Because I felt like doing something creative (and I like sharing my characters), here's my current Endgame playbook for the last chapter of DAI:

Plan #WolfHunt
- starring Solas smitten Enalen "Tiger Festival" Lavellan
- also starring my preferred world state [Hawke Sac'd, Loghain alive, Alistair rules, Warden looking for Cure]
- This is by far my favorite inquisitor, right down to the rogue archer playstyle that I like best. I've wrote stories about her and taken thousands of screenshots of her journey. I love everything about her and her playthrough and I would be over the moon if I got to play her again in DA4. However, she will only become my canon inquisitor if the encounter with Solas is at least acceptably intriguing and she survives it.
Plan #HappilyEverAfter
- starring my Cullenite Serenity Trevelyan
- also starring my preferred world state
- This is my knight enchanter. The one I've entertained notions of shipping with Solas. Mechanically she is with Cullen, and since that is such a warm fuzzy balm to this Solavellan player's broken little heart, I hope it continues in the dlc. If Tiger Festival ends up becomming canon, I will likely still need the disney ending for recovery purposes. If Tiger doesn't make it or the encounter with Solas is disappointing and stupid, Serenity will become my canon inquisitor. Provided she survives, of course.
Plan #TableFlip
- starring my undecided Kitty Cadash
- also starring a different world state where Alistair killed Loghain and stayed a warden
- Currently she's stalling in Haven. If Tiger or Serenity end up being canon Inquisitor, I'll continue with this playthrough, likely attach her to Blackwall and explore the world state changes. She will become my canon inquisitor only if the inquisitor MUST die and if that happens I'll start her over with my preferred world state. Since my dwarven noble warden was the one who stepped up and sacrificed herself in DAO I figured I'd continue the selfless tradition if required. Ever the front line, no?
Anyway. Them's my plans. Won't be long now, I reckon. I look at these faces and wonder which will end up as the final face of the Inquisitor in my world state. Oh please, powers that be, let it be Tiger!
I need it to be Tiger. :C

first I'm taking in my first and canonquiz the Solasmancer, because I want to experience the reveals raw firsthand and personal that way. I'm not in the business of trying to pre-prepare and arrange pillows for her or my landing.
there will be consequences for her actions. sending in someone else first would totally rob and dampen the thunder of the wolf hunt for me.

eep. I was hoping Jewlie was going to field this one, because connotation is a minefield. Jikoku mageru would be 地獄曲げる, but the tricky thing about "pride" is that it depends heavily on context. We have a ton of synonyms in English, but none of them really have the same dualism: self-respecting, deserved confidence and cocky, disdainful arrogance. It would take a native speaker to suss out the perfect parallel.
Anyway, the only Japanese I can offer is weighted toward the latter:
誇り is the usual translation, but not sure about the positive connotation aspect
うぬぼれ is more overconfident/vain
傲慢 is arrogant, haughty
自尊心 is neutral, but not really the right idea
見識 is probably way too positive. I like it for Solas, though. ^w^
*makes batsignal for Jewlie*
Don't know Japanese, but I think 傲慢 would be the most suitable and most common translation of 'pride' in Chinese. And I think that the word 傲 capture the pride of solas pretty well. 傲 could be a very cooool word in Chinese.
見識is more like wisdom, knowledge and experience, while 自尊心 is a neutral noun that, well, is usually patched with adjectives like 'high' or 'low', High+自尊心 may mean that guy has pride and is easily to be offended if you say something bad about him, while low+自尊心 mean that guy just don't have much confidence.
Though I don't know if these words would mean very differently in Japanese.

That's pretty similar to how I feel about it. I prefer to have the emotional impact, whatever it turns out to be, be experienced on my canon Inquisitor. I don't think things will turn out too horribly for her.
A little backstory on my play throughs, world states, and what not. My Warden that was the most important to me was an elf mage. The first time I play a game is always blindly. I never look for information anywhere so I can make the "best" choices. She romanced Alistair, and I wanted to make him King. Yeah... you all know how that goes! The one thing I had spoiled about DAI before I started was the choice you have to make in the Fade. And I am glad I knew that going in. Because my fave Warden ended up remaining with Alistair, and they were both Wardens. So when I set up my world state I had decided to make Alistair King and my Warden his mistress. My goal was to keep that choice in the Fade easier for myself. (Poor Stroud) I did have a Cousland that became Queen with Alistair, but I wanted the continuity of my mage Warden, mage Hawke for my world state.
My second play through was as a Human Templar using my Cousland Queen's world state. I wanted to see different choices and I was in such a hellspiral from my first PT.
My third PT is what I consider my canon Inquisitor. It's basically a do over of my first character. She has the same name and face. I made all of the same choices in DAI as I did the first time. But I couldn't stand the fact that I had made my Warden Alistair's mistress. I changed her romance to Zev, and that felt like a better compromise in the end.
Blah, blah, blah. Anyways my canon Lavellan had Cole remain more like a spirit. She didn't drink from the Well. She allied with the mages and didn't exile the Wardens. Poor Stroud. Saved the Chargers and let the Dreadnought sink. I don't think the consequences of that will be too terrible. Leliana (unhardened) ended up as Divine. Shhhh I am ok with that one.
I'm not what I'd call a big Leli fan, but I have my reasons. I know how the mage debates sometimes go, so let's just say I am a moron that likes the idea of them having more freedoms. I think Cass would be really fair to the mages as well. But that's just how it went. My 1st Lavellan ended up with Cass because she ended up believing in the Maker and what not. I didn't play it that way in my do-over so that pushed things more in Leliana's favor is my guess.
edit:
Woops I totally forgot that I did the Dark Ritual in Origins. So yeah that was also in my world state.

Probably.. Most likely...
I want to see more of the Elvhen Pantheon though..
How about this:
You see Solas exiting an Eluvian at an unclear destination, everything's dark, perhaps a cave? From the darkness you hear
"Enchantment!"
And then Solas turns around, "Hello, June, long time no see"
"Enchantment..."
Edit:
Solas: "I suspect you have questions, my old friend"

I think so. I also think that it could show one of these:
- Morrigan with Flemythals power
- A new enemy that is more powerful than anything we have encountered so far
- Something that has to do with one of the other companions. Another secret...
- Elven pantheon

I tried testing the DAI trial on my slightly worn out laptop with a really crappy graphics card and it went about as well as can be expected. Shiny hair, slow loading, audio skipping like it was songified...
Still better than the PS3 version.

I really wish I could romance Josephine, she's the only other romance I'd be interested in aside from Solas. Unfortunately I only play one character throughout all my playthroughs, even if I do explore different options sometimes with that character. And I could never not romance Solas, and I would never romance Josephine on the side, it just seems... wrong.
I'm kind of looking forward to the end of DAI. It means I can finally (hopefully) get closure and reroll my Lavellan to live in happy fluffy fairy tale romance with Josie.
Imagine that at the end of Tresspasser Solas holds your Lavellan close and their foreheads touch. Then he says, "Before you choose to come with me, I want you to try to find happiness with somebody else. My path is far too dark for your brihgt spirit to walk along unknowingly." Then he casts a spell to send your Lavellan back when it all began. You get to play the game all over again and Lavellan must try to be with somebody else, to either find peace or to show Solas that truly, no matter what, he is the one.
There. You are free.
Go romance Josephine!
This is reminding me of an animo comic where Hawke makes Isabela promise that she'll take care of Fenris if anything happens to him. And by 'take care' he means take care.
Romancing Josephine is still a choice too, but while you feel confident that your Trevelyan will get to run off into the sunset with her to be happy, I can't feel confident that my Adaar will get the same outcome because the games have been really good about denying the same happy ending with an LI for one PC race that they provide for a human character in the same circumstances.
Romance Alistair as a human? Yay! You get to stay together and be happy no matter what! (You get to stay with him if he stays a Warden and marry him if he becomes king.) Romance him as a non-human? Well, you'd better make the right choices if you don't want to get dumped.
You also said that you can't see them screwing over an entire race of PCs while everyone else gets their happy ending, but they already did that with the Elven Inquisitor. Our race-specific war table missions are the only ones that result in our entire family slaughtered (doesn't happen to any other Inquisitor), and Solas is the only love interest who can only be romanced by an Elf, and he's the only one who leaves no matter what. (Cullen is the only other race-gated romance, but he's available to humans and he's doesn't leave no matter what you do.) (P.S. Oh yeah, Sera also only gives you an ultimatum and dumps you if you're a Dalish Inquisitor. She doesn't do that to any other raced Inquisitor.)
And saying, "Well, romancing them in the first place is still a choice" doesn't really count because we don't choose to go into the relationship planning to have our hearts broken. When you think about it, the game doesn't warn that the love interest will definitely leave unless we definitely do X, so we're kind of tricked into it. And since the "tricked into heartbreak" scenarios tend to happen to non-human protagonists who pick a love interest compared to human protagonists who choose the same love interest in the same scenario, I think I have every right to feel cautious.
Amell rolls her eyes at this bolded statement.
Anyone else running a "test" Lavellan for Trespasser? I can't bear to allow my "canon" Alin Lavellan have his heart broken by Solas if the worst comes to pass, so I've started a new Lavellan and am trying to rush through the game before Tuesday >.> (I'm also worried the mod won't carry the romance through to the DLC but I actually don't think that will be a problem.)
(Also sorry to keep busting in on y'all's thread; I'm only on the BSN sporatically, and well, it just seems that Solas has become my Fenris, my Kaidan, my... you know, THAT love interest you just can't seem to not play)
I went into my Solavellan playthrough with no spoilers. I'm ending it the same way. Whatever happens between her and Solas I'm seeing it through with my first and canon Inquisitor.
Spoiler
I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
Just wanted to say, it's been September 7 here for quite a while where I live. Though I fully expect that I'll be seeing some actual Trespasser DLC stuff on Wednesday, September 9 on my time because timezones.
(I'm gonna vomit out of nervousness.)

If this game wasn't a Bioware game, I'd say, "Yes, yes, and yes". But since this is Bioware... I honestly don't know. I've been down in the dumps the whole day today thinking of how this DLC could possibly end. ![]()
