I've been rushing to complete the game by the 8th, but there's just so much to do...
Quick question: I had always intended for Descent to be part of my "canon Solavellan playthrough," but since that seems to be taking so long... is it really important? I've heard it described as a dungeon-crawler, but based on the many spoiler-heaving forum conversations when it first came out, I'm guessing it also had some interesting revelations? I'm really drowning in things to do in my playthrough, so if it's not important I might have to skip it. =(

If you remotely care about your quizzy or the lore of DA... it's worth it.
I seem to be completely on the different time zone with everyone else, so most conversations happen when I am asleep, so sorry for bringing up things from 5 pages ago lol

I really hope not. The way Felassan spoke about his boss it implied they were not a nice person. I can't see Solas murdering a follower. Given he showed no interest in the Eluvians, and Briala didn't recognise him at all mean that there is no way Fen'Harel is riding around in Best Elf's rotting meatsack.
Yeah, I am with you on this one. I keep theorising that Felassan's vallaslin is a spoiler because it is one of the vallaslins we saw in the charts, so we would be able tell which god it is. And I do think it is significant that (at least so far) we have not seen a Fen'Harel vallaslin.

There are revelations but I think they will play bigger part in DA4, rather than end of Inquisition. I would say Jaws are much more Trespasser relevant than Descent. I think you could skip if you are in a hurry.

SO I finished The Masked Empire (surprised it took me so little time).

My first two playthrough were done without knowing of The Masked Empire, first PT I let Celene rule alone and spared Gaspard the sword (I hated Briala) and in the second PT the three of them united to work together (though I was certain at the time it's bound to fail but I really wanted to feel badass for outplaying EVERYONE).
The current PT I let Celene stay and with Briala at her side, since I'm roleplaying I couldn't bring my diplomatic!Lavellan to let Celene die, if you look at it from the side then it looks like Celene has done more good than bad, and she's done a lot of bad. Objectively speaking, the fact she values knowledge and scholarship upon war and fighting is a good thing. Briala is also very smart, so I trust her to not fully trust Celene again and take care of herself.
At the end Celene is the queen of the Game, she's very resourceful, very dangerous, but is not without compassion.
Only slightly relevant: I can't accept the fact Celene is 37 (as far as I can recall she was born at 9:04), she looks like she's 60
Same can be said for divine Justinia V, the books talk about how she is relatively young (compared to the previous divine) but the game makes her look like she's 80-90, SO MANY WRINKLES I CAN'T EVEN.

He has "Chevalier honor" only when it suits him, and just has the biggest ego ever, wanting to make war and spread filthy colonialism whenever he can. Will never not love Briala, nor try to let her better the conditions of elves the best way she can. And the best and safest way for her to do that, is to rule with Celene.

It dawned on me that if my Inquisitor does die, then I am officially insane for having spent extra money on content that wipes out all my hard work from the original. It took me ages to perfect them in that CC! Do you know how many Inquisitors never made it through the gates!? Dozens! DOZENS!
I've also decided that this will be the last Dragon Age game...
When do you guys reckon that patch is going to drop? I really want to prepare my saves and alter my quizzies appearances to pass the time. But I'm waiting for that patch.

I like Gaspard as a character, he's very well done. He is very racist, and for that my characters wouldn't get along with him, as well for the fact he is a warmonger which is something I disapprove of, but by the end of the book I kind of liked him. Still not sure if I would've liked him as a person though >_>
It's like I like Vivienne, as a character, she was written well after all, but I wouldn't get along with her for the life of me, she's a.. well, a b*tch.
Also, the game did Briala injustice, she's so cute in the book >3<
I really liked book!Gaspard compared to game!Gaspard. Yes, there are awful qualities to him (racist and a warmonger) but I dunno, by the end of TME I just really like him as a character.
Briala rubbed me off the wrong way in the game. She was better in TME but I can't say she's my favorite character. (That goes to Felassan aka Best Elf)
And Celene, i just can't stand. I thought I was going to like her after reading TME but instead it did the opposite and made me hate her. Still, my Lavellan let her live but let her rule alone. (She didn't trust Briala and wasn't too sure about Gaspard either.)
