Adaar/Cadash: I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am!

*Rides off on a Dracolisk or Giant Nug*

B)

I bought the nugalope just so Adaar could ride it around majestically.  And Dorian could facepalm at how intensely uncultured his boyfriend was

Yeah, I was originally going to go for a curt, gruff, gets-the-business-done sort of character, but he's evolved into a snarky bastard who doesn't give a damn what people think, and an outrageous flirt to boot. I blame Jon Curry's voice acting for that completely. It's great.

I think that transition means that I'm edging towards Dorian, although I can sort of see my Adaar constantly teasing Cassandra in a sweet way and only getting [disgusted nosie] and Cassandra Slightly Disapproves in response.

Dorian-mancers - does completing Champions of the Just mean that you lose out on lots of dialogue with Dorian? I've done In Hushed Whispers loads of times but never actually done the Templar quest - and besides, I can't see my Adaar letting the mages walk free, or at least not so early on in his character development :\ So I figure I'll try out the Templar questline instead. I prefer Dorian to Cole but you know, too much of a good thing.

I've done it both ways now (templars with Lavellan, mages with Adaar) and you do get less dialogue for the party member you pick up later. But that's mostly because Dorian and Cole have a lot of dialogue in their respective quests. Once you get past Champions/Whispers, they have pretty much the same amount of dialogue.  You also run less risk of triggering Dorian's approval bug if you do Champions, though I think they might have fixed that.

My Adaar is also an insufferable flirt thanks to Jon Curry, and I hadn't actually decided who he'd romance.  Then Dorian showed up and it was love at first snark  I do continue to pick some of Josie and Cass's lighter flirts though, because they're adorable and hilarious.  Teasing Cass is just too much fun, and if you have decent approval with her, she actually takes it in stride.

You are a bona fide DA-art-cyclopedia Capricorn. Thanks :D

You're welcome! :D I'm just a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to find the other post-Haven Lavellan and wolves comic. I was going crazy searching my Tumblr archives. (Note to self: Tag stuff properly )

Anyway, art post! :wizard:

Adorable sketch of Solas and Lavellan kissing.

Solavellan for the kiss meme: Kiss on the forehead.

My heart. (NSFW)

Solas and distasteful tea.

Solas sketch.

"Nerds." (Lavellan, Solas, and Dorian.)

This is one reason why I can't help but consider Cole as another one who will definitely be there. They've both lost Solas in their respective ways, though Cole still knows things, but can't reach him. So they share a certain bond that others wouldn't.

For me, it's absolutely Dorian and Cole who are there steadily. In the return to clan story I have outlined, I'm having her bring both Dorian and Cole, who both insist on coming along despite the potential for conflict because her need for support is more important. Bringing both a Tevinter altus mage and a spirit to the Dalish when you come for a visit also missing your vallaslin.

No drama at all.

*appears in a puff of smoke* Did someone say DRAMA?!

I look forward to reading that :)

I keep trying to write fluff and it gets difficult to get certain segments or words to feel right. I started an original romance story based on a prompt, which quickly started getting kind of bleak and heavy.  My friend, the other day, upon telling her how the sci-fi romance got bleak and sad before I got to the actual romance part: "Stop trying to write so much fluff. Your calling is feels."

I should start writing that.

Well personally I love bleak and heavy. Give me all teh feelz! :-) And I know you've said before you like to read fluff, but maybe what you read and what you write are just meant to be different. Your friend's advice seems legit, because you've said you're an empathetic person, so someone who is good at understanding and describing the appropriate feels for a situation.

I can't write fluff or smut at all, even though I love reading both. The kind of events that appear in these fics just don't spawn in my head spontaneously.

Sometimes I attempt different things because it's a challenge. You know, to sort of try to make my skills a bit more flexible. It could fail entirely, but even if it's something that never reaches anyone but me, it's worth trying. You just wind up with a pile of scenes or unfinished stories sometimes. :)

But my specialty has always been feels. Even the things I've written that have been fluffy and the two kind of mildly smutty ones (one Solavellan, one with my Lavellan and her first love - I wanted to kind of show the tentativeness of a first love but also partly how Lavellan's boldness (she who makes the first move upon Solas surely has some) developed) have also been full of feels.

It took me some time to eventually understand myself in that regard, being naturally empathetic. I have a sense for people, and an understanding that sort of just clicks. So of course that would find its way into my writing. I still try and challenge myself sometimes though. A genre I don't use often or a technique, or a prompt to set the scene. I feel like I can still do the sci-fi romance but I plan to shift it from fluffy romance to bleaker human story that also has two people meeting and unexpectedly growing close in it.

Completely unrelated, but it's just struck me - why does Fenris not wear shoes? Yes, he's an elf, but he was brought up in a human household, not a dalish clan.

I read somewhere that Gaider didn't intend for Fenris to wear elven footwear since he had no connection or interest in the culture, but the artists just did what they wanted for his design.

It's a great start. I read your note on the style after looking at the image and thinking 'Oh it's like Disney style'. So I'd say you were on the right track. :)

I saw this on tumblr and hadn't considered the implications:

http://inquisitorsfa...o-finally-get-a

tumblr_nslbp2FfqE1re9dwco1_500.jpg

Mythal kneeling in front of the vessel of an old god in front of a statue of someone being stabbed in the back while crying blood.

There is symbolism here and I am scared.

I think that hooded statue is the same as the one in the Exalted Plains, "The Raven":

This mysterious hooded figure in Citadelle du Corbeau was nicknamed "the Raven" after the second Exatled March. The human forces - unfamiliar with elven iconography - saw the shadow the statue cast upon the courtyard, and imagined dark wings spread over the keep. Some years later, scholars of elven history hypothesized that the elves may have intended the sculpture as a representation of Dirthamen, the elven god of Secrets.

So we have Mythal kneeling before Urthemiel, beneath a statue of a stabbed Dirthamen.

So many thoughts.. Someone help me think clearly!.

Hey, someone betrayed Mythal and let the humies rise up.  ^_^

If the Elf God=Old God matchup has any truth, I'd think Urthemiel=June and Razikale/Mystery=Dirthamen. But that's kind of up in the air, so to speak.

Well I was saving it to finish before the last DLC (so I could take Solas along on the others), so this is my main PT. crying forver

I'm doing that too! But I'm waiting until the announcement on Saturday so I have a better idea if the next DLC will be an after game one before I go ahead with the dump scene.

That and I'm just plain avoiding it.

Yeah I'm going along with Razikale = Dirthamen.

Ghilan'nain could be Urthemiel (both relate to beauty). Hmm, Mythal bowing to Ghilan'nain.. Would Mythal kneel to any of the Elven pantheon?

I wondered what magic Kieran was doing when we walked in on them.

I never saw it as actual bowing, imo it looks more like a part of some ritual/magic thing.

Yeah, I saw it as just Mythal kneeling down to chat with her grandson/old god buddy face-to-face before grabbing the Old God Soul. Probably part of the lead-up to the ritual to take it.

Or bonding over how they alone are only people who enjoyed After Earth, by having fun recreating one of the many "Take a knee!" scenes.

Unless they're also fans of Zod in Superman II, could be both?

What is Urthemiel is doing?

In the end it's Mythal that takes the soul from him, before that though..

He's up to something.

Perhaps another reason the quest is called "The Final Piece" is because she gave Kieran a small part of Mythal's soul to serve as an insurance policy for when Solas came knocking at the end of the game? Flemeth even used a similar phrase in DA2 explaining to Hawke that the amulet they carried held;

"Just a piece, a fragment cast adrift from the whole..."

(While we always have the scene at the end with the Eluvian to be the explanation for any potential revivals if Kieran doesn't exist)

What the-

Hmm.

Demonstrating some of his Old God tricks for Mythal? That's a similar blue light to when the Old God soul is passed around, isn't it?

That there's the same symbol beneath them that's present at the Anchor Ritual, as well as the first elven artifact Solas leads you to, is hella suspicious, though.

Indeed. Didn't Kieran say she called to him and he had to go? That may mean Mythal has power over the old gods with her own "calling".

It's funny.. I remember the first time I went through the eluvian, I wanted to tell Solas all about it. Little did I know....

I didn't realise that the statue was of Dirthamen! Wow. Perhaps he was betrayed by his followers - from the mission in his temple, it seems that he demanded a lot of those who worshipped him. That screams forboding. Otherwise, it could simply represent secrets of the past being spilt and shared around. Although not without cost, it seems.

I wish I could write fluff, I find it so trying :( All I can do is bleak, angsty, feelsy stuff - and occasionally, some humour.

Writing fluff is definitely much harder for me. I can only really do one-shot fluffy things and even then I have some trouble. But I guess it balances out.

As far as Dirthamen, there just may be something up with that. The statue is ominous looking and the temple stuff. We only have few snippets of anything involving the gods but what we do have suggests so much was pretty screwy between them and individually. Solas' dialogue in the temple is something we can accept at face value to at least some degree. He recounts things as if they're tales but otherwise has no reason to lie. And he expresses some pretty terrible things, like Falon'Din's demands. My mind also keeps going back to the question of Felassan's master and if it's someone trying to get out - then who? Falon'Din is a candidate. Dirthamen may be betrayed somehow or maybe a betrayer.

Of course through the elven codexes we have that trial for whoever tried to do something reserved for the gods.

I do hope we see some of this addressed in whatever story DLC remains to cushion the wait for the next DA game.

I got spoiled on Solas' identity right before the temple so I definitely paid seriously close attention after that. I went to go see him afterward and then of course the breakup happened. But the lack of an opportunity to talk about the eluvian and stuff was something I understood and had perspective on due to unfortunate accidental spoilers.

But I think it would feel like it was missing since he's Mr. Elfy knowledge if I didn't know who he was before I went through.

edit: Though I think being spoiled right at that time (while not being spoiled on the breakup) was almost kind of better in that it helped make things make more sense for me as a player, even though the sadness of the situation was not diminished at all.
