infamous for being full of offended people that it makes BSN sane. That's saying something.

Hmmmm, dunno about that - aside from the fact that we don't know if those actually exist in Thedas, IMO black panthers are for characters who like to bring more attention to themselves and are more overtly nonchalant/dark/mysterious, rather than mostly unassuming and evasive.

 

And there's something to say about wolves actually being pack animals, who value teamwork and hierarchy. All wolves we encounter in DAI hunt in packs - I think that's saying something.

Some wolves becoming 'lone wolves' may mean that either that hierarchy was disturbed, the wolf wants to strike on its own, there was aggression from pack leader or wolf's family is no more, but still the fact remains that they are social animals, unlike many cats - panthers especially.

 

That Solas is an individualist and walks his own path is indisputable, but he also appears to value family bonds and teamwork, even if he lost faith in teams/organizations, which eventually become corrupted.

 

Plus, there's the whole "not wanting to die alone" thing, which also suggests that he's not as much a loner as it's assumed of him

Still a good topic to discuss  Personally I love symbolism (duh! I'm an artist - symbols and metaphors are my bread and butter) and examining it.

And the fact that given characters chose given symbols or totem animals can tell something significant about them, so that is worth investigating^^

Are you sure that page is satire? Looks legit to me, especially going through the blog's dash. You can usually tell quite easily when someone's trying to fake tumblr stereotypes, they way go over the top and are low on the detail, whereas the posts on the blog contain some pretty legitimate points (e.g. arguing that femHakwe/Anders or femHawke/Fenris is not homophobic - who the hell would think they were, geez).

Exactly. Me too! This is why my other half was so confused as to why I had clocked 300+ hours on my save file while he had completed the game in a few days. We even had this conversation:

Him: Are you really still playing this game?
Me: I'm a completionist, honey, I gotta do everything!
Him: I did everything! I killed all 10 dragons! I even have the achievement to prove it. Did you kill all the dragons?
Me: Of course I did! I also did every single quest.
Him: ....
Me: ...You do know there's more than 10 dragons now, right?
Him: .....

Thank goodness there is a search option + the 'make it an even better search option' perk. Makes the looting and treasure hunting thing all that much easier.

It's very interesting and I would've loved to, I've just had a really tough day, so I can't manage serious discussion right now. But give me all the ideas you'be got!

Anyway... I guess I could mention Solas is a really inspiring character when I'm having a difficult time. I always remember two of his lines: "honor your mistakes" and "wisdom as its own reward".
