Aaand to your left you can see the beginning of a wonderful romantic sweet soulcrushing romance.

Barely scanning this thread as I scroll through. So nervous of accidental spoilers. May have to go dark till after patch lands and I beat it. Don't wanna though. :S Doom.

The map conversation seems safe enough~

So put me on the night time desert team too. Hissing Wastes is my favorite map by far. Especially when crossing the sands on horseback. With only the sound of nocturnal wildlife to accompany you, it has a lonesome RDR joyride feel to it that makes me happy. Not to mention I love all things Ancient Egypt so the above ground ruins and valley tombs are like a silent siren cry to me. Excellent map.

My least favorite map is a tossup between the Hinterlands and the Forbidden Oasis. I've seen the Hinterlands way too many times. Familiarity breeds contempt or somethin'. Also, even though it has Redcliffe, I just can't feel any of the original there so the lack of expected nostalgea is always disappointing. As for the Forbidden Oasis, it just feels like a chore. So many stinkin shards. And those stupid hyenas of stupidness! Ugh. The area around the temple is lovely, however.

To make this all relevent somehow; When making my first final Tiger Festival save (before JoH), I initially left her at the camp by the lake and waterfall in the Forbidden Oasis, figuring it was as far west as one could get, so she could be symbolically looking for Solas. After the revelations from the backwards well talk ages ago, in which "Go to Him" and what sounded like "The Dirth" was heard, I decided to leave her in the Exalted Plains instead. She now stands party-less on the rocks overlooking the Dalish camp.

That's where she will be when the patch lands, following half understood whispers and hopeless dreams.

So I was running around Valammar earlier trying to find the last mosaic pieces I've ignored until now... and... did anyone else take note of the gold elf-type statues tucked in the vault?

Looks like golden Fen'Harel statues, some Flemeth-ish looking woman with wings, and the owl things we see all over the place. I thought it was interesting, especially since I hadn't seemed to notice them before. Clearly. Since I also didn't notice the mosaic piece.

Okay, they did something with lipsync/talking animation. The way characters talk seems a bit more refined.

What kind of surprised me was that you don't see the close-up of Solas' face in the Fade Haven scene anymore. At least for me it didn't show.

He still whispered "wake up", but without the close-up entirely. Weird.

Yeah, I don't just think cut-scenes animations are refined - I think they "unleashed" the game in many more, bigger or smaller ways, with this patch, now that they're not held back by old-gen.

Man, if we get to go anywhere in Arlathan, I'd be beyond myself with happiness, even if the mission is to just kill rats in the sewers.

Really? Are you on console or PC? I'll have to check it out in the morning...I hope not, that's one of my favorite scenes.

 

PC. I was weirded out at first so I reloaded and played the whole scene again - same thing happened. He just talks away like he does before the whispered "Wake up!". It really sucks, I love that scene.

Weird, I just checked it - I still got it as it was (I'm on PC). Maybe it was some sort of temporary flub on your machine?

I happen to like the Fallow Mire. It's the undead that I could do without. lol I'm not scared of the undead, they're just a pain in the butt and keep on coming if you go in the water.

I will always have a soft spot for the Fallow Mire after getting up at, what, 3 am to watch the demo in which it was shown at Gamescom. It was like a Solas thread pajama party. We got to hear him speak for the first time and everything.

 

And maybe it makes me the odd one out, but I kind of liked the Hissing Wastes. The Forbidden Oasis can go get stuffed, though.
