Maybe instead of saying "Cass doesn't fit" we should be wondering why she does fit, since people who know more than we do chose to give her Death's imagery?

 

Naturally.  But with three months still to go and a serious desire to keep talking about this game, what else is there to do?

 

Hm? I don't think I said that... And if it sounded like I did, that wasn't what I intended. All I meant was that it seems to me (and I think also Cat Lance) to be a strange choice... but that's based on what we've seen of her in previous installments. And then I speculated on how she could potentially sync up to Death in Inquisition, which I can see happening under certain circumstances. So I'm not saying "what no Death no way" but moreso "Well I didn't expect that. Wonder how that could work out?"

 

And I do think it's an interesting potential development arc. I personally like plots that involve a lot of change and I think it'll be neat to see how a Hand Of the Divine would deal with being forced to look at the fact that maybe the Chantry wasn't all she thought it was. And since I've never attempted to hide my intense dislike of the Chantry, it'd be even more enjoyable for me, heh. But since we don't know anything about how her story will actually go yet, I'm just guessing.

 

And ah, no, I didn't mean that meant I didn't want to talk about it anymore! It's still three whole months away! I'll take any scrap of information I can get, hah. It was just a comment to add to how you said you think it'll be fun to look back at your list after actually knowing the story, is all. Because sometimes I look back at things we used to think and giggle? ...Maybe I'm not verbalizing very well... Hopefully this is better.

 

edit @salzgurkenius: I know, right?! I super don't have the kind money that was required for the Inq edition, nor did I even want any of that stuff... I mean, what am I going to do with Orlesian gold coins??? But the CARDS though. I wanted them instantly but now even moreso that I've seen them. I feel like a while back some dev said maybe they'd end up selling them separately, but weren't sure... I can't remember who or where or when, but I'm totally crossing my fingers for that to actually happen.

What to you think of Solas's new armor? I love the blue. I just wish there was a little more fur. He might get cold. I think my Quiz is going to have to warm him up if he is going out in the rain in just his long johns and coat.

I love that it has ear holes! My Inquisitor would definitely wear such a hood! Just, not anywhere cold...

Ha ha ha! I totally am unsure if it has ear-holes or is something just draped over his head, but I went the ear-holes route. Guess this is Solas' way of making a fashion statement. (I shouldn't think about it too much. It's art! Artsy piece and artsy fan-piece! Arrrrrttttt!)
 

Totally late on this but oh my god Carpool, this is absolutely gorgeous! Amazing, amazing work! Every time you draw something, I marvel at your talent and save save save. Save it immediately. I have a little collection of your Solas stuff in my fanart folder. I hope that's not weird.

If it helps, I don't think you came across that way at all. I totally got what you were saying. I also agree that while she was certainlya force to be reconned with in da2, i don't feel that at that point she fit death. However we don't know how she will be in the new game, her role in it, or the course of events in the game.

I do feel that the image of her at the head of an army fits the Chariot and it's image of a driven leader.

I also find that our (sometimes wild) speculation isa very enjoyable way too pass the intervening time till we can get our grubby mitts on the game!

I kind of thought with the fur he looked like a wood elf. Without, he kind of looks like a high elf. I kind of like him more when he looks more like a woodsman. It kind of fits his character more.

I meant more that we should see it as a possible learning opportunity.  Someone who knows Cassandra's story gave her Death imagery, so that may be something to think about in regards to her and to look for in her story rather than saying "she hasn't yet shown these traits."

 

And the second wasn't saying that we shouldn't talk about it.  Just that we can't help being wrong unless we don't talk about it at all.

 

And yeah, I'd love to see the tarot separately too.  Maybe some of the art will be in the artbook though, which is significantly more affordable.

Thanks! Glad to hear it. Sometimes I get caught up in my thoughts and forget that not everybody can hear what I'm thinking inside my head and leave stuff out, hah. But I agree about the speculation. I'm so glad we've got all this new stuff to chew on; that dry spell was beginning to get to me. I mean, no DA and no DA to talk about? I wouldn't survive these next few months! At least not with my sanity intact, heh.

I believe it's that they do change, unlike DA2 (and thank the Creators for that-- seeing everyone wearing the SAME EXACT OUTFIT for SEVEN YEARS was utter madness!), but unlike DA:O where it could be completely random, they'll keep their unique aesthetic... Like even though he doesn't have the backpack, he still has he longjohns, heh.

 

I for one am super thrilled with this happy medium. Change is good, but totally losing a follower's distinct style (like Morrigan's original robes) is unfortunate.

Ah, it's alright! Text can be hard sometimes. Lots of different ways to read things and no verbal cues to help out with interpretation. So no worries here. 

 

I agree, though; I'm all for speculating! And I'm already enjoying the idea of Cass having a crisis of faith, hah. I'd love to be able to help her through it if she does, oh man. And that's true about the art book. I'm so excited for that... I have the Library Edition of the World Of Thedas and it's GORGEOUS. The full two-page paintings are my favorite and I can't wait to see more stuff from Inquisition.

FYI, those wondering about the tarot card deck-- the 72 cards things was a mistake or typo or something by marketing. One of the artist devs clarified a while back that the tarot deck would be the full set (76, is it?) as that's how many piece of art they were making. So, don't worry! The deck will be complete and usable!

Solas is used as a follower and if you listen close in the first link (around 10:15, I think), you can hear him speak.  We get to see him in two outfits.  The blue is very nice.  Solas grabs the Inquisitor's hand and pulls them towards a rift in one of them (the hand holding caused a minor explosion).

 

There are screencaps from the demo that focus mostly on Solas.  These are huge, so beware.

Just FYI, that first link isn't an actual trailer. It's someone's fanmade thing. Which is all well and good except the title is purposefully misleading for views, which is... lame. But it was there and named "ComicCon Trailer" before and now they've changed it for Gamescom. [eyeroll]

lol, don't even get me started on the money, I'm saving up money to buy a new laptop so that I can proceed to saving up money to buy the game (I just wish that the requirements for the game were already out or something) I guess that now I can also add saving up money to buy dem cards, it's getting a little bit sad actually xD

I can't speak for others, but if you feel we've misunderstood you, your refusal to acknowledge any possible interpretation BUT the death card and completely ignoring that her card's imagery also fits the Chariot and that this we should be thinking about how she could fit the death card is where it is hard to see where you are coming from on a "let's all enjoy speculating together" level.

*edit*  I was at Six Flags yesterday and lost my glasses on a ride. So now, I am wearing sunglasses indoors and I'm afraid I can't paint more Solas until I have a clear lens.  Makes me a sad banana. On top of that, I'm going back to college in a few days and my replacements won't come in for at least a week...Oy.

It's sad that we didn't get any banter in the new demo, but more to look forward to I guess

Mike also said that he has a Team consisting of Cass, Sera and Solas, and that not all of them get along

We know that Cass and Solas apparently get on well, so maybe Cass and Sera are quarreling and he's caught in the middle

Or maybe he doesn't get along with Sera himself?
