Agreed. I'd be 100% down with my Lavellan grabbing his soul wisp if he dies and becoming the new Dread Wolf, but I think I'm in the minority there
#0.0# I would love that!
I mean, not that Solas would die, of course. (That would be heart-breaking!
) But if it's anything like Flemeth described... what was it? "Mythal is as much a part of me as my heart is part of my chest"? And the way Kieran looks if Flemeth removes Urthemiel's soul from his chest, and he asks, "No more dreams?" But then when you talk to him later, he admits that he feels lonely without it. Almost like it was a companion to him.
It kind of sounds like, if you have the soul of a God, you're still mostly you, but there's still a part of them that blends with you, but there's still a part of them that is slightly apart resides close to your heart, but parts of you both still blend together so you don't feel like you're alone. Almost like the Greek myth, about how all humans were once born with two heads, four arms, four legs, and two hearts, and they were so peaceful and happy together that the gods grew jealous of their love and tore them apart so now all humans have only one head, one heart, two arms and two legs, but we always feel something is missing and are looking for our other half, our "soul mate."
Ah! If Solas' story has to have a sad ending and he has to die (darn you Weekes! With your "The story of Solas is not a happy one" and your "I made the Solas romance to make it more tragic"), I could live with it if it turns out that Lady Lavellan can catch his soul wisp as he dies and take it into herself, so even if he'll never truly be the same again, he also won't truly be gone and they won't truly ever be apart.
Ah! Now I'm picturing a beautiful painting of Lady Lavellan in the Fade, looking beautiful, soft, graceful, and ethereal, with a little wolf wisp emerging from her chest and affectionately rubbing its cheek against hers, and her smiling gently and lovingly at the action, and some kind of (cheesy) caption (in pretty cursive or italicized letters) saying something like, "I'll always hold you close to my heart."
Or something like that.
