Whoa, you lost me there- can you explain what you mean by "magic is the invariable constant"?
(It's Saturday, my brain is in weekend mode)
The one thing that is fundamentally different in the DA universe compared to the real world. What inadvertently modifies our theories because it's the one unknown variable that is "invariably constant". Since only the writers know of the laws established within the world they've created we can only work on what they give us, which is always incomplete. My original post was just to clarify that I think we should approach theory crafting with a grain of salt when discussing parallels and themes. That getting carried away in the parallels from our world sometimes makes us focus too much on what we know rather than what the fantasy world has established and can establish (based on the fantastical aspects that inhabit it) because it's so very well grounded in reality. Over-analyzing every aspect sometimes makes us lose perspective and more importantly, the emotional resonance that comes with experiencing the whole story, thinking too much instead of feeling.
Basically it's like examining every aspect of a painting and infusing it with personal meaning. The artist had an intended message when painting but he also had specific emotions that channeled his creativity. Everyone can however bring their own interpretation to that same painting while having a completely different vision of it's intended purpose as well as what it evokes within them. If you start breaking down the colors, the strokes, the shading, the abstract or concrete, the aspect, the style then by the end, you lose sense of the whole, the feeling it invokes within you and the intended vision.
Anyways I hope my analogy was clear enough. I could keep explaining but maybe I should just bang my head against a wall
The more I explain the less I feel I'm making sense or getting my message across.
