I don't think she's got any extra information the rest of us don't have.

You don't have to have extra knowledge, it's just a common trope...and she's spot on in that regard, that's why it's funny.

Anyway I'm hoping that since they've gone into new territory by making an actual epilogue, some of the choices can be a little more meaningful and final than the vague stuff we usually get concerning our PC. Understandably they want to leave the mystery for future games. But I think we were all expecting that already.

There, finished Descent, and it was nice! Not as great as JoH, that's for sure, but definitely a nice way to go back into the Dragon Age universe while waiting for Trespassers. Plus Valta is super cute. I wonder if we'll ever see her again now...

I can't believe not more people are freaking out over lady insanity's solas tumblr post ... she knows more than any of us do and so her guesses are much more educated than our's. If she's even partially right, the DLC is going to be very depressing.

Could it be because we've gone through 5 days of continuous freaking out? :) I know that I have very little freaking out left in me by now...

I agree that if she's right, it's going to be very, very depressing. I just can't see how an ending like she described could possibly be "intriguing", so I'm hoping that Bioware has something a little better to offer us.

I didn't take the 'intriguing' bit to be romance specific though. Only that we would be intrigued by him and his possibly hinted plans.

Though even that intrigue would be mostly squashed by despair for me if that scenario plays out.

I can totally believe LadyInsanity's theory or something like it happen.  I'm totally expecting this too, which is lame.  Give us hope and then throw us down a cliff.  Just reading it makes my stomach turn and my eyes well up.

The egg-love has also spread to places people hate, like Israel..

I'm pretty scared of saying where I am from because I don't want people to base their opinions of me on that :(

To my defense I'll say I belong to the left wing.

-ahem-

I'm from Florida. And I don't hate Israel. lol

(And I'm a conservative Republican ("right wing", in other words, I suppose), but I'm not sure why you mentioned your politics??? O.o)

But yeah, Solas love in the Sunshine State.

I like the theory itself just fine, but it doesn't make sense from a design standpoint:

- the Inquisitor frowning without input
- the Inquisitor letting Solas kiss their forehead, without input (Dude stole their mage gear two years ago, lied to them, is suspicious in general - there needs to be a bunch of choices here to not freak out a good chunk of people.)
- the Inquisitor stands dazed without doing ANYTHING - Inky got a mark that wants to kill them, has to deal with a Qunari invasion and Ferelden and Orlais hate them. THEN they meet Solas, who goes all #justwolfiethings on them and they just let him leave?

Edit: Also, it would simply repeat what Solas did two years ago: He simply runs away from his problems and vanishes because of his plans. That's...not at all what people would find intriguing, it would be a repetition of something we all don't want to see yet again. It COULD be done well, but it certainly wouldn't have me intriguid. I'd be quite bored, actually, because I EXPECT him to do the same thing again.

Yeah, I'm trying to keep in mind a lot players want to know what's up with his plans, or dislike him for his betrayal and want to be able to stop him or fight him, etc... So there is a lot of expectation outside of just romantic content.

She doesn't know that much more. *shrugs*

Also, her word choice was weird, though that's par for the course for Ashe. I appreciate her and I love listening to her, but my inner editor's eye twitches during her broadcasts sometimes. lol

In other news: OMG I'm actually caught up on the thread!

Just restarted my Ps4 and it popped up. Downloading away! With 3 hours remaining  oh fun times on rural internet.

Now I will be able to finish off my saves and start prepping my Inquisitors.

Anyone else making any changes to their Inquisitors appearances?

I was messing around in the BE last night, trying out some different styles because I want both my Lavellan's to have at least one scar in the time that's passed.

I tried Niamh out with different hairstyles and realised what a monstrosity of a creation she is. I love that dorky elf, but she can only rock the hair I gave her. Anything else and she looks horrifyingly alien. Especially without her vallaslin. I think I'll just give her a nice cheek scare and lighten her make up.

Tristan however, I have this idea going that in the 2 years he's been so overwhelmed that he hasn't bothered to cut his hair. So he might rock some one of the girly long hairs and an eye scar.

I might change their appearances pre-cory so I can see what it looks like in cut scenes before deciding to keep it. Hmmm.

As for not freaking out over LadyInsanity's post. I have it completely made in my mind that you will have a chat with Solas and then go your separate ways. For romances, a slightly longer chat maybe, but still just that. Are people really expecting anything more? If I'm wrong then that's always good, but I feel like they want to do a lot with his character going forward and they won't want to risk a lot of variables.

But yeah, I'm not expecting us to get thrown the same lifeline that Morrigan romancers were. A similar ending, just without the option to go with.

As I wrote before, I can't see this happening, they said we would have an extensive conversation with Solas and that we would walk out intrigued.

Yeah, it would probably end up tear jerking in some manner, but doing that scene is redoing the last romance scene pretty much, it doesn't suit DA's writers.

Also, while I really appreciate Lady Insanity's love of lore and how much she delves into things, let's not forget there are people like that in this thread as well, they just don't document their thoughts as good as she does. I personally read TME, Asunder, Wot 1 & 2 and did a lot of lore research, and I find other things plausible as well, such as the idea of Inqi leaving with Solas so they won't die, etc. (though I'm not as heavy on the lore as other people are, I'm not as good in these kind of things  ).

We don't really know, we can't, since this DLC is going to be lore-heavy and new concepts may be introduced.

It'll be okay!

I could think of a shared, last battle where he assists you, based on the fact that the area he and the Inquisitor are in looks like it could be well used for a fighting sequence. (A lot of open, flat terrain.) Also, I could see him explaining stuff about the Eluvians and he might lead the Inquisitor to a certain place, perhaps. That would be fun - a glimpse of the Black City, perhaps. Or a pocket dimension or something similar. Then, after a few minutes, he'd bugger off like we expect him too. I just feel like a small chat really wouldn't be enough to intrigue me.

I spent about an hour yesterday fiddling with my cannon Inky in Black Emporium. Tried different hair, tried making her skinnier (her job is hard, ok? lol), tried to making her older... the end result of this was one tiny scar across her eye *sigh* *2 year break fail*

lol...Sounds like Hawke in DA2 when Talis runs off with the list? I'll bet she's right at least in part, we probably won't be able to stop or kill Solas.

Yeah well, that's the thing - why would they go the extra-effort to put in the romance in the first place, if it's supposed to end so underwhelming? Part of reason why I'm so interested in romancing Solas is exactly me wondering how the heck are they going to do with it in the end, other than brushing it aside, even if for understandable reasons (lass specific variables in future games, etc)? Therefore I kinda hope that even IF they part ways, they wouldn't do it in a way that's so... predictable.

(months ago I've already argued that perhaps he should have just erased Lavellan's memory in vallaslin scene, if he either doesn't want her suffer or go after him, and be done with it - and if THIS is going to be the end, then there was no point prolonging the inevitable; the outcome is basically the same)

Hmmm, you might be right, though I had thought it was a comment aimed at Solasmancers. Let me try and dig around for it.

Spoiler

So... I don't know, it seems ambiguous. I thought they were talking about romances (isn't that what "bang" means? unless I'm not up to date with slang anymore - which is not uncommon for me), but you might be right.

In Israel right wing are sort of... Want to destroy/get rid of the Palestines, etc.

And most of the left wing want to retreat to our 67 borders, give the Palestines land, negotiate peace, etc.

It's less about economy here.

Didn't Weekes want the romance in so you could see Solas as a more rounded character? Otherwise everyone would just think him a villain. They certainly achieve that, but whether they need to keep it up is what I'm concerned about.

As someone who romanced Zev in Origins and Thane in ME - wouldn't be the first time I've been shafted in a romance.

O o o mememe

My first non-favorite Lavellan will have an added scar and an hairstyle change.

The second (currently in working) will have an added scar and have her current scar a bit less prominent since it healed a bit.

The Solavellan romance is probably one of the easiest to implement into future games, as long as the Inquisitor does not show up. (At least I think so.) You want to add comments for Cullen, The Iron Bull, Sera? Well, good luck finding a poor sod that knows exactly what happened to the Inquisitor and their Love Interest. This time we had Varric back, which made things easy. But aside from putting Harding into the next game, it could be quite tricky to mention the Inquisitor's lover, aside from a random NPC that just happens to have heard the latest news about Inky.

Solas, on the other hand, could be mentioned rather easily, depending on what he does in Trespasser or in the next game. Heard the new lore about the Dread Wolf's lover? Heck yeah, suddenly it's a song or poem or something similar. Or what about the Inquisitor that fell for a god? Heck, Solas himself could mention it, if he appears - which seems plausible, given the fact that he's so very important. The fact that Solas is so important limits the kind of things that can happen to Lavellan's romance, but it also makes them easier to implement, given the fact that his role is just as important as ever.

Put her in uthenera? Sure. Let Solas mention how he still regrets his lost love? Why not. Write a poem about the Dread Wolf who fell in love? No problem. Sing a song about the Herald of Andraste and her dreadful romance? No biggie. The thing is...all of those options are bittersweet at best. But then again, we don't expect anything else, do we?
