The Sera thread has been closesd twice now (maybe 3 times) with the most recent one happening just a few weeks ago.  The first closure was due to the annoucement of her being lesbian and the reaction of the dudegamers.  The Cass thread got closed once for much the same reason, and was closed completely a few weeks ago for getting seriously nsfw.  There's a new thread now.  The old Cole thread died and apparently that got 'werid' towards the end.  Cullen's thread hasn't been closed but the few times I've been in there people have been making sure to avoid drama.  The other threads aren't big enough to have ever caused trouble.  I think this may be the only big character thread to have never even been closed for cleaning.

Go us!

Edit: In all seriousness, I leave this thread when drama kicks up and it's frustrating to come back and it's still going on (I think it's the same drama being kicked up which irritates me), but that being said I should keep it in perspective that's it not as bad as it could be.

Uh...we suffer way less. Have you been to the other threads?  They are really ridiculous. This is like 13 year old girl drama and at the end of the day not a big deal. The other threads are rancid.  If you cannot handle being sworn at or demeaned or made fun of straight up...don't go.

That's the reason why I stick to this (and Twitter one, I guess) thread, and mostly lurk in others. Here I can actually have a discussion or just joke around without worrying too much about the whole thing either crashing and burning or being just too unpleasant to return to.

Even if there's some stirring or 'raised voices', they tend to calm down relatively quickly and with hardly any fuss, especially compared to other places.

Just a thought...

Could you just imagine the conversation a Dalish Female Inquisitor would have with their Keeper if they romanced Solas (provided you save the Lavellan clan)?

Lavellan: "Greetings Keeper. Through the Inquisition, I have helped secure a place for the Elvhen.  We can rebuild, make a home and restore some of what we have lost...OhbythewayIsleptwiththeDreadWolf...So...How are the halla today?"

Keeper: "Congratulations on your efforts da'len, you do the clan proud...Wait...What the....What did you say ?"

Provided Lavellan ever finds out about the Dread Wolf thing, it'd be even funnier for a mage since the Inquisitor was the First and one of the responsibilities of a Keeper and their First is to protect the clan from the Dead Wolf ...

Dunno, it depends on how you play your Lavellan, I guess, but unless they're getting 'joined', mine woudn't share and seek approval about every person she sleeps with.

I think that's what she has been doing... isn't it? It seemed to be the respectful way to share such art without automatically offending anyone who might honestly click on a spoiler tag by mistake, or so most of us agreed back when it became an issue to start. It still seems a good compromise, since the link is there but the content is not. Those who want to see it can. Those who don't just scroll past the spoiler tagged, labeled link and move on.

For some, yes, but I'm certain there've been a few where borderline NSFW images were embedded below the tag. It makes for convenient viewing but... yeah. We probably should get safer about it.

As a lot of people have stated, I'm mostly confused about the inconsistency. The NSFW rule is also way too vague and could be interpreted in dozens of different ways. As someone who's helped write forum rules before, that needs to be made way more specific. e need clear guidance on what is or isn't NSFW, and how we should go about linking to offsite art features which might contain it. (IE, a Tumblr post containing links to images.)

This is why I hate absent moderation. If we could only have an open discussion with one of them...

I've often thought about that, in regards of Lavellan's interactions with her clan while they're the Inquisitor and, more specifically, as the Herald. It's been said (although I didn't really see it that way except at the very beginning of the game) that some people revere your status as the herald and I wonder how the clan would take it. Would they be disturbed by it and push Lavellan away for becoming too human? Would they want to seize on it and use it as leverage for the elves, or to leverage their own position? What about the mark and it's connection to the Fade?

It's all headcanon territory, of course. Personally I can't see Ilaria's Keeper being all that surprised given the amount of stories that must be flying back to the clan. "Look, last I heard you're some prophet-on-Thedas for the humans, I'll believe anything right now."

The Culled thread has a thread mom, or at least that's how I think of her in relation to the thread, and she is amazing at helping contain. R2's Muse keeps them in line.

But even that place has its share of issues. Like everyone said, we are totally not even on their level. Lol. Even with the Solas thread art disliker.

I suppose it also depends whether Lavellan saves the clan through war table decisions or becomes the sole clan survivor. But even in case of saving the clan it seems that clan Lavellan may have to shift some of its internal policies or outlooks, considering that the Keeper has been made a member of Wycome's council, if I remember that correctly.

Might be a drive-by modthwap, or a lurker, or whatever.

 or a said un-fun lurker.

So seriously...sad lurker. Stop. You're the actual worst.

I am dismayed at this setback for lurker acceptance everywhere.

Hey, do you all have any new thoughts about why Weekes tweeted that Solas was in his 40s so long ago?

Why would he bother flat out lying? I know that sounds naive given that he is the king of trolls, but still. He could have just not answered the question. He couldn't possibly answer every question people tweet at him. Am I nuts thinking this is evidence for my beloved "Solas as spirit mage" theory? Just thought I'd tap the hive mind.

@dragonage @PatrickWeekes May we ask, about what age is Solas? His look doesn't give much away in that regard. #Sollassians #curious

@Cat_Lance @dragonage Good question! I'd put him in early-to-mid-forties. He and Blackwall occasionally have "kids these days" talks. :)

He was asked a direct question.  If he'd said 'spoilers' then people would've twigged something was up with him right away.  He did say 'I'd put him in early-to-mid-forties' which is a very good answer.  He doesn't say 'Solas is in his 40s'.  What he's saying is if something pointed to that guy in the street and said 'how do you think he is' he'd reply 40 something.

But then I am Team Lone Wolf.  I'm going to be biased.

*snip*

I think it's more a matter of how character 'feels' rather than what he/she actually is. Or maybe in terms of 'elvhen' years Solas is the equivalent to our forties, just like a 10-year-old cat is around 50 'human' years.

I remember him also answering abut Michel the Chevin, and while he never said the specific number, he said he pegged him around 30/mid-30, which means experienced, but yet in his prime. So it appears that Solas is a bit past that - not 'old' yet, physically, but old/experienced enough to bear some signs of ageing.

Headcanon territory is my favorite place :D. Well, Sophia came to the clan when she was veery young, but is not Dalish by birth, so even when she lived there, elves who were uppity about heritage felt very uneasy about her. Deshanna sends her on spy missions often to keep her away from the clan without casting her off completely. The more time she spends in alienages instead of aravels, the more she distances from the clan and the Dalish mindset in general. She's... lost, basically, and knows as soon as the conclave thing happens she won't be going back. Deshanna would use her as a connection and leverage, but the duty of First has been passed on.

I'm kind of glad I picked up on the warnings from people here about said threads. I happily stay in the blanket fort here. Other brave souls act as scouts and bring back interesting tidbits from elsewhere in the BSN land, though. It's quite handy.

I think Capricorn is a paragon example of how to properly tag links, haha. Someone tell Orzammar.

Oh... that might be what did it for me then. I pretty much killed myself 15x trying to reach various ledges, rofl. Finally found that genlock in the lower level, hugging a wall like it was a chameleon rofl.

HURRAH. Bug fix: just go kill yourself.

Figure things are lost, fling character off cliff just messing around before reloading a save from an hour earlier, land back in the same place you started with previously invisible enemy. Kill enemy. Bam, it works.

The randomness of software troubleshooting.

Well here's something from me for today.. You know those paintings in the Crestwood cave that, I assume, relate to the Sinner (http://dragonage.wik...t_Elven_Writing)?

Spoiler

Well, in the Temple of Mythal I saw this:

Spoiler

I'd never seen those depicted together like that. Previously I'd read claims that the dragon was Mythal, but it looks dark and blighted like the armored picture. This makes me think the dragon is the Sinner, leading a similarly stylized army. The codex does say, "whose form may be one or many."

Just a little thing I noticed .
