I get nervous when I start to think too much. Like, what if we're on the reverse end of the Cole principle? What if Solas truly IS

Fen'Harel, and you're actually like his dream-child or something and so it would be like doing your dad if he and the Inquisitor got down? Or he's simply too old to love and no one would be sophisticated enough for him because we're all like children to him?

I mean, if you look at Twilight--and David Gaider has, which gives me hope that he pushed for an LI like this--or even if you haven't, you still know people love vampires, so an ageless LI is certainly something we would be fine with... but could he love us back?

 

If he could, I would be so thrilled if he were a love interest with some bite. I want to get the chance to sink my teeth into a truly challenging and contentious LI--like Bishop, of whom we were most cruelly deprived by fate and publisher deadlines. (Fenris rivalry and chasing Morrigan's affection were some of my favorite moments in Dragon Age ever.) I want to have to say the right things (within reason.) I want to need to choose my arguments carefully in order to make a case; to impress Solas (and other characters) with my judgment, pragmatism, heart--or whatever it is they like. Especially if I play a human (which I'm resistant to, but the elf/human relationships in this universe have always been SO delicious, which makes it hard to resist if there's any chance we can have Solas.) I just want to have to make a connection between the two characters in order to get the best outcome.

 

I both kind of loved and hated the Alistair thing, because it relied more on your first stumbling choice in the entire game than your roleplay. But if we could screw things up by RPing our Inquisitor as a little too blind in the critical spots, I would love love love LOVE LOVE that! I don't want to be handed my LI. I want to have to prove who I am, earn his trust and respect, stand out from the pack of stock protagonists. I want to be able to RP a PC who is a character in their own right. I want to leave a distinctive mark on the world with each playthrough, if possible. And with Solas, I want to have to be that really smart, tenacious, third-or-fourth-option-taking hero dedicated to making things better in order to impress him and make him think I'm someone different than he's seen before.

 

I would be delighted to need to show Solas that this character is different from most people he's met. That this person really understands who he is, instinctively, and shares his passion for his causes in order to win his interest and convince him this could be a fitting partner. Maybe the only person who can really be that for a solitary figure such as himself.  

 

And I really can't help thinking that if he IS who some of us have been thinking he might be, then he did what he was so hated for simply in order to give the mortals of Thedas the chance to determine their own destinies--and Inquisition is when his prior action is being undone, which is why he is able to help the Inquisitor redo it. I'm still very intrigued as to why the Inquisitor matters, though... but that only leads me right back to the theory spoilered above. Gah! What if they thought Qunari, human, and dwarf were enough variety as LI races go? :/

I think you're thinking too much LOL we'll have to wait and see. I'm finishing Asunder today and yesterday hedge mages were brought up and it was said that most don't live very long, so if anything I'm a bit worried about that.

[HAPPY NOISES] Yes, this is good. Nice to see more combat, and I really like the team selection screen! (I guess that's what the tarot cards in the Inquisitor's Edition are going to look like--sweet!) It seems like Solas might have a case of foot-in-mouth disease.

I liked both his outfits.  It was great to see some different models on him.    I wish they'd taken control of Blackwall for a little bit too though.  He and Cole both had ambient dialogue that I didn't hear at all. =/

 

I'm not too worried about Solas being a hedge mage.  He's mid-forties and has been a hedge mage most of that time, so he's avoided both Templars and figured out some means of controlling his abilities.  He's got the survival thing down pretty well, I think.  And let's hope I didn't jinx it.

Or maybe doesn't care what people think when he says a thing?  Introverted hermiting probably doesn't lend itself to figuring out interpersonal interaction very well.

I also saw Solas using more fire and lightning, and I briefly heard Cameron mention something about Solas and the 'Quiz doing a lot of damage? But I wasn't really listening since the interviewer was asking dumb questions, so not sure if Solas = DPS or maybe it was just a combo/chain situation...

Huh, that's interesting. So we have the tarot cards now, and it seems like it's more than just a stylish thing and each character represent something there. Neat.

IGN showed another part of the demo from Gamescom and talked to Cameron Lee.  I imagine they'll eventually have a video of it up.

This game is so beautiful it will move me to tears. Or maybe that's strange to say about a rainy swamp full of undead creatures.

 

I couldn't really make out what any of the companions were saying. I hope we get a clean video of it later.
