Ugh, I'm just really conflicted because the last time I got properly torn up over a game was ME3. I mean it, seriously, I still feel gripped by abject loss when I think of my Shep and Garrus. They needed to be together. THEY NEEDED TO BE TOGETHER!!!! After everything that they both went through...if there had been a *choose yellow to destroy the whole universe except for the Normandy crew and an empty tropical paradise* I'd have chosen it. Cause screw the ME galaxy. It was full of unappreciative assholes. If the last scene was my Shep, Garrus and the crew sipping cocktails on the beach with the caption "Everyone else dies horribly", I'd be okay with that. Instead, I still get a little ball of despair in my gut when I think ME3. 

 

Oh god DA:I, please don't be the new ME3. Please. That's just too cruel. *sobs*

 

[EDIT: ^ Hah! Posted at the same time. Mind reading or such. Good to see another person hit by the ME3 Garrus feels]

I have to say... it would be pretty HILARIOUS if it turned out that instead of providing Lavellans who romanced Solas some sort of 'happy ending', the devs would be... well... devious enough to instead end EVERY romance with some sort a tragic ending

 

 

Cullen succumbs to the lyrium addiction. Cassandra is assassinated if she is Divine, or dies saving you if not. Bull turns on you if you allied with the qunari, or dies saving you if you saved the Chargers. Dorian is force-turned into an abomination and you have to kill him. Sera just straight up leaves you because the magic of your hand has gotten too creepy. Josephine breaks it off because her family really needs her to marry the nobleman. Blackwall dies from the taint if he became a Warden, dies to an assassin from whatever noble house he helped to slaughter otherwise.

 

It could happen.

I'm kind of like the feelsy mother hen who takes care of everyone and wants everyone to be okay. Also hugs.

....not that didn't have a feeling that it might be like it for a while now!

 

(... Though it still would be debatable whether all Quizzies would share equal levels of sads, considering that they can spend 2 years with their LIs ;P)

 

Or... Every romance EXCEPT Solavellan has a tragic ending. 

 

Anyone who felt smug about their no-drama Cullen or Bull canon run or made fun of Solasmancers and their hellspirals: Who's hellspiraling now?

Out of likes, but here is my short meta plug for Team (Cautious) Optimism:

Friendship matters in BioWare's games. Love matters. That doesn't necessarily mean that everything will turn out peachy for everyone, but more often than not, the games reward standing together with your bros against whatever comes your way. In fact, I'm hard-pressed to think of a single BioWare game that doesn't hammer home The Power of Friendship.

That's what I really like about Citadel DLC. It shows the importance of Shepard's crew in making Shepard Shepard. Without his/her friends and crew, he/she/we are nothing and powerless.

I was happy with my Shepard's sacrifice, she's a determined little paragon who sees herself as a mother figure for everyone, and it fit perfectly.... except for the fact that she left Garrus behind. He deserves better.

*sobs* Alright, just friggin stop it you guys. Ugh, now I have to go watch the Garrus compilation vids on Youtube. Sometimes I wish I'd never found Bioware games. Then I'd just be so much more engaged with the drama in my real life relationships. Instead I'm just like "Meh, he's okay but he's no Garrus."

 

Do you think I have a good case to sue Bioware for emotional distress and un-realistic life partner expectations?

I haven't posted in awhile, but I'm always here. Have to say I'm nervous about trespasser. but I'm glad I have you guys to get through it together if there's no happy option.

I'm okay with tragedy as long as my Lavellan dies in Solas' arms and it's all melodramatic angst times and he's all broken over it. dying alone and him not being there... Or just a subtle reaction. That would suck.

BTW, new Donut Rebel chapter is up. It initially lifted my spirits and then...well. Ugh. Okay, I need some suggestions for the best Solas and/or Garrus fanfic fluff out there. I mean happy like unicorns puking candy and farting glitter on rainbow made of skittles happy. Stat!
