At the end I managed to beat the rift, some sweet drops I must say.

Maybe I should re-build my tree though, those 3 wretched despair demons were sooooo annoying.

Thanks for the tips -wipes sweat from brow-

You're welcome and gratz :3

And yes - rifts in JoH may be a pain to beat, but they drop some pretty sweet loot, which is why I usually get a lot of them done first.

Damn, the french dub for Solas is actually really well voiced. I'm impressed. Usually actors who dub have a hard time recreating or matching the persona and original feel of the character. Not that they are less talented, just that the actors persona isn't well translated because it's not original, the person is limited in his interpretation. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

I use Duolingo as a key part of my Portuguese study. I also try to watch things, read Brazilian websites and occasionally, magazines. I just followed the Buzzfeed Brasil account the other day because it will give me links that are modern and simple things to read. I also use music for language learning. Disney songs work really well. :D  They're also very easy to find on Youtube. People make entire playlists or compilation videos.

Since we're talking language, I went looking for stuff like this:

I just now watched the French version after seeing Frank's response.

I have no idea what they're saying but... DAMN. How does French manage to sound so sexy? French Solas

It echoes mine like lost whales, swimming deep in the oceans, singing to each other sad plaintive songs from miles and miles away, trying to reunite in the darkness and the cold, to try to, at least, not be so alone anymore.

That is the most depressing thing I've ever heard.

I have seen way too many native English-speaking people making the biggest mistakes ever while writing online (like "would of" instead of "would have", or getting tricked by they're/their/there you're/your. Among other things, like not even trying to write properly at all), trust me when I say your English is perfectly fine compared to that. Really, don't stress about it, you're good.

I often face that problem when writing a lot quickly. I'm always skim proofreading so I end up editing my stuff constantly when I see myself making an amateur's mistake like your and you're their there and so on.

Also I keep envisioning you as Delphine from Orphan Black, and imagine her speaking when I read your posts. It's kind of weird but quite entertaining... Just thought I'd mention that as well.

Est-ce que tu es blonde par hasard? (je te taquine en passant, pas besoin de me repondre :P)

You know what's more depressing? Whales singing off-tune, making them unable to find other whales to be around with and mate.

Am I the only one who sets Solas' behavior to "defend controlled character", just so I can squeeze out a few sweet moments when the enemy is charging towards Lavellan, but gets knocked down by his stone fist?

LOL I thought I am silly doing that and headcannoning that my love is rushing to protect me. Happy to see I am not alone :)

Mmm so I feel like you're a real expert on this, so may I ask - do you have an recommended build for my Rift Mage? :D

Like the whole set of skills, I'm trying to wrap my head around it, it's kind of hard to say goodbye to my electricity stuff but if I must I shall.

I was playing on Nightmare as well.  I found it much easier having no rogue in the party.  My Inky is a KE mage, I did JoH with Blackwall, IB, and Dorian.  I was playing post ending so no Solas.  Things were a bit hairy sometimes, but the boss fight in The Old Temple was whooping my ass so bad.  After a couple hours of frustration I relented and put it down to Hard because I just wanted to see the story more than I wanted to experience it on Nightmare.  Thankfully there's no Nightmare achievements in the DLC, and I already unlocked it for the main game.

Piece of advice, make sure you have everything optimal before you even go through the gates of The Old Temple.  It's the point of no return and you can't fast travel out.  Make sure you have more than enough materials for re-equipping your tonics/grenades etc.  I found it far more difficult than anything in the main game on Nightmare.

Mmm

I could think of a translation of it to Hebrew.. But I don't know French, sorry :(

Though I need to understand the word fully before, I understand the intent behind it use it but since my language doesn't have a direct translation to "spiral" I'll have to understand the term fully first XD

Ooh, thanks for the tips.

I, as default, don't run with a rogue on my Nightmare run because they be soft squishy flesh creatures (more then the rest).

I run with Solas, IB & Blackwall, so it's not as different :D

I play pre-end and I need that Nightmare achievement... :(

Spiral... I think the way it's used it means you're going in circles, reliving the same pain over and over, but it's not exactly the same pain every time. It gets deeper and deeper, you slide further down on your way to experiencing utter HELL.

I'd rather remind you of Delphine from Orphan Black, than Delphine from AHS. Delphine from Empire is alright.

I don't know what obsession American TV Show writers have with the name Delphine, but I've seen more characters from American TV shows named Delphine in 2 years, than I've seen on French TV shows my whole frigging life. Not that I'd complain, it lowkey makes me a bit hipster. It's not really a popular name in France nowadays.

And no, I'm not blonde. I'm... kind of redhead. Let's say my parents made two bright ginger boys before me, and used whatever ginger genetic dye was left on me, meaning not much. So it's in between dark blonde and redhead.

Tourmente de l'Enfer? Something like that, sort of.

I always envy English's capability to easily make portmanteau words. French always have to follow such strict boring rules.

Thanks!

English has its conveniences but French words sound so beautiful and refined. Words like portmanteau.

help

Since we have such a broad array of languages in the thread, anyone have a word for a combination of excitement and dread whose ever-increasing pitch borders on physical pain?

(German has to have something.  German has all the great words.  And If not, I hereby christen Aufregungspannungqual.)

Diarrhea?

So something like

צניחה לגיהנום (literally "descend to hell")

Or

להסתחרר לכיוון לגיהנום (literally "spiral towards hell")

I can't make it a one word, Hebrew... Does not compute.

I can make up one though!

לחגיהנום

Though it reminds me of the fact holidays are coming up and "חג" means holiday, and family meeting are hellish.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How does a blonde-redheaded look like? My brain fails.

I can only think of strawberry blonde but it's not really strawberry-like in color.

A good Swedish word might be "hjärtesorg" (lit. "Sorrow of the heart"). You're in love with someone/something but know you shouldn't/can't/won't and so it hurts emotionally but can still be described as a physical pain.

I can help you out with that. Choose your specialty and invest what you want in it. Then choose these. It's a build I made to compliment all specializations (Though I play a Knight-Enchanter, I've used and tweaked it for Solas and Dorian). It has every element for adaptability. Tweak it how ever you like. I dice up everything and anything.

I also like the German voice for Solas. But I do prefer the deeper voice shown in the French dub, draws me in more XD Before we know it, there might a multi language of that break-up scene...
