Well, if I were a Dalish elf I might have a few questions if I were exploring a temple of Fen'harel and then encountered Solas.

Thank you for the link.

OMG

OMG

OMG!!!

I'm so excited it's difficult to find words.

I knew some poeple would eventually want to get rid of the Inquisitor. It was inevitable... I hope Solas will help...

LOL, if things happen in a way trailer implies that it happens (Inquisitor suddenly becoming something of a persona non grata in Thedas) then I can only imagine the Dalish (especially) Inquisitor may be experiencing similar irony to the one that might've happened to Fen'Harel - and I expect that to be pointed out ;P

I go for a nap and come back to this.

"Oh Bioware forums," *in a cheesy Ferrero Rocher advertising accent* with these Youtube clips you are really spoiling us!"

That is some bloody advert. And Sept 8th? I may have just wet myself a little.

The idea that we may be seeing Solas as not-so-meek hobo apostate is quite intriguing. Double the confidence and the quiet air of authority and wow. I can get behind that.

Note that I don't mean aggressive overbearing mean person. Being confident usually means you don't feel the need to be any of those things.

Just based on the trailer and playing through both DLCs, I'd recommend

The Descent then JoH. I think they make more sense post-game (though I played both pre-end) since you have other things to worry about and JoH has some parallels for a romanced Lavellan that would be a good headcanon to serve as an in between but also because of the ending of JoH

Is it just me or does some of this stuff in the trailer already seem like things we knew?

oh god it's so soon as well, the 8th September.

They're giving a large amount of time to promo it, which is a nice change from the usual 'lol, here's some DLC tomorrow'.

I love how emotional Alix gets in that trailer. It's so nice they're featuring a female inquisitor in promo material - it's so rare for a big game company to do that.

Also, given how prominently the qunari feature in that trailer it seems unlikely that Solas will be the big bad of this DLC. Regardless of your stances on mages/templars, the Inquisitor has ancient powerful elven magic stuck in their body which they can use to tear and sew together the veil at will - that's likely something the qunari will take issue with. It's quite possible Solas might have the answer to some fade-related/magic related problem maybe possibly, and that's his role, as a neutral party?

I think Solas is using the Qunari somehow, perhaps as proxies. Why on earth and how on earth do those horny giants know how to work an Eluvian ? They hate magic. What's more, why is there a female Qunari leading them ? This means that it is not the Antaam that is attacking but rather the Ben-Hassrath.

Or maybe Briala's spy network got spied on.

Or maybe whoever killed Felassan was tied to the qunari in some way.

I can't see Solas working with the qunari, but maybe I am wrong.  I guess we'll have to wait and see on September 8.

given that

"Qunari strongly believe that the genders are inherently and intuitively better at certain tasks. No matter how much aptitude and promise a male shows for management, he will never be considered as good at it as a female, therefore it would be considered inefficient and a waste of resources to place him in a role where a woman might serve better. Instead, the Tamassrans find another role that he shows aptitude for and will place him there instead. The same goes for females, most Qunari will find it odd if a female becomes a warrior.[6] The odd, very rare exception is made however."

I wonder what made this particular Qunari warrior an exception. She seems... driven, to say the least. I love me some strong female characters, so this has my blood flowing in all the right place ;)

We finally get someone other than

which makes me wonder if she'll also make an appearance, however unlikely, given her role in the Qun...

I don't know from what I got in the game I believe Solas really dislikes the Qunari due to how they treat mages. So for me it would be a 180 if he was working with them.

OOHHH MYYY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD

well I suddenly have to buy a new console or a pc and replay all of Inquisition in... a week. *shakes fist at bioware* why couldn't you let the last-gen consoles work just a bit longer??? why??????

But seriously, I am SO excited for this! Eluvian hopping! Qunari! Dragons! SOLAS!!!

I think his line/tone was also in character for this sort of appearance. He ruined everything, lost everything, watched his attempts to fix it succeed in some ways but at the cost of the orb that would have let him "put things to rights" in his mind, and then fled the only people he'd let himself grow close to since his fall. the slightly bitter, guarded tone suits that perfectly I think. I'm glad it's not going to be any sort of immediate "happy reunion" from the looks of things--though I think there's a lot of room to conclude with something more hopeful after the initial meeting him again!

SolaFen does not have to work with the Qunari. That is why I mention the possibilty of him using them as proxies. He can drop a hint or two, use his own agents, enter their dreams, etc.

At his core, SolaFen is an exceptionally clever man. He does despise the Qunari for their nonthinking ways. However, he is capable of recognizing that you can use a horde of nonthinking oxmen for his purposes. You don't have to like a cult or their members to manipulate them for your own purposes.

And this is precisely one of the reasons I despise the Qun, possibly as much as Solas does.  That and their tendency to brainwash and torture anyone who disagrees with them.  Men and women do have physiological differences, but there's also quite a bit of overlap.

Effectively, no matter how much the Qun states that everyone within it is equal, that simply isn't true.  People don't work that way.  Certain jobs, and therefore identities under the Qun, hold more prestige than others.  For instance, although farmers are highly important to society, you're probably going to see more respect granted to a priest than you are to a swineherder.  Much as BioWare wants to insist that this is not the case under the Qun, given the strict nature of the Qun and the necessity for brainwashing/torture... well, I think the Qun is about as far from perfect as a society is able to be.

I don't know from what I got in the game I believe Solas really dislikes the Qunari due to how they treat mages. So for me it would be a 180 if he was working with them.

I think the only reason Solas would ever "work" with the qunari is if a) to achieve a goal that they both agree on e.g. "sealing the breach", or B) he was deliberately manipulating them and would double-cross them in the end. Those two things needn't be mutually exclusive either. If something wrong is happening to the anchor, a source of magical power which controls the veil, that is likely of concern to Solas.

I also think double-crossing and tricking the qunari wouldn't be out of character for Solas. He is Fen'Harel, the god known for trickery and deceit as much as rebellion, who conquers his enemies through out-foxing them. Perhaps we'll see the myth come out more clearly here.

What I'm afraid of is that Solas' end goal is to get the anchor back - and likely, that means tricking the Inquisitor too. I wouldn't be surprised if Solas' original intention after getting his orb back would be to retrieve that piece of magic (I imagine it couldn't be easily replicated, otherwise Cory would have simply repeated the same thing he did with the Divine at the Conclave, although likely Solas knows more about how to use the orb that Cory does). It's possible he could be deliberately disrupting or affecting the anchor, encouraging the qunari to retrieve it (and exhuast some of the numbers/give away some intelligence in the process), and then snatch the anchor back right under everyone's nose.

DA:I starts in 9:41

Trailer for Trespasser says it's been 2 years since the Inq was built into a group everyone can respect.

I take this to mean 2 years since defeating Cory/closing the Breach.

My question is do we have a figure for how long the maingame events took? About a year maybe?

I'd say 3 years total since the game started. I think it's almost a year before we find Skyhold, so possibly 9:44.

The devs once said it took somewhere around 2.5-3 years.  So Trespasser probably happens in 9:44 or 9:45.

Anyway... anybody wonders who this TRESPASSER could be?

Is it the Qunari? Inquisitor? Solas?

The Inquisitor I bet. It seems everyone is against her and acting like she's getting in their way.
