The Buried Sea in the Bastion of the Pure:

 

I can't find the codex but I'm sure I read that it is full of lyrium. Where does the water come from?

 

The 'sky' in the Wellspring is equally as strange:

 

I'm fairly sure I heard birds down there. Is Thedas a hollow world? And I remember Renn asked something about Skyhold, asking about how it doesn't fall into the sky. I can't find the banter again.. He concluded by saying something about the Stone or rocks held onto it.

I imagine dwarves must have a crazy sense of vertigo whenever they see the sky for the first time. Trippy.

Like Discworld, maybe Thedas' world isn't even round. Maybe it's something else. Who knows? Could be hollow. My first impression of the 'sky' was that it was all created by the lyrium -- kind of like how the Fade is capable of being manipulated to form an environment,  the crazy amount of lyrium there + the titan itself might do the same.

Back to speculation bonanza, after reaching the mysterious hole in Western Approach with my mage Trevelyan.

 

Something just hit me - I picked the logbook of a warden mentioning how they reached an ancient thaig and then the thrum of the song collapsed the digging site. What I actually never really noticed was the title of that codex - and an interesting thing about it is that it's an... ANCIENT Warden Logbook.

 

Wait... so this hole is NOT recent? Did Venatori/current Wardens tried to continue an operation that was long abandoned by previous Wardens? Was them reaching and killing the Old God before darkspawn corrupt something they've tried before?

 

And that last sentence - "we'll have to find another Archdemon somewhere more solid". Huh... is it possible that some ancient Wardens might have inadvertently began one of the previous Blights?

It makes sense, doesn't it?

The Ancient Wardens weren't in the same situation that the current Wardens are. Blights were recent, and lasted for centuries. The Wardens were the saviors of the world, rather than the Hero of Ferelden stopping a Blight before it really got rolling. With those kinds of resources (and griffons!) I'd be shocked if they hadn't tried to track down and kill the Old Gods before they could be Blighted, multiple times.

What's curious to speculate about is, what would happen if Wardens broke the prison instead of darkspawn? Would the Wardens still be able to corrupt them? Would the Old Gods not wake up unless blighted? Who knows? *shrug*

It seems to me that the Wardens didn't march across the deserts of western Orlais just to summon their demon army in isolation. Their first target is in the Western Approach alongside them.

The Song does appear to be that of the Old Gods. It's possible that the Wardens spent their time between Blights tracking down the other Old Gods and marking them for special interest. But in each case, ("Under the Waking Sea? Are you kidding me? If Murloc Darkspawn start swarming onto the beach, I am done.") they couldn't reach the Old God, and decided to just let it rest.

Going off Kardol's Codex entry, the Old God prisons are just structures beneath the Deep Roads, chambers. Maybe the fancy stuff was destroyed before they got there. I still like the idea of their being bound in lyrium, but it's starting to sound like it's more of a stone cocoon for them as they're in uthenera taking a lizard nap.

Yes. Some of the earlier romance dialogues are surprisingly snippy, actually. Particularly when it comes to disagreements about the Dalish and the Fade.

I finally found that thing after deciding to just go ahead and explore a bit. So I did the expedition and will continue tomorrow. It would have been nice to know these things before running around and searching forever across two sessions thinking I was missing something.

Gender bent Solas is kind of like what I am going to do...Though for now I am just doing his like, default outfit you see him in around Haven or Skyhold. Only with a sweet staff lol. I need to stop being lazy so I can test my ears properly, and see if my bald cap only on the sides idea works...I'm using my own hair and attaching a bald cap only to the sides of my head, kind of like Fen'Harel's hair (or concept art Solas). I actually have no idea if it will work or not until I try.

I was reading an old spoiler write-up and they mentioned the scene where the Inquisitor is struggling through the snow post-Haven. A wolf howls during that scene. And Solas isn't in the search party? I love the theory that the wolf was Solas -- maybe he did transform in the span of the game after all. Head canon says yes
