I can only come up with DAI-related songs, but here are a few:

For the Game - Stand My Ground by Within Temptation, Into the Darkness by The Phantoms (which part of DAI OST)

For my canon Lavellan - Bitch Better Have My Money by Rihanna, Gangsta by Kat Dahlia

For Solavellan - Seven Devils by Florence + The Machine (which Avejajed posted already), Je T'aime by Lara Fabian (which I've posted before)

For Solas - The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel

Never forget.

And it was worth every agonizing, terrible, hellspiraling, sad second.

^This.

If any fictional character ever influenced me and changed a bit of me IRL, it is Solas. Also, Edward Elric from FMA.

Besides, if it wasn't for the soul-crushing agony, I wouldn't have stumbled upon this thread  <3  Totally worth it.

WHY AM I CRYING

Good, I'm not alone. I went to get the clip and was like...oh here I go.

Only slightly relevant: I can't accept the fact Celene is 37 (as far as I can recall she was born at 9:04), she looks like she's 60 :(

Same can be said for divine Justinia V, the books talk about how she is relatively young (compared to the previous divine) but the game makes her look like she's 80-90, SO MANY WRINKLES I CAN'T EVEN.

I remembered Celene being a possible marriage prospect for Cailan, so I knew she couldn't be that old, but the in-game design for her really did look older than she should. I didn't read the book until after I played the game but the mission itself made me buy it to learn more.

And now we know why Weekes was the first person after David Gaider to write a DA novel.

Six days.

Okay if I try to think about Weird Al for songs...

DAO: Party In The CIA

Spoiler

Just Grey Wardens as the CIA

DAI: Foil

Spoiler

Because this game keeps making me put on my tinfoil hat.

These are so accurate! Also I really love both songs!

I can imagine Solas as the lead in the aluminum foil commercial and it cracks me up :D

Regarding Weekes & Gaider, I've read both Asunder & TME after the second playthrough and I personally like TME empire more, both because of the writing style and the content. I'm still pretty excited that Weekes became lead writer, even though I love Gaider and what he's done.

Hey guys, since I've been thinking way too much about the DLc (aren't we all?) I've been wondering what kind of choices we will be offered about the anchor if truly it is killing our quizzie. I believe Solas will be instrumental, so here's what I came up with  :

For a quizzie Solas hate :

Only one choice. Solas takes the anchor back, possibly by force, with the knowledge that it might kill the quizzie or otherwise hurt them. Quizzie becomes powerless, but lives. Solas leaves.

for a quizzie Solas is friendly with :

Two options. Either Solas takes the anchor away with the quizzie's approval. Chances are they'll die, but if they survive they'll be safe from the anchor's effect and can live their life as a normal person. Solas leaves

Second option, Solas does something to calm the anchor, at least for a time (A few years maybe? He's more powerful than when he tried to help the quizzie the first time, but the anchor has also grown in power). The quizzie will end up consumed by the anchor once this runs out, but in the mean time they can continue their role as Inquisitor with the power of the anchor and hopefully do as much good as they can with the time they have left. Solas leaves

For a Lavellan in a relationship with Solas :

The two first options are the same as for a friendly quizzie, but now comes a third option. Leave with solas, with the understanding that you will need him to keep the anchor under control and probably will have to stay in the Fade/Crossroad like pocket dimension if you want to survive. You can't see your companions again and you disappear form history, leaving historian to distort your legacy the way they did with Ameridan :P

What do you guys think? What's your predictions?

I don't believe Solas will play any significant role in this DLC - in fact, the devs said it themselves. He's not instrumental to the story of Trespasser - he'll simply be making an appearance, which is basically their way of saying that he'll make an extended cameo.

Therefore whatever info or any other aid (or trap or obstruction or whatever) he'll offer, it will become more relevant to the story in DA4, or maybe 5 or 6. Right now, we'll be lucky if he reveals something juicy and doesn't just brush off Inquisitor (befriended, romanced or not). We'll likely have a selection of responses and answers, maybe even something a tiny bit more special for romanced Lavellan, but we already know that we're not going to walk away from this meeting/DLC 'completely satisfied', but 'intrigued'... which I read as "huh, you thought waiting for answers in DLC was hard? Here, have some.... BUT NOW YOU HAVE TO WAIT YEARS FOR ANSWERS TO EVEN MORE BURNING QUESTIONS! AHAHAHAHA  "

Alright I've got a question to contribute: if the end doesn't go the way you want, would you rather have never experienced the romance to begin with? Alternatively, would you want Cole to make you forget?

Personally I'd still rather remember even though it hurts like <colourful description> :?.

I think all of us, deep down, are expecting a tragedy despite how we furtively hope (Team Optimism! Woo!) otherwise. So far we've have tweets saying that we might not be satisfied but we will be "utterly intrigued"*, but we've all got different definitions of what's satisfactory for us.

Whatever ends up happening, Solas has intrigued me in a way that I haven't had about a fictional character since Garrus in ME, and before then it was couple of anime released back in the 90's. I think BioWare has done an excellent job, and I'm glad I've experienced it.

* Btw am I the only one thinking that was a silly thing to say in a tweet?

Hahaha, I quite realize that I'm probably clutching at my team optimism flag a little too tightly, but I didn't think that having Solas help only for the anchor was having him do too much for the plot. I doubt he has much, if anything, to do with the Qunari invasion to say the truth. I just can't link the two, in spite of the Eluvians. I actually thought those were Brialla's eluvian network on watching the trailer (seeing as the Inquisition is at the Winter Palace and all).

Hahaha, yup. Once we were spirits of hope, full of the prospect of having our hearts mended, our love returned. Then the corrupting influence of Weekes despoiled our nature and turned us to nothing but despair; wailing into the darkness, soaking the ground with our tears.

Nah, it'll still stay my canon romance for DAI I think. My Warden's romance (Amell/Alistair) didn't exactly work out either, and even though I know I could have gone back and romanced someone else, it just makes more sense for my world state to make him king and remain an ex lover for my Warden...who is unattached and off somewhere researching the cure I guess. It was annoying at the time but I got over it. Now I'm glad I didn't have to choose between him and Hawke.

Of course I know it's unlikely but I would prefer Lavellan/Solas ending up together somehow, even just hinted at a possible future. It doesn't have to actually happen on screen or explain everything. But if it doesn't...I don't see myself changing to another canon IQ and LI for my worldstate. That's just how things went down for my poor Lavellan then. I probably won't want to replay for a while though if it is too much of a downer.

I'm not really sure what to make of "not completely satisified but utterly intrigued" to be honest. Although "utterly intrigued" doesn't exactly jive with "totally tragic and heart stomped on the ground" so maybe there will be some kind of Morrigan like compromise. I dunno.

I must say that the wording is sort of suspicious, "you may not walk away completely satisfied, but you should walk away utterly intrigued".

You may not walk away completely satisfied.

Sounds like it depends on player perspective or in-game choices, "may" and "completely", perhaps somewhat satisfied?

I'm okay without somewhat, I'm scared of the "unsatisfied".

My favorite application of censorship is on the GW2 forum, where inappropriate words are replaced with kitten. It's hilarious. Especially the first few times you visit and don't realize that's what's going on, so you start to wonder if there's some wierd feline-themed subculture making themselves known.

Imagine if all naughty words were replaced with nug here. Haha. It'd be fantastic. Maybe I'm just easily amused.

"When I see Solas, I'm gonna nug that nugging nugsucker right into the ground."

Haha well that was easy.

I think for me, for Origins, it has to be "This is War" because of obvious reasons. Dragon Age II is a Florence song, but not "I'm calling you a liar" but instead "Seven Devils", which I think is PERFECT for the mage rebellion and Anders.

Exact same songs for me.  DA:I...I'm reserving judgment on DA:I since we don't know what note it ends on yet with Trespasser (hehe, note) but my go-to Solavellan song is the Anthem Lights cover of Demons.

Hahaha you're like me.
I pretty much listen to Weird Al, Flight of the Conchords and video game music.
I just struggled finding songs from animes I've watched and SOAD which is pretty much the only band I listen to (and like, once a year maybe XD).

Okay if I try to think about Weird Al for songs...

DAO: Party In The CIA
DA2: Dare To Be Stupid
As well as Smells Like Nirvana
DAI: Foil

I also want to sing this to Sera:

Hahaha. Excellent! Oooh. Now I also wanna find some Weird songs for Dragon Age. Challenge Accepted.
Disclaimer: Typical Weird Al humor to follow.

Dragon Age (in general): Close, But No Cigar One has to find the perfect romance option, after all.
DA:O Virus Alert For the Wardens trying to get everyone's attention about the blight. Old gods telling knock knock jokes while you're trying to sleep is very problematic.
DA:2 Why Does this Always Happen to Me. Because I'm sure Hawke really wanted to see that Simpson's episode, but no. Darkspawn. And then, Kirkwall. And Orlesians.
DA:I You Don't Love Me Anymore For poor Lavellan. Who got left in the woods. All alone. With a huge steaming pile of wyvern crap nearby. This will be especially relevant if Solas goes evil ragemonser ancient elf on us. But he better not.

Bonus! DA:I - Trespasser: Confessions, Part 3 "I suspect you have questions."

Also, I will have Word Crimes bouncing around in my head all day now.

I have something to get us through the next hour or so, anyway. Three songs. What song is your ultimate Dragon age Origins song? What song really encompasses what the game makes you feel? What about 2? inquisition?

I have so many playlists it's not even funny, but here are a few favorites:

You Go On Ahead by Sunset Rubdown, is a great song for my Inquisitor, or basically any reluctant leader of a group.

Lyrics:

Spoiler

Monument by Royksopp & Robyn, is also good but a lot slower and more meditative:

Lyrics:

Spoiler

And then there's Solas. I'm kind of liking Sun In Your Eyes by Grizzly Bear, for him atm.

Lyrics:

Spoiler

And as for the Solavellan romance, uhhhh so many songs but this one is a longtime fave - Ten Bridges by Laura Veirs:

Lyrics:

I kind of resigned myself to the great potential for further heartbreak, even while optimistic for something happier. I've said it before, but I just hope for some ultimate peace for Solas. This character made the biggest impact on me since Liara in ME for different reasons but I'll continue to have a special place for both regardless of how this ends. The emotional impact and resonance were things I was very much going both 'why?' but also 'wow, such amazing team effort to create something and someone that made me feel like that'.

I've mentioned and joked a lot about how deeply I feel things so when something leaves me with dual sadness and 'thank you', it's special.

I don't know. I do think Weekes is conscience of the need for closure, if what I heard about him being responsible for getting the goodbye scenes included at the end of ME3 with the non crew members (Miranda, Jack, Grunt) is true. And we know writing the Solas romance in the first place was his idea. But then again it sounds like they have bigger plans for Solas to have cameos in future games (like Flemeth maybe), and they obviously want to use him as a teaser (hence the stinger scene at the end of DAI). But they kinda did that also with Morrigan and that is a romance arc I would probably describe as "not completely satisfying but intriguing."
