I have not heard of this one have been away from here these days trying to replay origins because the first time I played it I kinda did it in a hurry so I need to focus on every single thing.. I mean.. I didn't even know who the dread wolf was.... that's embarrassing u__u'' I am trying to focus on all the details now etc and I am enjoying it a lot more. Would you care to tell me what this story is about? Pretty please?

It is a modern alternative universe, where a text sent to a wrong number starts a relationship. So Solas by accident sends a text to Ellana's phone and they end up striking a conversation that turns into... well, we don't know yet! (But we can guess ).

 

I really like it, the author implements lore and characters in a way that they are still the characters from the game, but are different enough to make it interesting. Lots of references to previous games and cameos. The only possible criticism is that the author uses a lot of 'da'len harhen', which not everyone likes.

He's the lead writer so the left hand does have to know what the right hand was doing since it's something they may have to address in a main game at a later date. Frankly, the writing likely took place with Weekes' team in Edmonton/Montreal.  The programming/design stuff was done in Austin. I had a friend that worked there, that's primarily what that studio does.  Writing was typically managed out of one place.

Approving over-arching story - yes, but the writing was indeed done in Austin; the writers were even mentioned by Marc Laidlaw (Hall Hood and Courtney Woods) on his twitter if I remember correctly, and a few writers from Edmonton also mentioned that they either didn't participate in writing Descent, or were simply responsible for advising and critiquing it (https://twitter.com/...635035733422080).

I wish a mod would answer this question. We really don't know what is acceptable.

The rules are pointless if people are going to be wishy washy and just enforce whatever they want whenever they want. I've had a look at the site rules, and they do say that your forum privileges can be immediately suspended for "sexually explicit content."  But really, that's not the problem.

 

The problem is that the enforcement of the various rules is patchy at best, and no one ever defines what counts as "explicit."  What one mod deems tasteful and ok could get thwapped by another mod, and there probably aren't enough of them for fair or consistent enforcement.  So you get situations like this, where Sunny who has never been anything but wonderful and sweet gets banned, but the trolls who wanted bigger boobs (but never posted images) get to keep posting.

 

The site rules do say that you can email contact@bioware.com with concerns about forum moderation.  Not sure if it'll actually help since we've technically been breaking the rules about explicit content for a while now, but it's worth a try.

I did get moderators to respond to me once...They did by extending my ban...I was initially banned for "being condescending and sarcastic". I got quite upset at that and retaliated by sending a rather rude private message to the moderator who then extended my ban from 2 days to a week...

I do feel for them. Internet moderation is often thankless and futile. But the site rules-as-written are somewhat impossible to achieve, IMO. What we're doing RIGHT NOW, discussing moderator action, is technically against the rules

Have you met the Solas fandom?  I'm sorry but after months of seeing the w*nk that goes in tumblr("YOUR CHOICES WITH SOLAS ARE A MORAL IMPERATIVE. THEY DIRECTLY CORRELATE TO YOUR ABILITY TO BE A GOOD PERSON" -- actual thing) I'm not surprised.  Remember back in the day when Carrie and Rabbit would have photoshop battles - we got yelled at for posting the "fat" Solas on the trash tumblr and were called fatphobic, homophobic, and evil for equating Solas with MRA's. It was literally Solas sitting in front of a computer with hotpockets. It's like...get a life. 

 

Even here. The Solas fandom has the sensibilities of an old lady knitting circle.   

 

So again - back to my initial "head-canon" of the sad lady of "no-fun-allowed".  It's drive-by or a said un-fun lurker. If you have a problem, say something. Otherwise move on and keep knitting.

If how you behave toward pixels is a moral imperative, I am actually the worst person.  Across 10+ years of gaming, I've Force-brainwashed my party members to evil, eaten souls (yum), defiled a benevolent god's corpse, murdered my love interest, betrayed more than one ally, and committed a few acts of genocide

Makes sense.  They've tried to keep the romances as non-creepy as possible, and I could definitely see how players would find that problematic.
