I just did. I'm not sure it's gonna help us all. I'm not very good at social interactions in PMs with people I kinda know but not really. But maybe my sweet writing style will make her curious. Or maybe I'm too straightforward.

Hah. I never cared for Tamlen, though I did do the quasi-romance with him in my Dalish playthrough. Given a choice my Mahariel would have been weeping for Fenarel. I liked him much better.

Garrus is definitely my main bioware romance. He might not have been as nuanced a character as Solas, but he hits all the notes I love. He seemed like such a good guy, both as a friend and as a partner. They're just...together. It is hard to imagine one without the other. Not in a creepy way either. I mean...aw man, I made it weird.

 

The other two romances I like a lot are Solas [obviously], and Morrigan. Morrigan's is interesting for me, since I predominantly play female characters. It took me a while to get a male character in origins, and I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the romance. And then all the additional background in Inquisition just broke my heart. Morrigan's grown so much. 

 

I can't say I'm really committed to anyone in DAII. They were ok. Maybe someday I'll give it another playthrough with Fenris or Merrill. 

 

I love Garrus, but he's a little too flirty with everyone for me sometimes XD

 

Really though, Shep can't get jealous with how much she was drooling over Anoleis...

I have to admit, if I could have romanced anyone in DA:O, it would have been Duncan. He ticked all of my boxes (older man, serious with a side of snark, voice of the gods). I thought Blackwall was going to be Duncan 2.0 but he just...wasn't. And by the time I realised on my first playthrough that the romance I had envisioned going for (Blackwall) was doing nothing for me, but that the few flirts I'd had with Solas had really heated my blood, I was locked into the Blackwall romance with no escape (well, until THAT scene later), I then had to immediately roll another elf for a Solas playthrough.

Ha, well, my one and only completed Shepard was a lesbian so Kaidan wasn't exactly an option. I accidentally got ninjed by Kaidan into love triangle dialogue because I was nice to him.

 

I had to kill Kaiden on Virmire because I accidentally romanced him trying to be nice and that was NOT happening.

Question ladies: after turning in my creature research items the runner said "Here is the request Solas made." No war table mission has been given even though she's telling me there is one.

I've never had this happen in any of my playthroughs. (From him, I mean) Is this a known bug?

I swear some days it feels like I'm the only one who romanced Kaidan. At least there's a reasonable number that romanced Fenris so I don't feel all alone in the didn't-do-Anders corner.

Josephine has had banter occasionally with one of her helpers about a request Solas has made, some hunch he has, or an invitation to meet with some scholars (which he allegedly declined). It never triggered a mission, it's just there for athmosphere.

Same here too.  Garrus was to my Shep what Varric is to Hawke.  Best buds forever.  I always connected more with Kaidan.  I don't underestand the hate or the allegations of whininess tbh.

The way f!Shepard talks to Jacob was the worst though. Voice director there did not account for Shepards not into Jacob and/or men in general. Then again, ME2 was also the game where there were basically no romances for queer ladies anyway unless you were already in with Liara or didn't want the achievement and went for Kelly.

 

Given all of that, I am definitely glad the way the teams learned from these things for both ME3 and DA series when it came to romances. Some people may complain about the gating in DAI but it was realistic enough for people to have preferences.

I misread that as 'I will never love Briala' and was ready to leap on that statement with several thousand words of rebuttal D:

 

Inquisition:

A Rose for Epona, by Eluveitie - from their album Helvetios, which tells the story of the Helvetians, a Celic tribe that lived in Gaul. They spoke a now-extinct language and the region they inhabited now spans several modern nations. During the Gallic wars, Caesar waged a series of military campaigns against Gallic tribes. A Rose for Epona is from the middle of the storyline, so the war has broken out. The Helvetians decided to leave their homeland and migrate to the west coast of Gallia, to start a new life there. In the song, a young Gaulish woman was part of the migration, but after the battle of Bibracte, all hopes that she and her people would ever reach their new home were torn to pieces. Likely, she probably had lost her husband on the battlefields of Bibracte and had to face fact that she can be glad if their common newborn child would not be killed and she herself would be sold into Roman slavery. So, her situation is desperate, and in her despair she turns to her goddess Epona. She feels that Epona has forsaken her people, and accuses her of such.

 

The fall of the ancient elves - of Arlathan then the Dales - Dalish tribes, the dead elven language, the vanishment of the Creators.. The Long Walk, the Exalted March against the Dales, slavery and subjugation of elves.. yeah. + Celtic undertones in Dalish culture. For me Inquisition is the story of an elf who is fiercely proudly Dalish, who tries as best she can to remember the old ways, who staunchly worships the Creators, who resents humans and the Chantry.. mourns what was lost, carries a lot of hate over what she perceives as historical injustices. Through it she angrily asserts that she doesn't believe in the Maker, follows elven gods (thinks the events at the Conclave were a coincidence/accident/maybe a spirit's doing, BUT if she was chosen by any divine entity it must have been Mythal the Protector, not Andraste or the Maker), defends her people to Solas and Sera and others.. and being apart from her clan and walking in the human world, she sees first-hand the lot of modern City Elves, and comes to resent this too. Her worldviews are constantly tested and challenged, she learns that a lot of what they knew was wrong.. Faith lost and shattered. So imagine how she feels when she meets Mythal, who wasn't locked away all this time, who for whatever reason seems (to her) to have turned away from the elves even though she still walks the earth.. How many elves cried out for their goddess as they died at the hands of humans? She wasn't unable to hear them, she ignored them (in the Inquisitor's opinion). It's not hard to see Mythal in this song's Epona.

 

And lyrics like "the sky is falling in on me" - I mean, c'mon the Breach

also can I say,

 

we had the deepest, most beautifully cinematic-animated, most plot-tied/lore-impactful romance to date or at least in terms of Inquisition (imo), with one of the most well-written and well-voiced characters, most complex and nuanced character. we've all ridden quite an emotional rollercoaster since the days of Bald Elfy McSmuggins, we did it together and looking back on the last 1.5 years+ it's been a hell of a ride with you all that was made all the more amazing for me by you guyses' presence. I've had a great time with the Solas thread and community, made new friends, made connections with lots of new and creative talented people from all over the world. even during the times when I was busy with work yall were never far from my thoughts. whatever happens story-wise in a few days time, it's been beautiful and a lot of fun, I feel like I shared something really special with you all and I thank you for that

 

the solas romance.. it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, but it was ours

 

Whatever happens next:

I'm the most attached to my Warden, and my favorite ending was actually the one where she died XD I wouldn't mind if the Inquisitor followed suite, it makes for a bittersweet story. I'd prefer it to any of my favorite companions dying, anyways... (which would explain why both Hawke and my Warden died for Alistair. I swear, if he tries to off one more of my characters, he's on his own. This whole 'being saved from a fatal incident by killing my PC' thing is becoming a habit for him. And me)...

 

Seriously though, so many people would be upset if they killed off the Inquisitor. I can't see them not making it a choice at least.
