I know, right?
Speaking of which, Chapter 9 of Doughnut Rebel is up!
BTW I'm reeeaaaaaally in the mood for donuts right now... I think I'll buy a box of them this weekend. xD
Chapter 9 was awesome as usual.
When I read the first 8 chapters last night, I ended up with the biggest donut craving ever... Too bad Cinnamon Rashvine is not a flavor I can find anywhere ![]()
At what point do I need to go find professional help?
Nah, did you instinctively make the motion to cast a barrier and yell out loud, "IN THE NAME OF MYTHAL, YOU WILL PAY FOR THOSE WE LOST AT HAVEN, YOU BASTARD!" If not, there's still room for improvement ![]()
Though I think if you meet Solas on the street, he would wear a beanie to cover his ears. I can't imagine him with any other hat than a beanie. Also hipster-tight jeans, baggy sweater, and flip-flops. Also IRL, I'm this shy creature who avoids conflict at all cost, and would probably just run awawy at the sight of him ![]()

And here we had thought nothing could be as bad as collecting the shards. Amazing how a change of scenery changes perspective... ![]()

But where can I find donuts with Elfroot in them? Regular donuts won't do it for me anymore

You people should try REAL donuts, not that fraudulent things with hole in the middle ![]()

(I kid of course - though what we understand as "donuts" differs slightly in what many people in the West understand it. Our traditional donuts are full and usually filled with marmalade or rose petal jam <- yes it's a thing here)

Rose petal jam is pretty tasty. Rose hip jam too
Rose petal jam is very nostalgic for me. It's one of those things that was pretty readily available in dreary 90-ties (when we had... not so much here) that at the same time had a relatively exotic taste. I also remember all those rose bushes (rosa rugosa specifically) that grew around my primary school, and how we used to nip and chew its petals, like some kind of fairies ![]()
Of course, a rose petal jam or marmalade filled donut with a thick coat of powdered sugar icing and a bit of orange peel on top is also incredibly nostalgic, as well as my favorite type of donut. I also can't think of anything more local... other than white cheese and potato filled pierogis or poppy seed cake (also among my favorites).

My late grandparents used to live near a family-owned bakery that is still in operation after more than 80 years. They have wonderful donuts. In fact, all my earliest donuts were the filled kind. Now I want one of their pastry cream filled ones. Haven't been back in about four years.
The only places for donuts around where I live are the generic chains. But there are some great ones elswhere in this city.

Ah, the early 90s in Bulgaria. Mom boiling snow on one of those portable mini-gas-range things intended for camping, since we haven't had electricity and running water in days. Lines for bread and cheese that go out of the shop and turn around the block, which I have to stand on, since she's home with my 1-year old brother. Good times... only not. Don't feel very nostalgic, TBH.
On a more cheery note... You have white cheese? Is it salty? I love white cheese, and luckily for me, they sell it here. Poland is sounding more awesome by the minute. Do you have yellow cheese as well?
Also... since you mentioned chewing the petals... Did you also chew grapevine tendrils? We would always break off and chew the grapevine tendrils ![]()

Do you live in Bulgaria then? I think it's one of the most beautiful languages.
(Apparently English is hard and I can't properly form sentences today. Long day at work.)

This thread is making me really hungry today.
It's also making me think about that time everyone was talking about maple syrup and I thought about incorporating some sort of maple sweet into some fanfiction with my Lavellan in it.
The suggestion of salty white cheese is making me want some. I might have to go pick some up. I think these sorts of things are common in various places. In my case, I'm talking about Puerto Rican queso blanco.

Yeah, I can imagine that in Bulgaria things during 90-ties might have been even worse, and that's coming from someone living in a very underdeveloped part of the country and still remembering how many things we lacked :[ Heck, it was a celebration when we finally got our first (traditional) phone.
In any case - the cheese I'm talking is probably translated to English as quark or cottage cheese (that's what wikipedia tells me). Depending on who and how makes it, it can have different consistency, fat amount or be more or less salty - usually it falls more on saltier category, but some types are neutral and therefore are also used to make sweet dishes or cakes ![]()
We have some types of yellow cheese, but most we have now are well-known elsewhere, with exception being oscypki, which is a traditional cheese made in mountainous parts of the country.
As for grapevine tendrils - we didn't have that many grapevines and those few that grew here (at least very locally) were usually extremely sour. What I do remember doing though is going on fields of opium poppies (before cultivating them was outlawed/regulated) and eating poppy seed straight out of pods! ![]()
Speaking of poppy seed... one of neighbors, whose hobby is making really delicious cakes just shared one of her latest creations, which is a traditional poppy seed cake and OHMYGODIMINHEAVEN....

Very different then, but I love cottage cheese too. I love all cheese ![]()
That picture looks SO GOOD!
I just had a random thought... So if you can summon Mythal at that altar in the Arbor Wilds using that invocation, I wonder if you could summon Fen'Harel... with desserts ![]()
Lavellan: Ma melava halani, ma halani sahlin, Fen'Harel! Come and accept my offering of poppy seed cake!
*A fade rift opens temporarily and Solas walks out.*
Solas: Is that traditional poppy seed cake?!! *recognizes Lavellan* Uh oh...
In fact, I'm calling it: This is how we catch him in Wolf Hunt DLC ![]()

I have to admit, I was kinda wondering - if he dislikes caffeine because it makes a person more awake, hence crossing to the Fade difficult, then maybe something that has opposite effects (like opiates) is what fadewalkers would enjoy? ![]()
