I'm tempted to start an ULTIMATELavellan playthrough, with the bestest world state and all my greatest choices in order, so that she'll have a pretty complete playthrough in hand before tackling the DLC. I want my first shot of the DLC to be my Solasmancer so I get to experience it all with that firsthand bitter-sweetness. then my second (main) character will do it with with her (hopefully) satisfying Cullenmance. Ugh, it's just all too good. I'm both glad and sad that this is a final ending DLC.

Just watched the trailer, looks good, they definitely left the best for last. If I'm only allowed to ask Solas the same amount of questions as I'm allowed to ask Valta I'll be mad.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I'm hoping the Inquisition will fall in this dlc, trailer gives me hope.  ^_^

From what I gathered from the interview with Laidlaw..it will be up to us if the Inquisition falls or not.

But that means I only have 10 days to get my Lavellan from Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts to the endgame AND beat the first two DLC.  And I have to beat the frigging Nightmare with Varric, Cole, Solas and a mage!Lavellan because I care more about RP value than who is best for the quest.

Ugh, same! I have one other Lavellan (so two in total) but all of my other save files went poof! The save file that I do still have of my favourite Lavellan sits at the beginning of the game, shortly before the fall of Haven. So I'm really debating if I should go ahead and finish this playthrough (on hard) or re-create her or play someone different on nightmare.  -_-

I feel you. I need to clear Hakkon and start The Descent and I have an exam on Friday I haven't studied for, and like, 3 costumes to complete by 18th...It's sort of looking like I may not be able to play Trespasser asap...It's okay, I'll just focus on my Solas costume and cry instead.

Inquisitor: We saved Ferelden... and they're angry. We saved Orlais... and they're angry. We closed the Breach twice... and they're angry!

Meanwhile, somewhere outside of Orlais, the exiled Wardens are revelling in the irony;

Wardens: Yeah, it must be hard to treated like the bad guy by a group of self-righteous individuals, who've never had to make the hard decisions you have and show absolutely zero gratitude for all the times you saved the world... man, we can only wonder what that feels like?!

My biggest worry and regret at the moment is how my first and most complete game bugged out and I couldn't reunite Briala and Celene because Briala wouldn't f'ing appear no matter what I did. So she's exiled. I'd much rather have her to work with too, and wonder if it will make a difference in the DLC.

Second female Lavellan run has them reunited, but that playthrough is sitting just after that quest, so... Not going to have time to really get that to a finishing point by the time Trespasser launches, I don't think.

Firstworldgamerproblems I guess. :P

So because of the DLC hype I'm seeing a lot going around on Tumblr about how Solas is really Felassan and does anyone else find the thought of Fen'Harel piloting the rotting body of Best Elf to be really really frigging creepy?

Just me?

Please say it's not just me.

kwKMDsJ.gif

I really don't see Solas killing Felassan, nor inhabiting his body. I sincerely hope I'm not wrong about this particular matter.

I don't even have Jaws of Hakkon nor Descent

But I have two Lavellan games completed, both Solas romanced! I am so PUMPED for this DLC!!

Though I'll probably have to wait a long time to even get it <_< *such a poor sucker*

Btw, why are people believing Solas is using Felassan's body? been speculated before but why so much now?

Being simply alluded to doesn't qualify as anything. It is foreshadowing at best.

Unless it actually affects the story, there is no plotline. A story arc.

Flemeth is not being alluded she has plotline (it does affects story in every game).

In regards to Felassan I have no preference either way for what ended up happening to him, I think he served his purpose in the book, but I'd love to see more of him obviously. What I'm really hoping for is to see some more of Briala (with her obvious connection to the Eluvians), although for some reason I suspect we won't be seeing her.

I know everybody is freaking out about Solas right now but...if I could have a moment of your time to discuss:

LOGHAIN MAC TIR

Where is he??? I've spent 3 games keeping his grumpy ass alive!! Has the Warden Civil War thing just been going on for 2 years???? Weisshaupt just goes dark and nobody cares???

bby come back!

He walked into Weisshaupt knocked some heads together, became First warden and is now training griffons and preparing to invade Orlais and create Loghainland.

Oghren is there too.

Since this will be the end of this chapter, why couldn't Lavellan go off with Solas and then be rarely spoken of while Solas makes his cameos in the next chapters the way Mythal/Flemeth did?  Morrigan in one world state mentions her mate, the boy's father as being away but still in her life.  In Awakening, if you had romanced Zevran, he sends a note which proves he is still in the warden's life but is having to handle another matter.

I don't expect the DA4 will be an extention of DA3 anymore than the story of Kirkwall wasn't an extension of Origins.  There will be mention in passing of characters, but not appearances.  This could work for the romanced Solas as I doubt he will be in any new relationships as he won't be a party member in the future.

I have to say unless they are just big teases, Alix and Allegra's comments on Twitter and leaving me to believe our Inquisitor and co are going to have a teary end.

And as for the power dynamic, I dunno, it's uncommon, of course, but not unprecedented. In fact, if you were to believe the Chant, isn't the Maker and Andraste a good precedent? In any case, we don't really know the relationship the elven gods had with their people; haven't some postulated that they were in fact extremely powerful ancient elven nobles instead of actual gods?

The Maker and Andraste had a happy ending? If anything, the moral of that story was "if a god gets too attached to you, you'll make many enemies. When your enemies finally kill you, said god will probably end up snubbing all of Thedas out of pure spite. No pressure!"  :D

... and Solas is inherently tied to the plot-line she introduced - in fact he himself is in the story specifically to replace Flemeth. You can read about it in one of PC Gamer articles, where they talked with prominent devs.

Quote from it:

"I look at that as opportunity that adds wrinkle to the world," Laidlaw says "What it replaces is the 'what's up with Flemeth' mystery, that being a fundamental question that everybody was clamouring for us to resolve. I'll tell you how that part works, but then I'm going to introduce a new mystery, because I don't want that line to die."

I may be a bit "high" on the Team Optimism fumes, but I can't help but wonder if the Solas bit of the trailer is out of context and time placement. Meaning, what if that isn't some kind of end scene, a la Witch Hunt, but instead a scene that happens earlier in the DLC? Yes, yes...I am a greedy Solas fan, and am grasping at straws in the hope of having him as an actual companion again, but-but....why not?? If our mark is causing us trouble, than we may need more than a few minutes of his time. Then it would make some sense that he comes in to play much earlier in the DLC, and is once again a potential party member. If he does have more than a five minute cameo the way Morrigan did in Witch Hunt, then I could see BW not wanting to reveal that. Keep that aspect spoiler free. Maybe? I'm high, aren't I...

(btw, the above isn't based solely on the romance arc, but also Solas' presence, the mark, and his general role in DAI. Though I still hope for sumtin' gud with the LI story.)

I think it's possible this is not the end of the DLC. I hope it isn't because with the Anchor acting up and a lot of this other stuff going on and ancient elfy things coming into play, I do think Solas could have more of a part to play than just at the end. I hope he does.

'If you’ve seen the ending, you know Solas is a special circumstance. I’m not going to promise that he rejoins the party and things are great, but he will make an appearance. I know people are excited about that. Solas remains an exceedingly complicated and enmeshed character in the world. In the course of the DLC, we’re not going to wrap up his storyline – that’s just way too complicated. But we can add a lot of texture and information to it, so it isn’t just this one note of confusion. Instead, it’s an opportunity to learn more about his situation in a way that we may be able to explore in future games. If there are future games.'

He also doesn't promise that he won't though.

I had this glitch too and then I accidentally progressed the mission too far and ran into Florianne. So I changed it in Keep to have Celene & Briala reunited since that's what I was trying to do anyway.

There is something that I have been wanting to ask, die hard fans of solas. I have had this theory... well hunch really, that solas in his attempt to correct past bad choices, has been the cause (manipulating behind the scenes) of every great tragedy in thedas. Now its just a hunch, not saying its true or that I want it to be true ( I really don't) but "if" it were true....Would you still love him? Would you still get back with him, given the opportunity? Would you forgive him/keep that knowledge to yourself? For me, yes to all questions....I just don't want to have to take him out, I want the choice to forgive him IF my hunch turns out to be true.

Just so you know, I may not romance solas (cause I only play as a qunari/dwarf) but I still love his Character and hope the best for his story to end on a good note.

That'll work for import into DA4, but it won't help me here for the DLC. Oh well... I'll roll with it and see how it goes. Might not even be anything in the end.

Hey, I got a couple "likes" back! :D

Now I am off to see if my save folder is good to be merged with my new save folder. I just got the game reinstalled yesterday, on my new SSD (after my less than 30 days old HDD imploded :P ). I had managed to grab my save folder from the bad HDD, before it went completely defunct. Just hope all goes well, and my saves are fine. *crosses fingers!*
