I miss being able to set Morrigan's tactics so she'd heal herself by using Blood Sacrifice on Alistair.
haha, priceless ![]()

Yes, and I also have it in my bar. I'm playing DW.
lol then yeah, I'd switch out Cole for a 2nd mage with barrier.
Then again, I've only tried it once when I was really tired. Going to give it another try in a bit.
Back home... Finally!
Since I got some great advice, I'll take the time for a writing retreat.
I'm also going to try to go to sleep.
I apologize for pretty much everything I posted in the thread in the last two days.
Good luck to us all tomorrow!
Yes, sleep. Hopefully the writing flows. The issue for me is I need to make this sound like stream of consciousness dream to nightmare while hitting a series of very specific symbols and imagery. It's a challenge, but worth a try. If I could draw, I could storyboard this. ![]()
Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, lookie at the picture that just appeared on Twitter thread!
I just noticed the poor toppled Fen'harel statue. It kind of looks like its trying to take a nap.
so the panel promo image that was tweeted
hell yeah eluvians
my train of thought snapped like this:
archways > eluvians > elves > ancient elves > sOLAS
and I am psyched
but even if it has nothing to do with Solas I'm still super excited because of the involvement of eluvians *__*

I wonder if this is the latest smear campaign against Fen'Harel, and if we're going to have to take on his disgruntled hater. ![]()

This was actually the first custom tactic I ever set! I figured it was useful and in-character.
So far Awakening's tactics are my favourite since it makes one huge improvement over the one in DAO: it lets you set conditions for the group heal spell (X number of party members under X health), which was something DAO really needed.

I know it's nothing major you're talking about but could you please spoiler tag the Descent stuff? It's still new and some people haven't had the time to play it yet.
Whoops! With talk of the new DLC you kind of forget Descent just came out! Fixed it!

Thanks. I'm still slowly working my way to a point where I can play it (I was planning on doing it after completing one Skyhold mission, but given as I'm playing on Nightmare for the achievements and I've heard they're pretty tough I'm going to complete my Nightmare run then go back to a pre-break up save and complete them (both story DLCs) without worrying about difficulty)

I loved DA:O and Awakenings, but oh my god the rune-making system in Awakenings was so bloody tedious.
TL;DR I miss not having to micromanage my party members

Np! I'd recommended being at level 20 or up. They say it scales, but I honestly found it hard if you try it right after you acquire Skyhold. I like playing the DLC after I beat the game just because of the difficulty, but the challenge will always be there even if you reach level 27.

I'd managed to block that from my memory until now. Creators help you if one of your party members was the resident rune crafter.
I just play on Normal, prioritize a few abilities, and let them go. Archers and Knight Enchanters never take damage anyway, so if Bull chews through all of my health potions trying to stick himself up a dragon's nose, it's no biggie
And I've never liked the combat enough in any BioWare game (other than ME2/3) to turn up the difficulty.
I was unfortunately eating ice cream when I read this ... and the ice cream almost came out of my own nose when I mentally envisioned Bull trying to stick himself up a dragon's nose. So thanks lol =p
Since patch 7 my companions tend to get stuck and I have to switch over to them to make them move again. Mages are usually alright though. Surprisingly out of all 3 mages, Solas is the one I never have to command. He always does the right thing. If I get trapped with a spell about to burn me or freeze me, he Dispels right away. He places Barrier on me when I charge into battle and when I am about to be hit, he freezes the enemy and then I shatter it!
The number of times Solas has saved my Inquisitors in battle is more than I can count on my fingers and toes. Barrier at the right time, freeze an enemy at the right time, stonefist to the face of an enemy trying to sneak up on me. Definitely the best one was during my first stab at a Nightmare playthrough with my first Solasmancer. Thought I made the mistake of bringing Solas with me to do In Hushed Whispers, so I had two mages, archer, and one warrior. The second rift in the courtyard was giving me such a hard time, I wanted an extra tank. I almost went back to restart the whole thing so I could have an extra warrior to draw aggro. Who ended up being the one to pull me through that fight? Solas, the guy I had regretted bringing.

I've never regretted bringing Solas along. I have, however, regretted bringing myself ... what with the number of times I'll leaping shot myself off a cliff or wall or fade step over a cliff or wall ... I always envision the rest of the party facepalming and thinking, "This is the person leading us? Really?!" ><

He's just so amazing at that! Both with my Mage Trevelyan and Rogue Lavellan! If the others were that way, I wouldn't worry all the time. I give Cole credit though. If an enemy even touches me slightly, he's there in a puff of smoke stabbing them through. Sadly that new glitch makes him freeze up now, so I rely on Solas and after the game, Dorian is my close second, though he revives the dead too much.
I also play on Normal, at least the first time through, but sometimes a subsequent play is even on Casual if I really want to just focus on story. As far as The Descent goes, only the boss has given me any true trouble, so I felt like I could've turned up the difficulty, but decided not to.

Varric tends to commit suicide a lot in my playthroughs. Sera is surprisingly less clumsy and I as an archer am a danger to both Corypheus and the Inquisition.

It was the only time I ever did regret bringing Solas. After we got past the courtyard, I sure didn't. And yes, Leaping Shot off a cliff so many times.

Dorian has saved my life a handful of times too and he's my go to mage after Solas leaves. Inquisitor BFF he is.

Same! He's her BFF and protector in battle! I'm just still miffed at him on a recent PT when he revived the door to the Crestwood Keep and I somehow got stuck on the inside and got slaughtered while they waited to follow after the door "died" again.
