I'm freaking out over his voice. He sounds different. He's not the unassuming hobo when he says that line. Hes very much Fen'Harel.

Now his voice in Decent makes sense. It was deeper, (darker in a way?) than his voice from the main game. Might have been hard to recapture his old tone if he recorded all the lines in one go.

Or is it just me?

Not just Fen'Harel. If he DID absorb Flemeth/Mythal then she's in him too now.

So if FemLavellan decides to continue the romance with SolaFen post Inquisition, does this mean she is engaging in a threesome with Elven Gods ?

That has got to be a Ménage à trois achievement in game. Perhaps Vhenan à trois ?

I'm pretty mushy by the fact that I call on my friends, even the ones that leave, and they come back no questions asked. Two years, I call Dorian and he drops it all to come to me. Loyalty.

8th of September? I can't even.

Ack.

I'm meant to have time to mentally prepare myself for this kind of thing. Words are failing me.

I was just checking twitter when Eurogamer posted an article saying the trailer appeared and vanished so I thought I'd stroll by my trusty Solas thread and YOU GUYS DELIVERED.

This is awesome. I've recently hit a personal goal and was going to treat myself to a game, however, one of the ones I wanted is out of stock everywhere and the other has massively shot up in price. SCREW THEM. DRAGON AGE IS HAPPENING.

SO MUCH PLANNING. I need to get my Solasmancer through the end of JoH, then through all of Descent, then redo the final boss and make an endgame save. My Dorianmancer just needs to redo the final boss and he'll be ready.

He goes first..maybe. I DON'T KNOW. MAYBE I'LL SOMEHOW PLAY THEM SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Angry Qunari, angry Fereldens, angry Orlesians. SO MUCH GOING ON.

Going by that leaked survey I'm guessing this will be the final DLC. It has a very end game feel about it in that trailer. Here's hoping I'm satisfied with my Inquisitors end and they don't just go wandering West to whereever my HoF and Hawke went

Nothing coherent is coming from me tonight. I need rest.

my hands are actually shaking a little...

Massive apologies everyone  I'm a so excited

Aside from the Qunari war and Solas hype, this is really what I want. I want my companions to come back to help my Quizzy like she helped them, no questions asked. The thought that Varric would just be on the first boat outta Kirkwall, Dorian would be receiving a raven one second and then packing his (massive) suitcase the next, even Cass/Leliana/Viv dropping their Divinity to back you up. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it.

We don't really know how powerful the Inquisitor's mark is, but the smart money's on really terrifyingly powerful.

We keep learning uber-powerful skills for it, and plus there's the small matter of allowing its wielder to walk physically in the Fade. And also control elven orbs, which are demonstrably super dangerous.

If the Inquisitor wasn't me, I'd want to get rid of them too. I wouldn't know their values or morality (actually, even knowing my Adaar's morality, I wouldn't trust him with the mark). For all everyone else knows, the inquisitor could be just as corrupt as Corypheus. I don't really blame the Qunari for wanting to eliminate the inquisitor, if that's their motivation. The inquisitor has way more power than anyone can safely have.

Exactly thiis ^

The Inquisition could potentially be the most powerful organisation in Thedas right now. They have Orlais and Ferelden - who the Inquisition saved - licking their heels and owing them tonnes of political favours. The current divine is either one of the Inquisitor's former companions or one of their most trusted advisors - meaning the Inquisition ranks highly in the mind of the chantry elite. It also has diplomatic relations with Nevarra, the Free Marches, and Antiva, and has done favours for possibly all those nations.

This is before we even consider the insane magical power the Inquisitor has in their mark.

The qunari are just thinking forward. If they conquer Tevinter, the next threat to their rule won't be Orlais, or Ferelden, or the Free Marches - it'll be the Inquisition. The Inquisition will be the one force behind which the rest of Thedas could likely unite behind to throw out the qunari. They're relatively non-partisan, and aren't representative of one nation or faction in particular (although have many ties to the Chantry, which was until recently a uniting force too), they've had multiple extraordinary successes militarily and politically, and they have immense magical power. Assassinating the Inquisitor would be an easy way to topple the organisation within - it could quite easily lead to a succession crisis, especially given that the Inquisitor is seen as a miracle-making/holy symbol/prophet to many - any sucessor won't have that kind of reputation, and may be seen as usurper, and will likely not receive such a warm welcome in Orlais/Ferelden.

A power that they did not ask for. A power they got by accident. Its a lot like Jean Grey's Phoenix Force. Yes it is powerful and dangerous, but the Inquisitor did not choose to have any more than Jean Grey chose to be bestowed with the Phoenix Force.

I would personally take a leaf out of Xavier's book and teach the Inquisitor to control the Mark instead of killing them for it. That's what he did with Jean Grey.

Agreed, that would be the ethical thing to do.

But if I lived in a world where a single person had world-ending power that they could use with no checks or oversight... I'd be too scared to be ethical. What if the inquisitor gets drunk? What if they get a brain tumor that alters their personality? What if a demon possesses them? What if the money gets to be too good? If if if if if...

It would be different if the entire Inquisition, combined, had the power of the mark. In that case, there could be sane people that put the brakes on the apocalypse. But it's way too risky if one person, acting independently, has the power to end the world.

I'm wondering if the Qunari knew what the Eluvians did, and that's the reason why the top brass didn't launch a full-scale invasion into Seheron?

They can appear far behind enemy lines without needing to worry about supply lines. Hopefully whatever Solas did isn't the reason why this is happening.

Which can be minimized or dealt with via diplomacy and/or economic means. Remember, niceness before knives.

Ah...but we are talking about Qunari, a group of unthinking pricks who don't do diplomacy and instead prefer to wage war due to the demand of the Qun...that comes from a single thick tome....

I actually understand why Ferelden and Orlais are acting the way they do and the means by which they are acting. Politics, public hearing, etc. It makes sense. It is what civilized people would do. Not the Qunari though.

What's more, why attack the Inquisition and the Inquisitor now. Why not after the Breach was sealed ? Why wait two years ? The Qunari are doing this to destabilize Southern Thedas in preparation for their cultist crusade, not out of alturism.

Beat you to it with Anders / Justice ;)

Anders is a combination of a mere human and a Fade spirit.

SolaFen post epilogue is a combination of Fen'Harel and Mythal.

That's a whole new level.

Anyone else think the dragon might be Solas in a dragon suit?

...

Okay now I have the mental image of Solas dressed up as a dragon and I have a mighty need for fanart of this dork now.

I went to go have a....quick...ehem, moment with the husband, and come back to this.

The thread just wasn't the thread without your overshares.

EDIT: and it's fricking close too. Did you see that release date? :o

GUUUUYSSSSSSS!!! Is it happening? Is it happening? Finally?

Just saw the trailer and OMG it was epic at the end.....THE END OF THAT VIDEO.

My God I'm having a meltdown. I literally screamed at the end of that!

I MADE A HIGH PITCHED SOUND.  I THINK IT SUMMONED BATS AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD DOGS.

He probably can't even shapeshift, he'll just progressively add more fur to his outfit until he transforms into a furry Stay-Puft man. "Do I look like a wolf now?" "No" <adds more pelts> "How about now"

Or wait, maybe his hair just grows really fast and every time he cuts it he goes "well, might as well add another pelt to my ensemble".

Maybe he trapped all the elven gods by burying them in pelts.

Pelts are the solution to everything.

More pelts.

MORE

PELTS!

Canon.

I'VE BEEN OUT ALL DAY. I DIDN'T THINK THERE WOULD BE NEWS UNTIL I WOKE UP TOMORROW.

I THINK I JUST SCREAMED FOR THE FIRST TIME

I CAN'T STOP TYPING IN CAPS.

I THINK I MAY HAVE A TEAR IN MY EYE.

HALP ME.

THERE IS NO HELP HERE, FALON.

THERE IS ONLY ENABLING.

The dreadlocks come from a number of initial, preliminary sketches by BW artists when they were trying to figure out Solas' design. I think a darker skinned, dreadlocked Solas was one of many design options they considered. They ended up going with the egg head we all know and love. But that's the reason you see the locks so much in fanart.

I'm a fan of the 'shaggy hair at the front, shaved at the back' look, better known as the 'screw you, Mythal.  You're not my real mum.  I DO WHAT I WANT' look.

@ terrible inquisitorial and mark power discussion:

yeaaa.. in a postgame fic I wrote about how in the years that follow, my Inquisitor becomes (as if she wasn't already) a warlord that destroys those who stand in her way (in the way of her agenda) and cuts a bloody path through thedas and how the mark became so powerful with it she can swallow entire armies.. all nice and grimdark... nice to see BW having parts of Thedas see this kind of threat in the Inky and explore this a bit.

It could be the Ben-Hasserath looking to destabilize the major powers' support for the Inquisition.

They're hidden amongst the nobility (see Josie's banter concerning Iron Bull). Mark of the Assassin gave Orlais the chance to purge their network from Thedas, but morality got in the way.

I'm not exactly a Qunari fan, but since when does anybody in Thedas use diplomacy to solve things like this? There is no UN or NATO equivalent and border skirmishes are common, from what we see of Tevinter/Nevarra.

As for why now? Why attack when public opinion would be highest aka directly after Corypheus. In 2 years public approval probably went down, the emergency powers the inquisition was granted to face the breach have probably waned a bit and most of your soldiers were probably furloughed. After all, once Corypheus is done, what do you need that huge standing army for???Why should nobles continue to donate large sums of money??

Lol I'm good! Not deep enough for stitches but after typing on here a bit, the blood was leaking through the bandage, and my wrist was stinging. My first words were "this is not going to be a good day" when it happened at noon and how wrong I was!

Thanks! I was lucky it was that cheap plastic/glass. And the darn thing didn't even break, just landed neatly on the floor at my foot after the edge cut me.

the number of saberaas for one

Hm, come to think of it, the saarebas presence has been surprisingly low up until now. They turn all their mages into weapons, so there aren't any mages back home doing healing or enchanting.

So if the same number of mages are born to each race, we'd expect to see more mages in combat on the Qunari side than the human side.  That said, they do selective breeding and kill their mages a lot more often than humans do, so that could account for the difference.
