Yes that is true they do wonder but it's really not that hard to find them lol.
EDIT: Also they do hang around our companions a lot. I'm not saying I'm right it might of been a bug maybe not.

All of the trainers just kinda wander and do their own thing, don't they?
Ser in particular seems to like to find secluded corners and stare mournfully at the mountains.
They do, but she disappeared. I've seen Three Eyes (frequently) and Khim around. I haven't seen Heir since I took my spec. At all.
Huh...that is weird. She always showed up next to Cole in my pt's maybe it was a glitch or bug for some people and they fixed it?
That's my guess because suddenly she was there next to Cole and had never been there before. She just vanished.
I think you misinterpreted my meaning. I wasn't talking about magic itself in the DA universe. You'd have to read the previous posts. It actually proves my point about context, in fact so thank you.
<snip>
Anyways I have to go, I always seem to bring myself back into discussions. Interesting! But time consuming
Apologies if I misunderstood! But your clarification seems to repeat the very idea I was trying to dissuade you from: the assumption that the game's relationship to our reality is limited in scope (just inspiration or the occasional allusion) and that at some point it can be expected to deviate entirely.
To clarify my own position, I don't believe that to be the case.
If you're willing to grant that the relationship between our world and the game world parallels that of Thedas and its fade, then consider the constraints of a mirror, splintered and warped though it may be. A reflection cannot diverge entirely from its source. While it's clear from Gaider's response that what we would term "genetic factors" aren't responsible for creating the full elvhen phenotype, it doesn't necessarily follow that the missing element lacks a real world parallel. (Science being only one of countless frameworks we can use to give context to in-game lore. In this particular example, I suspect the key lies in a connection between Dalish creation myth and 11th century Cathar beliefs, but that's heavy tinfoil territory and I don't want to get off topic.)
To put the idea another way, I don't expect to reach a point in our understanding of the lore where the writers actually shrug and say, "it just works this way because... Magic." I think Gaider's use of the word was (unintentionally) misleading, since there wasn't much he could substitute without spoiling the actual explanation- and in his defense, quite a few real-world concepts fall into the category of "magic" as translated to Thedas. Still, as we piece together the larger puzzle, I expect we'll find each and every element has a conceptual underpinning that ties it to our world, just "through a glass darkly".
You're certainly free to disagree! I just wanted to make sure the earlier point was clear.
Same. Bought myself some pretty new succulents and flowers yesterday while I was banned. To deal with the fact that I got an unfair ban.
I lie, I use pretty much any kind of excuses, or even not at all, to buy cute plants.

A reflection cannot diverge entirely from its source. While it's clear from Laidlaw's response that what we would term "genetic factors" aren't responsible for the full elvhen phenotype, it would be faulty logic to assume that the element that does lacks a real-world parallel. (In this particular example, I think the connection lies in 11th century Cathar belief, but I don't want to get off-topic.)
As for acknowledging the limits of literal translation, that bit seems obvious, no? A direct reflection would actually be incongruous. The rules are always "bent, but never broken".
To sum up, I don't believe there's a point in the lore beyond which the writers simply shrug and say, "it works this way because... Magic." As we piece together the larger puzzle, I think we'll find that each and every revealed element has a conceptual underpinning that ties it to our world, though again, always "through a glass darkly". You're certainly free to disagree! ^w^ I just wanted to make my position more clear.
I just spent like 60 dollars at ulta. Thats kind of like plants? Only not at all.
Spending that much at Ulta is not hard.
Hopefully you got some nice stuff.
My restraint (and since I have to pay a large bill today) was $3 on tea.
That's my guess because suddenly she was there next to Cole and had never been there before. She just vanished.
Well hopefully they fixed it and she won't vanish anymore. ![]()
I guess Heir's just better at being a rogue than Three Eyes or Khim? ![]()
On the topic of trainers, I love how talking to them went:
TEMPLAR: This will be pain. This is about endurance. You will always suffer. Duty. Honor. Licking lyrium crystals for that last high to defeat that one irritating Emissary. This will be your path.
REAVER: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD KHORNE! *Side-effects may include bloodlust, big muscles, eye-twitch, sore throat, and turning into a drake-hybrid monster that has to be put down by a gaggle of Pentaghats*
CHAMPION: First, we must find you a banner to wave about in the air. Then, we must teach you to be dashing! Then, in whatever order you wish, wine, women, wine, and song! We will have so much fun, my dear Inquisitor!
Well hopefully they fixed it and she won't vanish anymore.
I actually went...Wait, who are you? when she addressed me like she knew me, then...ohhh. I guess she was in stealth mode this whole time.

I treated myself today to some tea I've wanted for a while. It's a lavender earl grey blend. In fact, I think I'll go make a cup.

Cute plants, yummy tea, awesome beauty products, it doesn't matter, the important thing is to

(I'd buy all the plants, teas and beauty products if I could. Among many other things.)

I love the librarian, but he's so underused.
They use the same or similar character model...so....I always headcanon that's he's mage that complains to Cassandra after "In Hushed Whispers" He wanted better, SAFER, quarters for his books, and his fellow mages, but mostly for his signed copy of "Swords and Shields Vol 1"
Some of you may remember my barging into this thread a few times to power-whine about my enigmatic computer space problem which mysteriously solved itself.
Well, guess who's back?
![]()
I am currently rocking that sweet sweet 0 free bytes in my C drive, and whenever I try to uninstall something I'm informed I need more space to make more space to have more space to make more space. So that's great.
Apparently it's some kind of positive feedback loop where RollbackX decide become the Devourer of All. I have an external drive now for games, so it's mostly me making pouty faces at the computer while trying to delete and degragment Rollback saves to the point I can actually uninstall the devil program. Still. ![]()

That just sounds like a real pain in the arse. Can you defrag? I have no idea if that would help. I'm just throwing out random thoughts.

Have you tried disc cleanup? You know: C > Properties > Disc Cleanup > (check everything there is to check and proceed)?? (+optionally go to 'more options' > clean up system restore and shadow copies)
So I'm looking up reference images for a fic I'm working on, looking through pictures of women to base my Lavellan's mother on and I've now reached the point where a mannequin reminded me of Solas. Modern day Solavellan AU right here:

Is it Tuesday yet?

Oh that's bizarre. I had the same problem plaguing me for the past couple of months and finally gave into actually fixing the problem today. Turns out it was the shadow restore option going haywire or something. It was using a full 50% of my available disk space, and after I knocked that back to 10% I magically have all the space I could ever want. It was freaking me out for awhile though. I was literally losing a gig or two a day. Stupid computers.

Oh? *desperately grabs collar* Would the shadow restore option be under what Midnight was talking about? Is this the prophesied solution?!
I defragged and got fifty gigs of my life back, but hopefully I can end the problem. My Dad got the same problem too, and we have ourselves little hissy-fits together over our computers. ![]()
Once I get that fixed, I'll fix my installation of the Call of Warhammer mod for Total War. Gotta get in the groove before the actual Total Warhammer comes out, you know?
Also, dwarves. ![]()
Sorry.
