I'm torn between staying in the thread, getting Cadash through the game and going to sleep. I am not sleepy but I got lots to do tomorrow ><
Now that the patch is out, might be a good night to play through Doom Upon All the World one more time and generate my new endgame save.
We could resurrect the original spoiler group! Also worth a read if you want to see the drama of the first spoilers about who Solas was came out.

I think we should just take all spoilers at all, even hidden under spoiler tags, out of the forum and into pm.
I just made a bow with 128 dps on my level 4 archer lol
Thank you for making a seperate thread! I have a compulsion to click all the spoilers... probably from Sunny's art posts! XD

I don't think anybody said anything about him being be absolved of being at least partially responsible - still, question is whether the punishment would be proportional to the blame, since we don't really know just HOW responsible he is for Cory+Orb combo.
We do know that he blames himself for the Orb eventually falling into his hands, but we have no idea how it went, or what was the alternative.
We also do know that some actions, either noble or desperate (sometimes both) lead to unforeseen consequences not everyone can control - it was a large theme in Inquisition... and if I'm to make one prediction about Trespasser that I think is fairly accurate is that - aside from Inquisitor having to deal with consequences of his/her past decision - will be put in a position to do something that may have even more dire consequences for the world, largely mirroring the fate of Fen'Harel.
Will you feed your Inquisitor to the snake, if history will remember them as a villain as well? Even if you do know better?
I only ever mentioned a snake when someone was wondering if Solas' comeuppance would be a hug. Didn't expect it to be taken seriously.
Seriously though, he is/partly is responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of people. He shouldn't get to walk free because of that.
It is a type of cipher that lets you decode things. I think its inspired by something?

Me mentioning a snake was also tongue-in-cheek.
It doesn't however change my question. Will you not kill or otherwise severely punish your Inquisitor if he or she is more or less directly responsible for some sort of cataclysm? Even if, say, the alternative was worse? Or they didn't have enough information, but had to act ASAP???

Rot13 is fun and this post is only relevant to Solas because I mentioned his name just now.

Neither scenario matches Solas'.
Neither scenario matches Solas'.
And you know that how, considering that we don't yet have enough information to say that neither scenario matches what he did?
You also never answered my question about what would you do about Inquisitor. Why?

If I'm wrong and there is more to it, I'll be the first to apologize. But as of now there is nothing to suggest Solas was preventing something worse or some other altruistic motive. He says "The People need me", but that could mean any number of things, many of which bad.
I didn't answer because both your scenarios do not match Solas', as far as we know. So it is not an equivalent scenario.
Jus posting to push us closer to 4600.
SOOOOOOOLAAAAAAAAAS
You actually pushed us to 4600. Be proud.
This is the part where we have a dance party.

I do what I can for the People.
My 4-mage party looks incredible prouncing around the Western Approach. The damage they deal with the lyrium-infused staves is incredible too.

I think this depends very much about which side we are looking at. If you look at Solas, his people need him. He already made clear that neither Thedas nor the current elves are 'his people', so he's probably only trying to do what's good and right for his own people, those that he connects with. (Which I cannot judge him for, dude woke up only recently and truly doesn't see this world as anything more than a doomed future, kind of how the Inquisitor and Dorian saw the future that Alexius shaped.) I think one of Solas' biggest flaws is, yes, his pride and the inability to see that modern Thedas is worth saving all the same. He even comes close to throwing everything overboard for a romanced Lavellan. "She's real which means everyone could be real. it changes everything, but it can't." The fact is, even if Solas might have bad intentions for the player character and modern Thedas, he still cares. It's a major character flaw, but it makes him utterly interesting. Solas cares, which can't be because it very much interfers with his plans. A romanced Lavellan is just the icing on the cake that makes him really question his own intentions.

And many of which is good - as well as many that are hard to categorize. You simply assume that it has to be bad, instead of myriad of other possible options, neither of them as simple as saying "he's innocent" or something like it.

It being "equivalent scenario" doesn't matter. It is a pretty real possibility for Inquisitor, whether it matches what Solas did or not. There's a possibility you're going to have to answer it anyway - if not here, then maybe while playing the DLC, if you'd choose to play it. Or maybe in DA4, when Inquisitor's legacy may be distorted by time, lack of information or perhaps maybe even active propaganda. Or what they did would be exploited by someone else.
