I worked with half of a married couple like this. Ohio though.
It's probably a nation wide affliction. Like Alabama with Alabama State and Auburn.

LOL...my ex husband is from Oklahoma and went to both colleges...it was difficult to pick which team to cheer for when they played each other.
Is group F... A good thing, though? Jeez, I know nothing about real football as well.
Not that I should have to anyway. After all, it's football we're talking about.
There are groups A-I and the winner of the group gets an instant qualification to go play in the Euro, which is in France this year btw.
All we have to do is beat Hungary and I can book my tickets. ![]()

It's probably the biggest sporting event of the year for many if not most Oklahomans. Super Bowl? Pffft.

Ah, it's ok, France will lose and not even qualify for the round of 16, and French medias will shut the hell up about it forever \o/

My favorite kind of sports are the kind that animals play.
Apologies if I misunderstood! But your clarification seems to repeat the very idea I was trying to dissuade you from: the assumption that the game's relationship to our reality is limited in scope (just inspiration or the occasional allusion) and that at some point it can be expected to deviate entirely.
To clarify my own position, I don't believe that to be the case.
If you're willing to grant that the relationship between our world and the game world parallels that of Thedas and its fade, then consider the constraints of a mirror, splintered and warped though it may be. A reflection cannot diverge entirely from its source. While it's clear from Gaider's response that what we would term "genetic factors" aren't responsible for creating the full elvhen phenotype, it doesn't necessarily follow that the missing element lacks a real world parallel. (Science being only one of countless frameworks we can use to give context to in-game lore. In this particular example, I suspect the key lies in a connection between Dalish creation myth and 11th century Cathar beliefs, but that's heavy tinfoil territory and I don't want to get off topic.)
To put the idea another way, I don't expect to reach a point in our understanding of the lore where the writers actually shrug and say, "it just works this way because... Magic." I think Gaider's use of the word was (unintentionally) misleading, since there wasn't much he could substitute without spoiling the actual explanation- and in his defense, quite a few real-world concepts fall into the category of "magic" as translated to Thedas. Still, as we piece together the larger puzzle, I expect we'll find each and every element has a conceptual underpinning that ties it to our world, just "through a glass darkly".
You're certainly free to disagree! I just wanted to make sure the earlier point was clear.
I will concede that my country's bizarre insistence that a game where the ball is mostly handled with your hands should be called football is a little confusing.
This.
Also......I have to confess. I was in marching band in high school and college....and despite it being mandatory that I be at every single game I still have no idea what's going on in that sport. 0%
I was on drumline though.......we were to busy trying to be the cool band nerds I guess.
And my Tegan & Sara playlist just brought me this, which kind of...sounds like a possible Lavellan prepared for Trespasser song?
Soccer

Shhhh, don't bring this upon yourself, we all know you're better than that.

... it's strange how smoothly this thread moved from hoarding snacks/junk food to sports ![]()
Or maybe it's not strange at all, given the time... I suppose I shouldn't be surprised if we moved to quantum physics next!

I'm still talking music. And feels. But I think that's always my niche anyway. ![]()
I may have had a song just inspire a writing breakthrough...for a different story. *tucks away*

That was a few months back. The Solas thread is nothing if not full of people capable of having some interesting, intense, and varied conversations.

So, if Schroedinger's nug is still in the box, but Cole is sitting next to it, do you think he can tell if the nug is alive or dead?

This sounds like a time to go talk to Evie again. ![]()

I admire your commitment. I'll wak around for five minutes trying to trigger a certain banter and quit lol
Heheh, I'll admit I got tired toward the end and just had her stare at the sea while I read A Storm of Swords. ![]()

We didn't even have a soccer team in high school. They do up here. Its more popular now than it was when I was a kid.
American Football is getting more popular over here too, even have a local team now, though it just seems to be filled with people who aren't good enough to play rugby atm. ![]()
Wasn't it your kinsmen who came up with the word soccer?
(Then, admittedly, disowned it?)
There, there. *pats* I just use football for either one and figure other people have a better shot at understanding what I'm talking about than I do.

Fact- Braveheart started when the English started calling football soccer.
Speaking of music and writing, I basically wrote an entire dragon age novel in my head while I was driving around doing errands today. Well I already had some of the outline written down but anyway I feel good about it.
Florence and the machine was blasting and basically every single song made me think of Inquisition. She even mentions the Breach once in some of the lyrics.
You should transfer it from head to screen!
Florence and the machine is great for evoking feels... Hmm, I was actually looking for more music to evoke some more feels... All right, I'm off on another walk!
