The saarebas magic in DA2 was bright white, if I recall correctly.

Though...crackpot theory time.  Remember the Executors war table mission, and how your advisors rule out the qunari very quickly?  They could be both right and wrong.  What if the Executors are the original slaves of the elven pantheon, and stayed loyal to them while the rest of their kin eventually became the qunari?  Trailers lie all the time; your enemies could look like qunari, but not actually follow the Qun.

It's not entirely crackpot!   I can imagine a split between like the one between Dalish and alienage elves: one side embraced the Qun while the other maintained ties to an older Pantheon.  The book that's strapped to the female Qunari's arm in the trailer looks a lot like the Tome of Koslun from DA2, though.

Spoiler

Which would potentially fit a Tamassran, given that it's a branch of the Qun priesthood.

And because I have way too much time on my hands until next Tuesday, it looks like the book that the Inquisitor mic-drops in front of the Fereldan ambassador is the Inquisition tome from Haven, not the ToK- which tweaks the potential timeline a bit.  The whole political breakdown might happen before we catch wind of the Qunari.

Spoiler

Sort of off topic, but on the topic of Qunari-  I was wandering around the Fallow Mire yesterday and came across a codex, a letter, I think, about the "horned men" that were there. Were they talking about the Avvar? Why would the Qunari be in the Fallow Mire?

I'm searching everywhere for the stupid codex. Maybe I'm imagining things.

Pretty sure they were talking about the Avvar.   No natural horns, but they definitely dig the style.    :D

I am talking to one of my friends over FB and she is not very emotionally expressive and all, and she laughs when I mention I have the pre-feels for the inevitable feels. And my boyfriend didn't finish the game but didn't want me to spoil anything so I can't explain or talk to him about the feelings I have.

My boyfriend just laughs and shakes his head at me.  He knows better than to try and reason his way through the hellspiral.

It's not entirey cracpot: I could imagine a split between the Qunari and the "others" like that between Dalish and alienage elves: one embracing the Qun, while the other maintained an older Pantheon.  The book that's strapped to the female Qunari's arm in the trailer looks a lot like the Tome of Koslun from DA2, though.

Huh.  Didn't notice that it looked like the ToK.  I did think, "Wow, who straps a BOOK to their arm?"  Maybe it's just me, but the big old book just makes me wonder how she gets around without whacking it into everything.

It would depend on a lot of things for my Lavellan.  The first and most important consideration would be whether immortality serves a greater purpose.  The second would be how much it forces her to give up her identity; she let Morrigan take the Well because she didn't want to lose herself to it.  And somewhere in the huge list of concerns is Solas too :)

Sable you bastar-

Wait, wait, no hellspiral this time. :o

:P

I'm a gonna go with this theory for now. It's odd that the Qunari would try to assassinate the Inquisitor. If it's to cause chaos, the kingdoms are already causing some by trying to tear the Inquisitor down. Maybe it's because they've trespassed into the sacred land of the Fade, but hell, they were willing to have an alliance. If they cared about it that much, I doubt the Qun would allow them to ally when they could keep killing Venatori on their own. And their apparently using the Eluvian network is weird as all hell. I've heard that Qunari Inquisitors, like elves, don't get the same level of weird mist in the Crossroads as humans or dwarves do. Combined with Gatsi's murals, and ancient pictures depicting horned people in Par Vollen dedicated to the Sun (Elgar'nan), Corypheus referring to them as a mistake when the Qunari Invasion was long after his time, the references to dragon blood, alteration, and rage, and so on...

The Executors make some threats, and then act polite and talk about preparing for some sort of event to happen. If their higher powers are the Creators, that would explain the Eluvians. If they were the Forgotten Ones, that would explain their masters' locations as well. After all, Geldauran did say they were going to leave Arlathan territory to build their strength in secret.

Varric's quest-chain includes a message from the Executors. The one that Worthy denies having written, that has the six crossed swords that are also their symbol in Varric's book.

"YOU ENCROACH UPON THE DOMAIN OF HIGHER POWERS. YOU WILL ANSWER TO US."

The Cullen ending to the Those Across the Sea War-Table mission goes,

'Three Inquisition outposts along the Nevarran border were later found abandoned, yet with no sign of a struggle or looting. A message was left in each outpost:

"We hold your Inquisition in high esteem. Thedas's present troubles are great, but you have the strength to meet and conquer them. More will come. We prepare for the day and hold vigil. Do not look for your men, do not mourn them. They have given themselves of their own free will to a higher cuase.

On behalf of powers across the sea, The Executors"

With Leliana,

"Compliments to your spymaster. She is a resourceful woman. Once she traced our agent to Caimen Brea, the match was ruled in her favor. Tell Sister Leliana to call off her dogs. Save them for Corypheus. We suspect also that she has gotten all she can from Ser Helmuth. A caterpillar on a leaf does not know there is a forest about him.

You will hear no more from us. Our intention was to watch, and we have seen enough. Corypheus threatens us all, and the Inquisition is Thedas's only hope for stopping him. Remember that, for the moment, we are not your enemy. As a gesture of goodwill, we share our knowledge. May it prove valuable in your coming battle.

On behalf of powers across the sea, The Executors"

The part about the caterpillar sounds very Qunari, doesn't it? :D So we've got these Higher Powers, presumably in Amaranth, and we've got their agents in Thedas, the Executors. They seem surprisingly friendly, but encroaching on someone's domain sure sounds like trespassing...;)

Then again, Bull says they 'came south' to Thedas, while Amaranth is to the east...*shrug*

Also,

ALL OF THE EXCITEMENT! ALL OF THE SOLAS FEELS! ALL OF THE DECKING OUR SOLASMANCER OUT IN TIER 4 GEAR AND GETTING HER REAVER ON!

That's what has me so suspicious.  The qunari stamp on magic harder than any other culture.  They only teach their saarebas offensive spells.  Where the hell would they get the know-how to properly use an eluvian when it took Morrigan years, after being taught by Flemeth and stealing knowledge from the Dalish?  Ben-Hassrath, maybe, but would non-mages observing an unfamiliar technique then be able to turn around and teach it to the saarebas?  I doubt it.  It's also possible that Briala's control of the eluvian network was compromised, but she seemed pretty attached to that password.

Though (unless I'm remembering wrong) I don't think qunari believe the Fade is sacred.  They believe it's the land of the dead, and qunari are forbidden to go there.  Since the Inquisitor isn't qunari (Vashoth at closest), that restriction shouldn't apply to quizzy, should it?

*snip something about Qunari and Dragons and Mistakes*

If Gilly literally took a bunch of elven slaves and mated them with Dragons I'm going to be terribly grossed out.

Me: *bawling* And he's been sad and alone for two whole years!

Husband: *hugging me with extreme patience* Well, Mythal must've kept him company.

Me: *bawling much louder* That's not any better!

My party will be Cole & Cass ( duh) and Dorian for comfort and protection ( since my mage never bothered to learn to cast a barrier with Solas around)

I think I'll craft some new armor for the Trespasser, I always enjoy to have matching outfits. * starts thinking about colour schemes *

,,,WHY IS THERE AN OGRE FOLLOWING THE QUNARI OUT OF THE ELUVIAN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TRAILER?

Dalek Chorus: EXPLAIN! EXPLAIN!

This is how Eluvians get tainted, I'll bet.  <_<

It's going to be so weird picking 3 teammates to take for Trespasser when Solas was always a staple for the rest of the game. I only played JoH once and that was before finishing the main story, so I still had him, and I haven't played the Descent yet.

Ususally it's "Okay, which 2 teammates shall I take?" I feel so spoiled right now!

Edit: Providing the difficulty spike isn't too bad, I'll take Cole (obvs.), Bull, and either Varric or Dorian.

Maker noooooo.  The qunari don't need red lyrium to get any nuttier.  They don't need ANY lyrium.  Maybe they can have a nice cup of cocoa and send strongly worded letters instead of an invasion fleet.

Dunno.  It has the model and outline of an ogre, but it glows green like a saarebas.  If it IS an ogre, how the f*** are the qunari controlling it?

Poor Dorian is going to have to respec and become the new party nanny. No more burninating and raising the dead in his future! But on the plus side, he'll get all of Solas's gear before Solas tries to make off with it. Planning on bringing Dorian, Cole, and Iron Bull for the DLC. I'd love to fit Cassandra in somewhere, but alas.

I'll have to actually beat the game too. I've kind of been idling on a save just before the final boss.

It's the kissy noises and floating hand motions from quizzy that make me laugh.  It makes it look like she's got her hands in the air because she literally doesn't know what to do with this vigorously motorboating elf :D

To be honest, every team member seems like they'll have interesting to say.

My current team is usually mage!Inq, Solas, Blackwall & Iron Bull. I sometimes switch Blackwall with Cassandra...

This is a nightmare run so I'm not taking squishy rouges >_>

Sera will lose her ****, because Fen'Harel, elven pantheon, etc.

Cole (who I believe will remember Solas, he probably was just made to forget Solas' destination and the connection to Solas) will probably have interesting insights if turned more spirit, human Cole might be emotional over seeing an old friend.

Varric will be comic relief, "well, sh*t". He is one of those who know Solas for the longest time, I wonder if he'll call him Chuckles. Or Dark Chuckles.

Cassandra I'm really interested in, she's come to trust him and will probably feel utterly betrayed. Also, with her faith fluctuating this may break her (if Solas speaks about the truth).

Dorian is another comic relief, and perhaps emotional support? I think he, as a Tevinter mage, part of the culture that erased the history of the elves, will be astonished to find out Solas' true identity. Maybe he'll even have some insight, seeing he is very sharp.

Iron Bull will be very relevant because of the Qunari invasion, also, for the fact his keen senses and eyes didn't help him in finding out who Solas is. Lore wise he'll be cool to have around, character wise he'll probably be interesting with observations and as comic relief.

Blackwall will feel Solas is a hypocrite for the way he treated him after his real identity was found out.

Vivienne is the only one whose relevance I'm not certain of. Maybe someone can think of something. I'll still be interested in hearing what she has to say, but perhaps I'll watch a video afterwards.

Maybe I'll switch up or do a few runs of the DLC (or at least the part when we meet Solas, even if it'll be heart wrenching to experience over and over).

I think so too. If they really made it so that every companion has changed depending on player choices and interactions with a romanced companion are unique, I don't see them also putting resources into the reaction of every version of every companion when they meet Solas. I think it's far too complicated, both story-wise and development-wise. Besides, hopefully there would be some romantic content with Solas.
