There is a part of me that wants to point and go, "THIS IS HOW WE HAVE FELT" but that's petty. I think it's time to get past it all and embrace true equality. Plus Vivienne would be really interesting to see go down a romance path, from what we know of her. I think it'd be fascinating to see that side of both her and Solas. As it seems they are both people who aren't necessarily seen as romantic in the overall plot compared to people like Dorian and Cassandra.

Absolutely agree with the bolded part. I am hoping as well that Solas and Vivi will be our last two LIs and that they are both bisexual. Both for the sake of fairness and because I personally would find both their romance arcs fascinating. And I say this not even being sure if I'll like Vivienne at all - but the idea of seeing a 'softer' more emotional side to her is definitely appealing - like Morrigan's 'sister' remark in Origins - found it just as touching and sweet as any of the romantic content, and it made me wish I could romance her as a woman. (Though Carpool and a certain male qunari *cough*Bob*cough* would make me contemplate... things if Vivi is romanceable  ).

 

Although the idea of her being too busy for love or thinking herself above it intrigues me as well, from the standpoint that it's rare to see beautiful, confident female characters such as her presented that way.

 

On that note, I wouldn't be surprised if the two remaining LIs are Solas as bi, and Varric for female dwarves only. Personally, I'm not interested in Varric as a romance, even if I do like him and think his new character design is really attractive. I guess i just prefer the idea of getting to know and romance a brand new character, or one we know relatively little about, than a returning one. And there's also my hope that we'll get to meet Bianca and resolve things between them in the game.

 

My fear is... anything not involving Solas. Even though I know I'll love his character regardless, that would give me sads  .

WIP Solas fan art! I'm seriously out of practice with my drawing, and the paper texture was working against me so I'm bringing it into Photoshop to finish it. But here's what it looks like so far:

I obviously love Solas but I also LOVE that background, eee. B&W and swirls are some of my favorite types of visuals!

That's actually pretty close to how I feel about it, too. Part of me is resistant to the idea of Vivi as an LI because... well, the gender split isn't even close to even in the party composition, so why should it be in the romances?? And as much as I may disagree with her priorities, I really appreciate Vivienne as a character... I mean, how often do you get to see an ambitious, power hungry character that's also female? And I f****** hate that "defrosting the ice queen" trope and I also strongly dislike the idea of every single female being "available."

 

But on the other hand there's a part of me that recognizes that even if they are all LIs, some of them are unavailable to men ([snuggles up to Sera]) or are available to women as well. And you raise a good point about Vivienne having a lot of potential to be interesting... I jump to the conclusion of the trope because, well, that's how it usually goes... But I think I can afford to have more faith in the Dragon Age team than that. And it could end up being really neat. And as tempting as laughing and yelling "HOW DOES IT FEEL?" is, I agree with you about it not being very helpful in the long run, so...

 

Here's hoping for Solas to be one of the renaming two! I'll obviously still love his character if he's an LI or not, but I went into this hoping for him and Cass. The latter... obviously did not pan out. Luckily I have Sera so it's not like I'll have any Forever Alone runs, but... I'd really like to not be that disappointed more than once.

I don't know, I keep thinking that The Iron Bull wasn't meant to be a full romance, like just a one time thing and flirts. Then because of how much extra work Epler and the team was able to put in, he was ushered into being a full romance arc, going by all the tweets and dev comments about Iron Bull's romance. So, because he wasn't intended to be the whole shebang, the last two LIs, will hypothetically be the original other 2 male LIs.

But this is just a theory. ewe;;

Vivienne not being a romance means it's skewed to have more male LIs than female. Pretty damned sure they wouldn't go that route. Unless they want to give straight and bi women what straight men have been getting in BW games prior to DAO and ME1.

  Misunderstood your question sorry...The voice actor did say " You will not be disappointed." So Solas just might be an LI. 

 

 

I highly think it's going to be Solas and Viv to be the last 2 LI's cause they did say that the Varric and Bianca story isn't over with. Also I'd like to see Vivienne squirm when my male Inquisitor flirts with her lol

We still don't know. Not sure if you were around for the Q&A with his voice actor on twitter that suggested he was a romance, but that's the last we heard. Still waiting on official confirmation of the last 2 LIs. Though Gaider did confirm that the last 2 aren't necessarily the race-gated ones.

His VA made a few tweets about not being disappointed if you wanted to romance him, but nothing solid yet. Hoping Pax Prime will be where they announce the last too and hopefully show us that romance chart they had.

EDIT, Oops ninja'd xD and lucius-glitterius, I was mostly teasing cause we get forgotten a lot.... Unless someone is using it as a reason why bioware is terrible now. :| however! our options look way better this game than ever before with a hopeful 3 LI for gay men!

I don't even care if Vivienne is mean, I think I'm going to love her despite myself. Can't wait to hear her banter with everyone! I wonder how much Solas could take from Vivienne before he snaps at her. I also wonder if their relationship will grow into a mutual respect at any point. I really hope so, because I find it so grating when characters hate each other vehemently for the entire game!

Bob is a goof who likes all the ladies, so long as they are remotely nice to him at some point. But I'm actually not sure who I wish to romance with him. Cassandra... Josephine... Vivienne??? Hm... ... ... I was originally leaning towards Cassandra (since she's a straight option only) but I guess it's all about where the wind takes him.

Errgghhh... ... ...that's what I'm hesitant about, the 'defrosting the ice queen' trope, and that every new companion/advisor female is available. I really want her to stick by her guns too, have her be too busy for love or think herself above it as Fialka said, but that's my personal wish. I could see the last two be males IF two of the male LI's are race gated and all the female LI's are not. But still... hm... not sure what I really think about this...

Having been rewatching Torchwood with my friend, with GDL having spoilt Indira Varma, we'd already decided she'd be perfect for Vivi, but hearing her in action specifically for Vivi, I honestly can say I can't think of anyone else who could have done her voice more perfectly! Amazing.

Haha... I just love the idea of Viv falling for someone... uncouth. And perhaps a bit embarrassing. Partly as revenge for all her cruelty...*snicker*

In all seriousness, I'm definitely torn between hoping she's a bi LI because it could be interesting, and fair for straight men and lesbian women as well, and hoping she's not for the reason I stated as well as you and manabloom's. It would be... problematic, in my opinion, to make every female companion or advisor an LI, with the exception of the one who was in a previous game. Not all women are looking for love, after all, and if there's one woman who I could see having bigger fish to fry its Vivienne. And if she is a romance, I would definitely have concerns about how it got handled. There is a fine line between showing someone having a bit of vulnerability (something writers seem to do just fine when writing men in relationships) and, as you guys said, 'melting the ice queen.' As someone who has been called an ice queen and seen as a challenge because of it... the word 'yuck' sums it up nicely.
