means we get to go to June's temple. It's a total no logic to it hope....but those elves on the wall have his vallaslin! And I have a weird obsession with June. I think it's because I'm a crafter in real life....

 

I want to know what June really did and why it points out there is not much reference to him in elven lore.

 

Like really, if we go to June's temple that will totally make up for being re-dumped by Solas in the DLC. For me anyway.....probably not enough for my Lavellan....but plenty enough for me.

I'm half hoping this DLC will finally have our Sandal cameo and it will involve him being connected to June. lol

Anyways! They said he would not be the Solas we remember or to be exact...

At first I read this and gnawed my finger. Then I realized that could be fascinating and fantastic, as long as he remembers us. He could have flashy elfy magic in his eyes. He could make my Lavellan take a step back when he turns around just because his presence is all ancient and overwhelming. And she might struggle to comprehend his words, especially if the well-drunk voices in her head start whispering about Fen'Harel in frustrating backwards speak.

None of that would matter as long as he still calls her Vhenan.

Funny enough, popping in here and reading all the different fan theories brought to mind a moment from Episode 3:

"Anakin, you're breaking my heart. You're going down a path I can't follow."

 

It didn't occur to me that the Solas we meet in Trespasser might be entirely different from the Solas who left us at the end of DA:I, hmmm.  I like the theory, but until I see more I am in the boat that Solas is Fen'Harel is The Dread Wolf - they have always been one & the same.

Lol I just wanted to tell you guys that I ran into a Solashater boyy... obiviously. Without knowing me when he said that Solas derves to die because he gave the orb to cory and I told why because of what he said.. he started calling me solas fan... though I romanced Solas it does not mean as a fan that I would love him lol he did **** for inq and I AM NOT my inq so I will see what I will decide to say but yes.. what I told him was:

This.  There is no one way to like any character or engage with them I should say.  I've seen chill and valid arguments made why an Inquisitor would like to bring solas in for justice. That's kind of the point with how he was written.

Same.  I have gamer friends IRL but none of them are really into DA.  It's good to have this place.

 

Yeah, I can see why you might take that the wrong way. As much as I love Solas I am thinking about dropping his tag until Trespasser is out and things have calmed down a bit. There's like a band of ultra rabid fans just ripping into anyone who makes a joke about the romance, or doesn't take it super seriously. It's so weird to me. People play the game in all sorts of interesting and unique ways. Where one person might be super srz about it, another might've only seen the romance as something fun and temporary. It's upsetting to see all the people attacking the ones who would just like to have a bit of fun with their video game fandom. I guess it goes back to respecting other peoples' headcannons, something I know we've talked about here in the Solas thread a loooot haha. I'll probably keep hardcore stalking this thread though, since I don't really see any of those negative attacks here. (Plus I can get all my Solas art fix here thanks to Sunny and NightSymphony)

 

I get what you're saying but often people can get defensive if they don't get that things are injokes, or said in good fun.  Respecting others in the fandom is important, and it goes both ways.

 

I made Alistair bonk Morrigan so my Warden could live.

I made Alistair king so Stroud would be Warden so I could send him to go cuddle Nightmare, letting my purple Hawke walk scot-free!

Apparently, if you live forever, you eventually learn too much and it just gets depressing. XD Although the secrets the priests of Dirthamen kept were enough to drive them mad without Dirth there to comfort them.

Just popping in to say I absolutely love having Solas and Vivienne in the same party. Two of my favorite characters (my heart breaks I can't romance her) and they sass each other for days. It's awesome.

I dunno, besides the whole drug addict thing, Cullen romance is just about as fluffy as you can get. At least that ending is sure to make me happy. He probably proposes or she ends up with 14 kids or something.

 

Yeah, I can see the lucky Cullenites getting some special scene.    I have always wished I could romance Cullen (just for the happy ending), but I just... can't. I mean, after having experienced the ultimate smoothness that is Solas, how is it possible to want anyone else? I've even tried romancing Cullen, it just felt so bland.

I just realized that the two completed games I have, both Solasmancers, have a few different things.

 

Arlatha: Didn't drink from well, vallaslin removed, Grey Wardens exiled (killed Loghain), Celene alive with Briala exiled and Gaspard dead, Cassandra Divine

Laryu: Drank from well, kept vallaslin, allied with Wardens (Warden Alistair dead), Celene dead with Gaspard being Briala's puppet, Leliana Divine

 

Can't think of any other differences that I think would have an impact in the DLC...this will be VERY interesting!

Thinking back on it I did have a "cruel to be kind" mentality when it came to my protagonists. x) Okay, so Alistair didn't want to be king or doink a woman he absolutely hates, but it was so I wouldn't have to choose between him and leaving poor Fenris all alone after Hawke promising she'd never leave him. ;_;

I love the ancient elven sayings (the real stuff, not the Dalish legends). Both dirthara'ma and "The healer has the bloodiest hands."

 

Maybe Solas will drop some more of those at some point.

I prefer to think of the adorkable Fade nerd and the giant black Dread Wolf god as facets of the same person.  We just didn't see as much of the Dread Wolf in Inquisition: occasionally bits of that element to his personality slip out, like at Halamshiral.  So maybe we'll see more of that side to him this time.

Me too, I've always thought they were facets of Solas. I was never one to believe that Solas was a liar and hypocrite; of course, he lied by omission, and probably played up the fade nerd aspect of his personality, but I never saw him as pretending to be something he was not. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

 

I'm excited to see the full Fen'Harel, I'm sure it will be... utterly intriguing

Seriously, I hope so. Because if we meet up with him and he's pulling a Flemeth you-know-not-what-you-ask cryptic line of bull**** I will slap a *****. I mean really. You're an all powerful god or something, sure, but we traveled together for a not inconsiderable amount of time, had long conversations about the Fade and spirits and stuff, and I got to watch you set your clothes on fire and slip me Fade tongue. Do not even start with the poncy over the top crap.

 

I expect Solas to be different. I want to see more of what we glimpsed beneath the surface. But he'd better not goddamn forget that we aren't stupid and can handle grown up conversations.

It definitely goes both ways. I always think the best course of action if someone doesn't get a joke is to politely ask the artist/writer to clarify their meaning, rather than lodge personal attacks against the creator. Which is what I'm seeing a lot of today, and why I brought it up. Myself and most of the artists I know on Tumblr love it when people come to them and ask them questions about the art, jokes and writing they create. I know if someone doesn't get my thought process or intent behind a piece I absolutely looove to break it down for them.

I don't know if the TO drug I'm taking (consisting of cake and fizzy drinks) is making me delusional, but I honestly feel great about this DLC, I'm super excited! I expect tough decisions (possibly) but I think we're going to love it, and we'll come back after its release and run this thread into 10 new pages every half an hour with speculations, headcanons, and both in-depth and crazy theorycrafting until we have another form of glittery pantheon!
