Our Levallan's have been LOCKED into this romance, alone, for two...sodding...years.
I was thinking about this earlier on, how tragic the romance is (as if we didn't know that already). Someone mentioned some pages back (I'll paraphrase as best I can) that the romance is for Solas, that Lavellan is the one trying to woo him, whereas with most romances in DA (and ME for that matter) where all the protagonist usually has to do is say "do me" and they will. With this role-reversal, when we get the breakup scene, it's Solas' choice to lock himself in, and he chooses the broken heart icon every time.
We've all talked about how much of a tragedy it is for Solas, how he really wants this but goes against it for whatever he deems as the greater good, but the tragedy is there for Lavellan too. She's locked in, she can't move on, and now we know it's been -canonically- two years being locked into a dead romance.
Poor girl. D: I'm sticking with what Mims mentioned earlier and will continue to hope for at least a promise to meet again one day, but if we don't get that then I'd like the choice to back out so Lavellan can find someone else, and not even to romance someone else in the Inquisition (that'd be a gunshot romance, wouldn't it!), just be able to move passed him if the option to go with him or wait for him isn't there.
