Well, I'll probably be checking the store every few minutes all Tuesday till it drops, so unless something happens to my Internet (Gawd, please NO) I'll be probably screaming "IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!!" excited.gif

You're making me excited as if it's Tuesday already, i'll probably just around the house and do nothing but stare at the TV screen while the PS downloads it.

I'll be in agony since the PSN doesn't update till 3 or 4 pm and then how ever long my slow internet takes to download it.

It's just a mouse in a wheel. Yay for small town life~ *groan* hopefully I'll get to it before midnight.

I am in your exact situation. :(

With the added benefit that we're low on Internet usage during the day, but the 2AM-8AM one is still strong! I guess I'll just have to stay up all night and set it up to download, and play it Wednesday?

They could have told me! I could have waited to download that Winter King mod! *shoves CKII mods at Madrar and runs away*

After Here Lies the Abyss is Solas meant to get a scene where he calls Inky out for recuiting the Wardens?  Or is that low approval only?  (I've seen it so many times on youtube I can't remember).  If it is meant to play then it didn't trigger for me.  Everyone elses post-Adamant converstation is triggering.

Ooooh.   @w@  I see I popped in at a good time.

I don't believe the "clash" you describe exists, to be honest.  One of the more interesting conceits of DA is the suggestion that the fanciful nature of magic is (at least in part) a matter of perspective and degree.   In game, mages draw upon the fade- potential in raw form- and give it shape on this side of the veil by enforcing their will upon it.  To put that another way, magic is the means by which a mage changes the world around her.

Now consider your own free will, your ability to choose.  Is the process really so different, conceptually, from magic?   Faced with raw potential, we direct our will toward the outcome we desire.  We choose- and by those choices, shape the world around us.  It's not as easy as magic, naturally- but it's not supposed to be.  To quote Cole, "this side of the veil is slow and heavy, but here is what can change."  Shaping Thedas is easy.  Change on this side of the veil is hard.  Wishing our reality were other than it is has no effect at all.  Our magic lies entirely in the choices we make, and the actions we take to see them realized.

Consider another example: veilfire runes, and their ability to evoke meaning directly in the mind of the viewer.   Again, what distinguishes them as 'magic' could be considered a matter of perspective and scope.

Tiny pink poodle wearing a zebra pimp hat.

…not a great example, but there you go.  By arranging lines and dots in a very specific pattern, I placed an image directly in your mind.  It's not Tevinter-style mind control, of course.  You recognize the thought as having an external source and are free to dismiss it at will.  Still, as you read, the thoughts of another person - possibly far removed from you in space or time- temporarily take residence in your mind.

To get back to the point, I don't consider magic to be a transformative element in the DA universe.  I think it's a pointed thematic marker, a fun-house mirror exaggeration of an aspect of our own reality.  Consequently, I don't believe its existence invalidates the connection between the "real world" and the game-as-fade.  Thedas remains a warped mirror of our own, a phantom, malleable realm in which the rules of our reality are bent, but never broken.

WHEEEE four more days!!!  (((@w@)))

I think you misinterpreted my meaning. I wasn't talking about magic itself in the DA universe. You'd have to read the previous posts. It actually proves my point about context, in fact so thank you.

But I agree as to what The Fade and magic in the world represents, and the parallels we can draw from our world. My point was to highlight our own perceptions and reasoning as being limited and duplicitous because of the very nature of Thedas and how it was created by Gaider. It becomes easy to draw a multitude of conclusions and parallels based on many different facets of real-world examples given it is fantasy grounded in reality. The fantastical aspect is an unknown however. No matter what you stipulate we still reason with a very limited perception of the world because we're on the outside looking in. For example what Gaider said about Elvhen genes:

It is unknown if such a lineage would eventually become more "elven" through selective breeding. This does seem unlikely, however, as David Gaider has noted that while certain elven characteristics may carry on to an elf-blooded child, "fully elven" traits will not.[6] The elven genome has been described as "adaptive" and elven reproduction in this regard has "much more to do with magic" than science or simple breeding

Magic is used to explain rather than rationalizing the effect through scientific methods. This is what I meant when I was talking about a *clash*. It was about what we assume given real world knowledge and what we're told or what is explained through fantastical elements.

Anyways I have to go, I always seem to bring myself back into discussions. Interesting! But time consuming :(

Oxy?

Ahem.

I HAVE HEARD IT SAID THAT SOLAIRE IS NOT IN FACT GYWN'S FIRST SON AND THAT ALL OF THAT THEORY-CRAFTING WAS FOR NAUGHT!

That should do it. :D

I'm not sure how to bring in Squish, that's more your field of expertise, and I don't have enough paprika to lure any Hungarians in.  <_<

If I mangle enough psychoanalytic theory, the high-pitched whir of Jung spinning in his grave should eventually draw Gwyv's attention.  =w=

SisterSquish, though... hmmm...

OH.

Solas' story was confirmed to continue in DA4.  We get a new player character, but the same "rare and marvelous spirit" will be driving her from beyond the Fade.

SQUISH, WHAT IF WEEKES GOES FULL META ON US?!?  @w@

As for sad ending.. I don't mind them.  IF the sad..er, serves a purpose and it's just another dash of tragedy on the angst pile.  Too much angst or tragedy and it tends to provoke more apathy than tears in me.

Just a reminder to keep your emotional reactions to spoilers hidden behind spoiler tags, like in the above quote. Thanks so much!

Shopping all day every day.

Same. Bought myself some pretty new succulents and flowers yesterday while I was banned. To deal with the fact that I got an unfair ban.

I lie, I use pretty much any kind of excuses, or even not at all, to buy cute plants.

It could be uthenera related issues. Or it could be they had a lice problem. :P

The ancient Egyptians often had their hair cut very short or even off to get rid of lice, allow them to wear whatever kind of fancy hats or wigs they wanted, and because goddammit it is hot in Egypt. Vivienne's hairstyle is also basically designed for optimum hat usage. I'm already picturing the Creators wearing their opulent hats, only for Geldauran to be banished for sneaking in dressed like Xanthous from Dark Souls:lol:

Why did I have to be chewing a dumpling when I read this?

Also no, no Solas hair mod. Looks so...cheap and un-Solas. I mean, whatever works for some people. At least it's not as irritating as or changes anyone's character like the 'straight' mods for Dorian and Sera.

Ha, he's very excitable. Wish he had a name. I'm going to call him Larry. Larry the Librarian.

I love the librarian, but he's so underused. :(

Apologies all :(

If it's any consolation, I drew that before knowing about the leaked thing, then got yelled at for blogging spoilers untagged so I got spoiled by my own dumb self

I got called out for posting a "non-spoiler" version of my potentially spoilery art when only like five people even liked it/saw...  but veryone is freaking out already.  We freak out over nothing.  Solas may leave, Solas may take you with him, etc.  Anything can happen until it's proven otherwise on Tuesday.  I don't know what you can get out of my art that you can't get out of every other sad piece of Solavellan art out there...

I treated myself today to some tea I've wanted for a while. It's a lavender earl grey blend. In fact, I think I'll go make a cup.

On a random note, I've got a quest to find about 48 Hard in Hightown books around Skyhold. Has anyone else gotten this quest before? What do i get at the end? Do i get to romance Varric cause I'd be on that like chesthair on...Varric.

Y'know funny thing just happened earlier. I just finished my male elf inquisitor's pt but before I went to get rid of Coryfish that elf librarian showed up...at the end of the game? I hadn't seen that elf since my first pt.

Also all this talk about chocolate and donuts is making me hungry.....can't wait to go out to eat with my Hubby..

I forgot who (I'm sorry if it was you person who reads this), but someone told me it would probably come around noon. I don't have any sources to confirm that, though, so this is just grapevine stuff here.

Wasn't me, but for Origin, I've tended to see it pop up around 1-2pm my time (Eastern). Usually consoles will have it first *sets earlier alarm clock for Origin*.

I (think) I'm using a face mod for Morrigan in Origins. But it's one that updates the graphics and makes her bone structure look more like it does in Inquisition, since that ones looks closer to the concept art with the ogre that first grabbed my attention. Generally speaking, I would only mod characters to enhance the look they've already got. If I had a PC, I wouldn't bother with those kinds of mods, since Inquisition is still, y'know, top-tier graphics. Now, as for modding in more Skyhold outfits...

But other people can mod however they like without so much as a snort or an eye-roll from me. It's all good. :) The whole point of modding is that we can adjust it to our own personal taste.

Except for the ones that change race, and to a lesser extent sexuality. That causes my eyes to roll out of my head.

You know what's weird? After the latest patch, Heir, the Assassin trainer (my trainer) showed up standing next to Cole. I haven't seen her since I completed my spec.

Huh...that is weird. She always showed up next to Cole in my pt's maybe it was a glitch or bug for some people and they fixed it?

All of the trainers just kinda wander and do their own thing, don't they?

Ser in particular seems to like to find secluded corners and stare mournfully at the mountains.
