He almost sounds like he's flirting when you choose the second option at the end. Head tilt and all.

https://www.youtube....h?v=3lIRLlZMjRM at 3:47.

Yep, ancient elves like him. I predict many

"Then I leave the world in good hands." "Haha yes. My hands are good at many things, believe me." (Oh god I'm so sorry but I had to)

This. I'd just like her to have an explanation. She'd manage in the end but the way the game left it, she was hurt and utterly confused and frustrated at his clamming up.

Yea most of my anxiety towards the Solas breakup was the lack of closure. He's always so distant with his "polite mask" on at all times, so it's very difficult to read his emotions. Our Lavellans were left understanding nothing.

Now that I think about it, if there's a scene where Solas breaks down a bit in the DLC that would be amazing. It would be proof that he really cares, besides him just saying "what we had was real" right before he runs away to do his godly things.

I'm enjoying where this thread has gone. Also the pictures. And don't worry about Ameridan and Abelas, Cee. I'm the only one on earth who has the hots for Imshael

I was daydreaming earlier about how you could make Imshael a companion in DA4. Imshael alone or Imshael possessing Michel's body lol.

I wouldn't say that...

He was a little charming...

And I think the potential narrative of capturing the interest of a desire demon choice spirit does have something to it.

A completely selfish companion like a choice spirit would be interesting. Just give the PC plot armor to make him not want to murder us in our sleep.

<snippy snap>

Anyways I hope my analogy was clear enough. I could keep explaining but maybe I should just bang my head against a wall ;) The more I explain the less I feel I'm making sense or getting my message across.

No worries, I gotcha.  Both you and madrar make sense- it's the correct logical conclusion from two very disparate starting perspectives.

If magic is an exaggeration of real world choice, then the fact that it exists in Thedas can't be taken to counter-indicate the theory that warped real world concepts underlie every aspect of the DA universe.

If magic is not, and is thus Thedas-specific, that breaks the link.  This system of 'magic' may be internally consistent, but since it exists independently from the world outside the game, the game world is no longer obligated to follow a warped version of real world rules.  It becomes impossible to assume that a parallel exists for any given element.

I have to say, I tend to lean toward the former camp.  I'm still working on the full picture, but all the pieces that have fallen into place for me so far have had forehead-smackingly obvious connections after the fact.   :?   That said, there's no argument that there's an inherent danger in exploring those parallels, both in reading meaning where it wasn't intended, and in pushing the comparison beyond its appliable scope.  Still, even if the tinfoil gets a bit thick at times, I'd rather see where a shaky theory might lead and judge its merits at the end than discard a potential path of exploration just because it seemed uncertain at the outset.

As for your analogy, I can't imagine theorycrafting interfering with my enjoyment of a game.   :D  It's the hot fudge on the sundae!

I haven't read The Masked Empire yet. I need to. It's sitting on my shelf. I always hate attacking him though but he made me laugh. I have a great weakness for a sense of humor. Even from a choice spirit apparently. I stopped questioning my life choices long ago, less mental strain that way. xD

I'd be on board for the alone part. That was one reason Anders never appealed to me in DA 2 but I'd still be curious enough to have a go at it.

Are you suuuure? :P

Actually, yes,. I don't know, Abelas and the Sentinels look too....otherworldly and weird to me. I mean not bad but then again, I didn't think that much of Solas' looks at first. ;) And my favorite in-game romances have included a blue alien who said "I don't want any tentacled creature inside your mind --except me."

So I grew up with movies like Beauty and the Beast and TV shows like Gargoyles, and they have had an impact on my fictional interests.

I mean look it this guy. I know plenty of people, lovely Elisa Maza below included, who would jump for joy at having him glide them through the night sky.

hqdefault.jpg

My point is, as long as their sentient and at least vaguely humanoid I would probably date them if they were a romance option in a video game.

Well.

There are lots of Garrus fans who would agree. I love Garrus but he was BFF material for my Shepard.

Goliath~

I watched that show every day waiting for them to get together. And Logan and Jean from X-Men.

That takes me back. I feel old now. lol

Hmmm Imshael is not exactly my type but one thing about him does peak my interests: can he (a demon) love?

Can spirits have romantic feelings?

Now that would be hella interesting

Fair enough! I was the same at the start too, I even looked for a hair mod (the baldness won out in the end).

I really like Elven noses.. The way the nostrils rise significantly higher than the tip. Isn't that the "Greek" nose shape? Also squint. Just, yes.

I think this picture captures it well:

Oh, it just turned Sunday here. Just have to get through today. Then Monday. Then part of Tuesday since things just don't release at midnight like they're supposed to. Then until someone uploads or streams. This one needs to find out when Ashe plans to do hers.

well i'm actually greek on my dad's side (and apparently look greek, as some people have said) and I do have a nose a bit like the elves. My nose actually looks a lot like my Lavellan's, but just bigger and with a less flat bridge.

And thank you for liking my nose lol

I had a really difficult time with Garrus because he's so alien looking.. (duh.) But I eventually grew to find him adorable! The way his mandibles move when he's considering something.. I can't explain it well, but it's there and it's so cute! (But it's mostly the voice, honestly.) My Shepard just couldn't resist his charm.  :P

Guys I just realized something super intense.

In DA:O in the temple of sacred ashes, Shartan's image says the riddle "I'm neither a guest nor trespasser (*AHEM*) be; in this place I belong, that belongs also to me."

The answer to the riddle is "home" btw

Anyways, totally unrelated to the Trespasser DLC? I think not.

(btw I believe the theory that Solas is Shartan so that's why this is tickling my fancy so much)

You guys are so great, I ran out of likes.

At this time of night my thoughts are usually occupied by pantheon sex parties. But Abelas and Ameridan can join.

Garrus is kind of adorable in an awkward way but I obviously haven't romanced him. I've only done one full playthrough (including all DLC) and my Shepard was lesbian. Still, he was my Shepard's best friend for several reasons. She understands him well. Had him and Liara at the end, her best friend and her love.

It's not meant to always interfere, It's more about pacing yourself. Finding a balance between your perceptions and what is laid out in front of you. I'm always theory crafting, so for me it's more about a cautionary tale... Falling down the rabbit hole and digging a grave rather than digging for gold and then digging your way back out. But that's just my opinion, so take it also with a grain of salt ;)

Here I think these illustrate the "danger" better than I can, they're also a fun read, because, well, Dragon Age :)

I love writing descriptions of Solas. It involves staring at a lot of screenshots of Solas.
