I think we won't see Solas till end of DLC and the Inquisitor gets to talk to him briefly. I try to have no expectations whatsoever about the romance. 

 

I was a bit scared that his voice *did* sound different, BUT then there's what the folks at PAX said about him: he's kind and cares about all living things. That makes it officially canon right?

 

No matter what happens, I'm glad I'll be walking away from DAI with that one truth about him.

I think now we're going to be dealing a bit more with Fen'Harel. Not Solas anymore. I mean.....at this point he may not be trying to hide who he is....so he may act differently now.

 

Plus, we also don't know what kind of Inquisitor Solas in the trailer was speaking to. He talks a bit in that manner to a quizzy he doesn't like.

No matter what happens, I'm glad I'll be walking away from DAI with that one truth about him.

 

I think doing that will annoy a lot of people, there are many who feel betrayed by him (think he is an evil bastard and want to kill him, soulmanced!Lavellan players, players who like him and thought of him as a friend, etc.) and that would be a great way of really ruining a game for a lot of people.

Because, yeah, he may not be the focus of the DLC, but he is such a big part of the story that a little chat will not suffice (especially for those who want to punch him apparently because I keep seeing "YES SOLAS YOU MOTHERHUMPER I WILL KILL YOU" etc.)

I get the idea of not having your expectations up, and I really want to go with that mindset but since the team was really attentive to the players and their feedback (we are going to get a freakin' wardrobe, that's really something, to be honest) I just can't. I believe there will be closure, like real closure, I don't know about the romance arc though (*cough*Thane*cough*).

 

Seeing* not saying, ugh.

I wonder how all the Solas hate will go if it's revealed he is not a villain or evil or a betrayer in the end. Will the story content be sufficient to move people to a less hateful viewpoint, or will those same people be even more upset at Solas? I guess we'll see.

 

Of course, if he is a villain or an evil betrayer I wonder how that will leave everyone who liked him. I guess we'll see?

The Solas we knew was a good man, even the devs said that, but with Mythal in him... it's hard to say anymore. His over the shoulder glance was so Flemeth!

For supposedly being rare wtf did they all come from? LOL

I have a feeling they're "rare" in that not many are easily found. But it was a travel network across an empire, and there are a TON of them in the crossroads, so...

 

A lot of the exterior locales seemed pretty high up and surrounded by natural barriers, like mountains. I have a feeling when someone finally invents mechanized flight in Thedas, they'll see the landscape practically dotted with previously unknown/inaccessible ruins that were either lost or existed only as distant rumor.

Technically they said that it was important that that aspect come across in the translations. This could just mean that that *appearance* be preserved, but it doesn't HAVE to mean its the truth. I think it is, of course, but just saying. making sure he comes across as kind and caring for all people is possibly just making sure that that aspect is there for the players in other cultures to question as much as we might have when the stinger occurred and the rug gets pulled out from under you about his identity.

A lot of them were also twisted, with some sections upside-down, like in some sort of Escher illustration. Once we cross the eluvian in Winter Palace, I don't think we're in Thedas proper anymore... More like places 'in beween' Morrigan mentioned while in Corssorads.

Nooo don't lose the zen! I'm like 98% sure that what we saw from Solas as far as his personality is honest. The easiest covers to maintain are the ones with as much truth in them as possible, after all.

So, unsure how to feel about this, but I went on a Twitter spree post-trailer with the whole Titanic thing. Not saying Solas dies at the end or anything direct correlation like that, just the feeling of star-crossed lovers together for such a short and beautiful time but ultimately not meant to be. Which is honestly the vibe I get off the Solasmance these days, as much as I'd love for it to be sunshine-rainbows-together-forever.

 

So, I started posting up some of the lyrics from Celine Deon's "My Heart Will Go On", the love song from that movie. With a SOOOOLAAAASSSS at the end of each line.

 

And, uh, Patrick favorited this one. And only this one:
