I like keeping my vallaslin as well. "Stop. You're perfect just as you are." -dies-

Though I did keep it only because it fit my character most, my canon warrior drank from the well and kept the vallaslin knowing it was slave markings because she would be damned if the "shems" forgot what they did to her people when she told the world about the meaning (because she has this whole plan of elven uprising in her head).

 

The tattoos were done by other elves before the fall. Not by the humans keeping them as slaves. The elves had forgotten that by the time the Dales fell.

Welcome to the club! We are in the minority, I think. Mine will keep hers, too, I just have to finish the game first. (Ugh, terrible cloud save file sync function erased msot of my saves a couple of months ago.) I think I can get the sketch done tomorrow. I cannot send you a PM, though, because I cannot view your profile. I'd like to send you a simple sketch first, so that I can change around a few things later, if you have more suggestions.

You can't? Is there a setting I have to turn on or something?

I'm on my way to lab, but will check the settings when I get there.

I used to spend time in the Yahoo chatrooms but RP for me was mostly in the old Groups. And then Messenger was where I first voice chatted with people...the very first people I met on the internet and then later IRL. Bringing it back far.

 

I had a donut today, and since it was pumpkin and also colored orange I could imagine Doughnut Rebel. Thanks Solas.

 

I really need to go to the supermarket but I'm working on the ending to my fic. I'm sure I'll still not be pleased with it afterward but the ending needs work before anything else.

Of course, that's why I offered it! I'm...decent, at drawing. (Getting better steadily.) I use a program called DesginDoll (which has a wonderful free trial version, btw!) that lets me pose figures. I usually make my own references that way, as it is great for learning perspective and anatomy. I just need a picture or two and a small description on how it should look like.

I decided to get off my ass and draw something of my first Solas-romanced Lavellan, Lilrani. A mage, obviously. She was, if remember, the second Inquisitor I played after my Qunquisitor. I might get around to drawing my second one, Nanaya the archer. 

Oh, before her vallaslin was removed, she wore the more detailed Mythal variant. But at the time, I didn't even know it was a Mythal tattoo XD Even after I had her drink from the Well.

On facebook there's sort of a reunion group for people that rp'd in a certain area of Yahoo chat, we called it Tenaria, but there was also Mance (romance), Ayenee, and Jacmus. I think they maybe were in games. In any case there's lots of people in the group and they reminisce all the time. It's fun.

Confession time. I'm about to start my first run through DA:I, though I have been waiting to play for the better part of the year. I've been spoiled a bit on the plot, (hazard of being on tumblr of course), so I know what's coming and yet I'm going to traipse right into the terrible maw of heartache that is Solamancing. I also spent way too much time just playing in the character customization, haha. May I introduce Tephra Lavellan:

Though the red tones I used around her eyes and for her blush were a bit more subtle in the customization screen, I think it looks more striking in-game. I already feel super protective of her and yet, alas Solas.

I love seeing stoic people become unraveled. They are usually the most passionate.

Couldn't agree more. What I wouldn't do to have Solas aggressively want Lavellan rather than "oh noes, we musn't" and Lavellan has to stalk him to get attention.  I love the Solas romance, but my Lavellan would never chase after anyone. She'd rather be chased.

 

That's the big difference in the romance for me in Inquisition, not enough flirting of the game characters to my characters.  I had to chase romance in this game and I'd rather my toons were chased.

It could happen.. '' my own hand wants to kill me '' I was excited about this because someone else wrote a fanfic about this with Solas hahah. I just love the part on DLC where she says : '' could ONE THING in this ****** WORLD JUST STAY FIXED!!!!!! '' That was just perfectly put. 

 

You might be referring to my fic.  Or you might not.  There are probably others.  I was pretty surprised by that particular parallel though.

 

Hey guys, so I'm currently looking to hunt down all the spare dragons I've yet to kill (anyone got a list?), and I spotted this.

This is in the the Fens, in the Exalted Plains, close to where the dragon is. The two wolves surrounding a mirror-like outline - which we saw in the trailer - make me wonder whether an eluvian was originally there, and whether it's been moved somewhere nearby or elsewhere. I know there's an elven ruin not far away (where there's a damn puzzle I still haven't completed), which would explain why the eluvian could have been there. Interestingly, one of the wolves is darker than the other, making me wonder whether they were made out of different material and whether that has any symbolism, or whether instead that's just decay.

 

Another point - I wonder if the eluvian transport network had any symbolic connection with Fen'Harel. There's a landmark point by the eluvian which when you claim it quotes a small bit of Genitivi where he talks about the Dalish's relationship with Fen'Harel. I know wolf iconography is common in elven lore, and doesn't necessarily reference our favourite ancient elven god, especially since the eluvians pre-date the Dalish, but I think given the choice of text, I think it's quite possible that he may have a connection there. Fen'Harel, to the Dalish, is known for walking between the pantheon and the Forgotten Ones... perhaps that walking is more literal than we thought.

 

 

 

I read it as Ying and Yiang thing - those who cross may have to reach some sort of point of balance or something. It's also significant that the altar appears to be on the other side of some sort of hot spring and there's a bridge leading to it.

 

Makes me think of one thing - the Hierophant tarot card.

 

Regarding the darkened statue:  If you look closely at it, it looks burnt, like some kind of energy corroded it and it's all grungy.  I don't think I remember seeing any other Fen'harel statues that look darkened like that one.

 

The idea about an eluvian having once been there, though... that could certainly be the case.  Looks like one would fit there.

 

Thoughts on DLC-related things:

Felassan was murdered by someone who desperately wanted access to eluvians.

Trespasser is filled with eluvians.

Could it be that whoever wanted the eluvians, finally got them, and that's what we're seeing the results of?

Could Solas have accidentally enabled this access to happen?

Welcome to the Solas threaaaad We have blanket forts and frilly cakes and beautiful, beautiful art and lore discussions galore, all sorts of things which will help with the (inevitable) heartbreak. You've come at an interesting time, there's a DLC about to be dropped in a week's time which is set a couple years after the events of Inquisition - hopefully you'll be able to play it with us.

 

Your Lavellen is really cute, I like her. I don't blame you for playing around so long in the CC - I make new characters now and then just to try and play with it, it's half the fun of a good RPG. I'm going to hazard a guess that she's a mage?

The novels are never required reading, though.  They are supplemental and provide extra lore and information that we might not have if we didn't read.  You could still play and fully enjoy any of the games without reading any of the novels--in fact, it was only in the past year or so that I read the novels.  I played DA:O and DA2 both without having read them.
