Actually I'm still playing it. I spent several hours killing the alpha emissary because it was stuck in a rock. It was a situation of he can hit you just fine but you can't hit him well because the emissary is inside a rock. 

 

I thought Cole, Cass, and Solas were losing it because they kept attacking a patch of rock in that fight that bugged on me. The enemy appears to be buried in it, because it shows up on the radar but no damage can be done.

 

The Alpha Emissary was a terrible fight for me only because the same three rejects ran off down a corridor and dragged some of the Emissary's friends along for the fight after I finally got them back in the same room to help me kill the thing. That was fun. I'm glad I'm at level cap for this. I salute those souls trying this at less than level 20 or so.

D'aww.  I really like the comic of Solas helping out Cullen.  We don't see the characters interact a whole lot within the Inquisition, though they logically have to.  They live and work together.

So far it seems like Sera and Varric are the chattiest in this DLC.  Welp.  FOUR ROGUE PARTY, AWAY!

The Alpha Emissary was a terrible fight for me only because the same three rejects ran off down a corridor and dragged some of the Emissary's friends along for the fight after I finally got them back in the same room to help me kill the thing. That was fun. I'm glad I'm at level cap for this. I salute those souls trying this at less than level 20 or so.

 

That Alpha Emissary was epic. 

 

I tried a pre end of main game save at level 18 or so, got to the first Ogre Alpha and realized, "Nope, this ain't gonna work." I had to go to a post end of main game save, so no Solas       It's actually good in a way, there are so many feels, because every other minute I think, "I wish Solas were here, I wonder what he would say." It adds more drama to the DLC, this being her first big mission without him.

As for Valta, I think we will hear from her again, but in what capacity is hard to say. If you go to the expedition table after the final battle, the final new expedition mission says that the soldiers and legionnaires heard a cry coming from far inside the Deep Roads and it sounded like no darkspawn or beast they had ever heard before, and they worried it was from Valta and she needed help. You then send troops down to investigate but the path to the Wellspring has been seamlessly covered by rock that they couldn't damage with their picks, and Renn's body had been dug up and was missing.

 

I was very psyched to read those dwarven texts from before the First Blight. They hinted at the darkspawn's origins even more, gave a story from one of the first encounters the dwarves have with them, and teased with an old encounter with a probable magister (a female magister, maybe Razikale's?).

Stay right and you'll get to a chasm, where you'll find a waystone with an Indiana Jones reference. Just walk on air and a bridge will appear to the Nug King. You can find the cheese on the warrens level after doing a table unlock. The cheese will be past the bridge to the right, in a house!

You mean the final fight with the Guardian? I used a save before 3rd solasmance scene and I looked in the codexes.I found the "Guardian" one and the one that mysteriously appeared in a book of Josies.

I don't know if it was just my game or what but when I clicked on the war table to unlock the deep roads, the note you find when you open up all the shard doors in Solasan Temple popped up. Weird.....

So after I was done with Descent, I went out there to that temple (I already unlocked the doors), but there wasn't anything new there.

A glitch perhaps? Or a dev hint?

I took Cass, Solas (pre break-up) and Cole. Cass had the least dialogue. Solas had like 4-5 lines and Cole had about the same as Solas. I don't remember getting any dialogue from Solas about the Fade. Maybe it depends on whether or not he broke up with you?

BTW, does anyone know where the 4th seal door is located? It's the only one I don't have opened yet and I can't find anymore cogs. I think it's the only quest I didn't complete.

3) The third thing we have is how Compulsion seems to be a really big theme in Dragon Age. Darkspawn and compelled by the power of the Taint to seek out Old Gods and corrupt them into Archdemons. Ancient Elves who were branded or marked with a geas or with lyrium tattoos were compelled to serve their masters.

 

I like your theories but I just wanted to point out that one ^

Remember when you go to find Kieran in the Fade, Flemythal says "So long as the music plays, we dance"?
I wonder if she herself is under some sort of geas and if so, to whom?

5) Notice that the Titan only marked Valta as their children. It did not pick anyone else. Varric was not chosen. Cadash was not chosen. Only Valta was. Perhaps this is due to her strong stone sense or perhaps there is a hierarchy of stone sense which translate to a hierarchy of how the Dwarves were linked to the Titans. Could this be the foundation of the Dwarven caste system in ancient times ? The most noble castes are the ones who are most connected to the Titans and were not driven insane whereas the Casteless were the ones who the Titans do not identify as their children.

 

Perhaps the ancient elves had a similar caste system in place and the "Gods/Creators" were the top-tier nobles/mages (like we've been theorizing for awhile)?

Maybe Fen'Harel was in the low tier, got sick of how the 'casteless' were being used as slaves, and freed them. Or perhaps he somehow managed to not be grouped in with the nobles nor the casteless (the in-between God). If so, does that mean his mind and will are strong enough to resist compulsion? Or is he....something entirely different?

Okay, off the topic of the DLC (not reading the spoilers as I've yet to start it) but I noticed when making a new elven mage that I now seem to have a "Dalish" response in some conversations. The option even comes with it's own little Dalish symbol.  I can't remember ever seeing this before and I've played this game a good few number of times now. It came up with the Minaeve conversation, where she tells you about not being very good with magic. There's a response (roughly) of:

 

Quizzy: "It was a shame you were never brought up with the Dalish. You could have learnt to use your magic properly.

Minaeve: "Fen'harel take the Dalish. Don't speak to me of them. Just because I lack a Vallaslin Lethallin. *insert usual dialogue about being kicked out, villagers etc.*"

 

Has this always been here and I'm now just suffering some from of long term memory loss? Is this something new with the patch? Does this mean our Dalish won't stupidly ask who Mythal is? I

The Dalish response and the Dalish symbol have always been there prior to the latest patch and has been there since the release of the game. Unfortunately, it doesn't prevent our Lavellans from asking who Mythal is. ^__^;

Since I had the first (and hopefully last) epileptic fit of my life several weeks back, I now have to do several check-up and exams. This morning, I had an EEG recording set-up installed, and I have to keep it until tomorrow. Sadly, while it's recording, I must stay far away as possible from my laptop (except when it runs on battery like now) and from my phone. Now, I'm probably reaching, like a lot... But I was suddenly reminded of what happened if Leliana was slain in the Temple of Sacred Ashes. She was obviously brought back to life, but how? Well, what do the Temple of Sacred Ashes and now Valta possibly have in common? Pure lyrium. Oghren mentions how the Temple has pure lyrium in it, and Valta now has the power/magic of pure Lyrium granted by the Titan. Could Valta have used this power to bring Renn back (if that is indeed how Leliana came back)?
