But work today...I think I've just accepted that nothing is getting done.  Very hard to think intelligent thoughts about data when Solas gifs short-circuit me every few seconds.

 

Tell me about it. Fortunately I'm mostly doing experiments, so my mind can wander while my hands are occupied. But I have to resist the temptation to constantly blather to the whole lab about the DLC and to call the younger grad student I'm mentoring da'len. 

 

So, all in all, the thread kind of helps stay sane at work despite DLC announcement.

....Ungh, I suppose I should use my spare time to at least finish some drawings, aside from unfinished playthorughs... 

 

I'm going to wait for the patch to drop before I go and redo the end game with my two Lavellans. Just to make sure it's all peachy. Then I'm going to play around with their appearances a little to give them a slight change to make it feel like two years have passed.

 

I really do hope it actually feels that way. Because time never felt like it moved that far in DA2.

 

In the meantime I have plenty of things I should be doing. But my mind just keeps wandering to DA. I've been here, obsessing over Solas for, um, just over a year now. My brain is on full 'end of the line' narrative mode   this is where a montage of my post history would play with some meaningful music. Like Coldplay or something. 

 

 

Oh hands down Solas.  I've weaned myself off the Anders poison.  Solas still has me firmly in his clutches.

 

Though I agree with Oswin: DAI Zev, with just a bit of silver at the temples, still all cocky and badass ten years after Origins...*drools*

Zev is my first Bioware love. He just suits my personality type really well so he became an instant fave. Also, I liked having him cracking his inappropriate jokes every step of the way in DAO. Much better than being constantly reminded of your impending doom

May I introduce you to Zevran Arainai?

 

Beyond the whole "failed to assassinate you" thing, he legit has zero drama. No break points. No dumping you because you're an elf/mage/dwarf or because you thought another warden could be handy to have around. 

 

He doesn't even really lose approval if you do shitty things.

I really wish I liked Zev more than I do.  His romance is fun and drama free but I've never rolled a single Warden who I felt had a connection to him.

 

I wonder what we'll argue about for the next four years while we wait for a new game. Surely, we can't keep going round and round over who does or does not like him.

 

There's always the 'what is Solas' sexuality' to fall back on.

 

And I'll be all alone in the Solas thread.

 

I'll be here!  I like ME, but I'm a Dragon Age fan.

 

Also, with Solas looking set to become a recurring character, I'm guessing another fan thread will spring up in the DA4 section and we'll all reunite there.

 

But in case not -  I just want to say:

 

It has been seriously fun hanging out here with all of you.

I cycle between ME, DA, and Deus Ex fangirlism these days.  Come to think of it, I'm definitely glad that DA:I DLC is concluding before Mankind Divided drops.  I think I mentioned it to Kissiebear, but I would literally explode if I had to handle Solas feels and Jensen feels at the same time.

Headcanon is great and all, but sometimes it can wreck us for the actual thing.  We get so invested in what we want to happen, what we dream will happen, that what actually happens couldn't ever measure up.  Fandom imagination doesn't have restraints like budget or animation or future plot hooks.  So, ya know, with great power comes great responsibility or somesuch

Oh boy it's been a while since I popped back in here!  Nice to see so many familiar faces have stuck around.  I didn't mean to go on hiatus for so long I swear!  I hadn't been playing DAI the last few months, I would still read the forums every once and a while, but I just wasn't active.

 

How about that DLC trailer?!  I was thinking it looked interesting, and I was so happy that Alix was the Inqy they used for it.  And then that last frame.  I've been away so long I wasn't expecting the reaction that I had.  (It all came flooding back omg)  Also didn't help that I am slightly compromised this week because I just came back from visiting my fiance for 3 weeks.  In a total funk cuz coming back home is always rough.  And then the Solas feels!  Again!

As much as I'd love a sort of 'enemy' ending with Solas, seems like Solas actually has the most plot armor of any character involved in the DLC. We already know he's needed for the next game.

 

Surprisingly, it is the Inquisitor who seems the most in danger of being killed off.
