Is that from WoT? Is the other implied pass Sulcher's Pass?

 

I don't know how Solas managed to head west if all that's there are mountains. Unless they reported that he was generally heading west, after he crossed over. I'm over-complicating this. As usual .

he'd be able to pass through gherlen's pass, which is a passage safe for year-round travel. and depending on the time of year he leaves us at there may have even been more passages open (which is implied by 'only pass safe for blahblah'). once he passes west through the mountains, there's Orlais. the other implied pass or passes aren't mentioned by name in that bit of WoT iirc or on that page of the Wiki afaik, but given that Sulcher's pass is indeed listed as a way of travelling through to Orlais, it likely is one of them. it even fits the 'not year-round safe' description as it is considered quicker but more dangerous than gherlen's pass.

the yellow cross is where the label for gherlen's pass sits on another version of the map. you can see here its place relation to skyhold. the yellow line traces what I presume is the road and pass through from where it begins near lake calenhad. maybe there's a way to join the pass from skyhold (must be some method, we travel from skyhold to orlais routinely as inquisitor)- once joining it he'd just head west. given the geography his route may have been north-west or east some til there was a way and then back west but like it's not dramatic and OOOO inspiring if leliana goes 'we last saw him heading north-north-west!!!' </boring over analysis> or maybe be just parkours up and skis down

No Skyhold, huh? So it really was useless after all the overtures of it being a special ancient place???  So was it a red herring? 

 

Possibly, though I'm leaning more towards "no Skyhold, because by the end of this DLC Skyhold is a charred, burning pit in the ground".
