I'm trying to force myself into the idea that I'm not actually going to get what I want, so I'm coming up with senarios where I won't be too upset at her ending alone.

Because I can't see any way they can end up together. Not really. I'm trying to work myself into acceptance.

Yep! That's me. I feel not only will I not get what I want but its going to be heartbreaking so I'm trying to headcanon my Lavellan having toughened up her heart and try to move on.

I feel like when she sees him again though those feels are coming back hard. Lavellan has been busy dealing with ungrateful jerks in Thedas but Solas is just going to remind her of everything that could've been.

Or, you know, we might learn he really is a nutbag jerk who is laughing merrily at everything crumbling around him. Then I'll just want to knee him in the nuts and tell him his fashion choices are just as bad as they ever were.

 

I doubt that is (the whole) truth, based on the fact that Weekes explained time and time again that he was so close to telling Lavellan the truth. A mad trickster god who laughs others in the face wouldn't approve of every single helpful thing that the Inquisitor does for people in desperate need of help. Be interested in the things that he has to say? He approves. Help those in need? He approves. Breathe air? Heck, he approves! ...I can certainly see him putting on an act of being nothing more than a trickster, though. He'd stop the act eventually with Quizzies that are his friend and might even break down with a Lavellan that romanced him. That would give us variety, make sense considering that he has gone through some change but wouldn't kill off the fact that his feelings for Lavellan were real and that friendly Inquisitors were actually real friends for him.

There's a lot of people wagering on sadness. Maybe. But I still think what I thought when I first joined this thread -- we'll have different outcomes with him based on our choices. Maybe something sad, something sweet, or something just plain destructive. I wave my BIG GIANT optimism flag as high as ever! And I have an optimism hat too I think. -puts it on for good measure- Our flags have gotten us this far 8D

D: That particular option is KILLING ME, specially because I chose it, I thought it would be romantic, but now I think it's the complete opposite D: Like.... In an after-credits scene in DA5, Solas rejoins with Lavellan and they ride happily on a snoffleur into the sunset. 

 

Child#1: Mommy, why are you crying?

drosophila: It's OK, da'len... err, I mean, kiddo. Mommy's just really happy, because she got a truly wonderful present she's been waiting for a really long time. 

Child#2: Oh, god, she's speaking Elvhen again... Wait, is that the bald creepy elf? He's stupid and his head looks like a butt!

drosophila: Call Solas stupid again and you'll be collecting the shards for everyone's playthroughs for a month!

husband: *thinking* Hmmm, I wonder if I can trick him into calling Solas stupid somehow... And doing all the fetch quests... And farming schematics... Also you give up three of your save slots to be divided between the rest of us!

So how many people have Lavellans who, even if a together ending is possible would reject it due to their preexisting feelings about Fen'Harel (or about liars in general)?

I remember the moment when I came to the temple of Mythal and knew my elf would choose to skip the rituals. And it was somehow worse, knowing how fun the puzzles were and knowing that I was choosing to get the ancient elves slaughtered. But it was the only correct RP choice for her.

How many of us would be in that situation with Solas?

Honestly, though, now that some time has passed and the story isn't fresh I'll be okay as long as this whole thing doesn't end in complete and utter devastation. Then again Solas did invoke junior high feelings. In my Inquisitor. Not me. Because I don't obsess over characters like ever.

personally, I'm fine with either sexually or lore-wise, but if anything even remotely devastating pops up that has to do with Solas I think I might die (ok not really but I will probably cry and not be able to sleep the night after)

Oh well yeah. I don't obsess over characters either. Its my inquisitor who is having these feelings. Or she will. I mean, probably. I'm too busy doing my taxes and paying bills to care about some silly game's devastating emotional turmoil. Oh no not me!

 After everything that has been revealed about the DLC....this is my last thread of hope for being optimistic. And it is a tiny.....tiny thread.

 

We shall see.

As much as I'd love a sort of 'enemy' ending with Solas, seems like Solas actually has the most plot armor of any character involved in the DLC. We already know he's needed for the next game.
 
Surprisingly, it is the Inquisitor who seems the most in danger of being killed off.

In regards to this, someone made an excellent point on one of the other threads. This is an optional add on - one that many people are cut off of because the poor sods have the base game on xbox 360 or ps3. Would they really kill off your hero just because you bought the add on? I don't doubt there's a big decision. Maybe even the sacrificial one because Bioware, but I have a tiny sliver of hope that our inquisitors aren't absolutely doomed to die just because we gave them 15 bucks. :3

Very tiny sliver, mind.

And since we know Solas has to survive, I guess I imagine the big decision to have more of a local, gut punch feel rather than a huge world-state altering effect. Perhaps something along the lines of the following lovely options, based on the idea that only Solas can fix or stabalize your mark:

#1: (bittersweet option) Let Solas take the mark. You are cured and he then walks out of your life forever, but on good terms. You are free to return to your field buddies and save them with your own skills. Afterwards you can return to the inquisition and try to help it out of it's mess, with less glow. There are mixed results.
#2: (only available to friends/lovers) Keep the mark. Go with Solas. He can keep the mark from killing you - maybe even use it to make you more like him over time, but you have to help him do his elfy things. Meanwhile your field companions are all slaughtered, and the inquisition has to make do without you entirely. This will likely result in it being dissolved by force when Skyhold is attacked and many other people you knew are killed. Meanwhile your inqusitor ends up on the side of milk cartons all across Thedas with a caption "Have you seen me?"
#3: (ragemonster option) Attack Solas. Because you are you, and he has his Fen'harel mojo back, he will win and take the mark by force. He'll then use it to knock you away as he storms through the Eluvian to do his elfy things alone, grumbling about foolish mortals. It then goes according to #1.
#4: (sacrificial option, of sort) Keep the mark. Stay. Solas leaves after a heartfelt or not so heartfelt farewell. You save your buddies using the mark, and return to the Inquisition. You're able to solve all their problems because you still glow, but it eventually takes your life. Cue a Sarah Mclachlan song as your inquisitor's ashes are gathered in an urn and put in a temple and people come from miles around to worship them. Alternatively the ashes are swept up by a janitor and tossed in a latrine if you were a jackass to everyone, and the world rejoices.

These are the sort of selections I can work with, although I guess what I'm really hoping for is some sort of To be Continued that hints at us having the option to keep our characters for DA4. I'd really like my Lavellan to be in the game, under my control, if Solas is part of it. I do know I would not be okay with him absorbing her soul. If that does end up being the only way to stay with him, they will be able to hear my <Disgusted Noise.> in outer space.

You know, it's funny how similar excitement and utter dread feel. It's hard to tell exactly which one has taken hold of you at any given moment. Just something one learns while waiting for September 8th.
