The translation guy suddenly launched into some 'Tell me about yourself via anon and I'll tell you if I'd date you' thing one day and it went on for days at least and was weird. And he replied to them all in the open.

 

As far as captaincaranis, every post was pretty much screenshots so it's more confusing why it became a target.

The translator guy's goal in translating these is for smut fanfic writers. Sure, totally fine whatever. Fully support writers. Links his blog to everyone who may be interested. But as time progress he used his blog to find chicks, looking to date some anons. People being pissy about it because they followed for translations, he started posting porn on his blog to remind everyone that this is a personal blog, not just a translation. This was when I unfollowed because I came for fan translations. Caught my attention just last month when I found out he was against bioware's CANON elven poem since it didn't align to his own elven translation. Explored his blog even more to see his new fan translations and guess what I found. Dicks. Not just any kind of dick. His dick. He was advertising his porn sideblog. Not any porn blog, a blog full of his own penis and girls roleplaying with him like some daddy kink with elven word for daddy or some shit. It gets worst. These poor naive girls don't know that a penis that has white pimps on it's head means he doesn't practice proper hygiene. 

 

Wait, was there any posts on what kind of anon hate she got? Why didn't she just turn off ask and private messages?

Why do we, as intelligent, independent, strong women, allow ourselves to respond to this kind of nonsense? I wish we would learn to respect ourselves more instead of having to grovel for attention from some unknown **** on tumblr.

Creepy guy is creepy but can we just stop and think maybe I'm better than sending some weirdo Flirty messages hoping...who knows what. That he'll validate you?

I don't know the complete story, but there were two other occasions when posts talking about nasty messages went up and she 'closed' the blog and another time pulled down all posts but left it up. Some people reached out in Russian to see if they could help and I know lots of us sent over some simple supportive messages and reblogged stuff. Then she came back.

 

I don't really understand people starting Tumblr drama, but it's a shame to lose someone contributing positively to a fandom.

I'm checking the blog now and it's gone. So did she come back and disappeared again?

She went away and came back twice but her page did not read as "not found/nothing here" like it does now. It only read "no need to follow" the one time and, she pulled her ss's down. I have no idea what exactly happened with her (I don't have a tumblr to follow), but I got the impression that she was being harassed at the time. It's such a shame because I enjoyed her screenshots.

 

As for that creepy guy; wow WTF? Is that the dude that had a wolf as a pic on his page? Because I came across a DA elven translator a month ago and that tumblr but I haven't gone back since. The sh!t that exists in the dark corners of the intertubez....   It's really telling of what humans are capable of. I'm not really big on social media and that kind of stuff is just one of the reasons why I am that way.

And Sense8, which my boyfriend has been watching.  The consciousness-sharing in that gets used for everything from heroic rescues to intense empathy to mind rape 

 

I dunno.  I can absolutely understand how sharing a body/consciousness/identity can be a deeply creepy concept, but I think it makes for interesting storytelling.  Anders/Justice in DA2 was very distressing to watch, but I really liked it as a story.

 

I have yet to watch Sense8 because I have entirely too much to watch and adding another show would not help. That said, I am catching up on Doctor Who now that the full season 8 has been added so I sort of violated my own rule a bit. But I'm definitely planning to watch as the concept is really intriguing.

 

And Rabbit, well, I was following but tuned out a lot when the creepy date me posts began but I did notice smut things in the translation requests and such. But uh, that's worse.

Personally I like the concept better than the execution, but I'm terribly picky with TV shows and have a ******-poor attention span for them  I can count on one hand the number of shows I've watched in their entirety.

Your writing makes it sounds very romantic, but when I think about actually having Solas partially merge with Lavellan... Dunno, it just sounds weird and icky.

 

I'm with you on this much. Sometimes, I dunno, I feel like I'm the only one that really REALLY doesn't want some weird soul/wisp merging or whatever. I don't think anyone is gonna come out of that the way some of the fandom thinks it will.

This is why I blacklisted his name but whitelisted the "project elvhen" tag, this way I only see the elvhen relevant stuff on my dashboard.

 

I make sure to reblog almost all the elvhen stuff so I can find it again later too (without having to root through his blog).

Good catch Capricorn. I think you're right and that's it. Or at least, some of those shots I am sure I have seen before. Earlier posts were shared via the original tumblr, but later ones weren't... so maybe?

The shards in JoH were much, much easier to find and get to. I'm guessing enough devs played DAI and learned that they were all cruel rat bastards in where they placed them, so made it just a bit easier the next time around. I know I'm never, ever going after those shards in any playthrough ever again. 

 

...someone needs to make a "Skip the Shards" mod. Just have them spawn in a chest outside the temple. Or have them appear in inventory after you've seen them through the skull. Something. Just... never again hopping up and over and through to find them.

captaincaranis also posted a while back that someone what stealing their shots. The additional shots on the Solas-an site are also on captaincaranis Imgur site, which has less hits 0n it than the original Tumblr page. So unless someone had blatantly copied all of their shots, I think it is probably them. Also, some older shots that came down the first time they closed their blog are back up on this new site. I do think they were getting flack via asks or may be submits and not via the reply function when you like or reblog. I had a few conversations with them about their work and it seemed like they have low self-esteem or something else going on for them that made negative comments that much more hurtful.
