As much as I feel for Varricmancers, I so selfishly am happy that Solas has a high chance now. I'm so entangled in my head canon if Raina can't romance him I prolly won't play her. OTL I told myself not to plan too much but they are just so perfect for each other!!

I'm so torn Sola threadians, I don't know which way to turn. My first playthrough will likely romance Solas. I always play female first, but torn between human mage or human two handed warrior. Aslo dalish mage, that sounds interesting too. I like mages, but also..I just....IJUSTLIKEEVERYTHING.

I may have to resort to looking through abilities in my dragon age guide when it comes to decide. Being a mage is fun...

I will play a Dalish female mage first, just because I've wanted to play one since DAO. Solas, if possible, will be my first romance, so they can have beautiful (and certainly imaginary) knife ear babies

Choose the character you want to play first, then decide on the appropriate romance.

My first play through is always a mage. 80% of my play throughs are mages. The other is rogue. I don't like playing warrior. I'm having a hard time figuring who to pair with Solas, please be a LI. I was set on Dalish mage, now I kinda want to put him with human mage because of the mage background info we have.

I'm playing a mage first too.  Favorite class forever. ♡  I like the idea of a Circle mage and Solas (or Dorian).  I think the free mage vs. Circle mage thing would add an interesting layer to the dynamic.

Everyone is welcome! I would have been happy with Varric or Solas as an LI. Walking on cloud 9 if it had been both. Now at least I have Solas, I hope. A high probability.

In my opinion, this pretty much confirms that it's Solas and Vivienne left as LIs... the important question is whether they are both bi (I hope so...) and if either of them are race gated... what's the general consensus on the Solas thread?? I'm thinking Viv might be restricted to humans and elves and Solas, despite being open minded, could never fall in love with a dwarf because they can't enter the Fade?

Yeah, I'm banking on Solas/Vivienne.  I just am not getting love interest vibes from Blackwall, there are too many dev hints among other things, but hey, I could be wrong.  Solas/Vivienne is definitely the combination I want, but Patrick's words about "straighty will be okay" makes me wonder if the final two are both men.

I suppose if I can scratch out a sliver of silver lining from this cloud of disappointment, it's that's I know now that my first playthrough will be as a Dalish Mage...

It was confirmed or heavily implied (depending on how you read his tweet) by Gaider that at least one of the remaining LI's is not race-gated. Of the two left, to me, Vivienne makes more sense to be gated for political reasons. That said, I could see them saying Solas is gated against Dwarves because of their lack of Fade connection. Now, who of Cullen, Cassandra, Sera, or Dorian is gated, well, I have no clue.

 

And poor Blackwall. Not enough data to make conjecture.

Hmm good point, especially after announcing Varric isn't an LI... that would just be cruel to people who play as dwarfs/wanted a dwarf relationship. I hope neither of them will be race restricted and both with be bi, but I thought the devs confirmed two LIs were race restricted? Am I remembering that wrong? I could have sworn it would be Iron Bull, but I was wrong...

No, you're right. Two are gated!

 

But, I swear if both are dwarf gates I will be really mad. My first play through is going to be dwarf and this character, with Varric not being an LI would love Solas because he's so intelligent and handsome and interesting!

It's good Mike has cleared it up, but now I'm nosy about what 'dispelling remaining mysteries' means. Would be great to come back from work to find this thread is full celebration mode Will be watching the inter-webs very, very closely.

Two are gated but David Gaider made comments that sounded like only one of the unrevealed LIs was race-gated.  Like Phate Phoenix said, we don't know enough about Blackwall to even guess.  But Solas has that part in his interview about not wanting to be seen as "just an elf" so he's probably the least likely of the three remaining possibilities to be race gated.

 

Remember that Iron Bull was originally race-gated and very likely against dwarves, so dwarves of both genders would need a male LI available to them to give them the same two options that everyone else has.  (All race/gender/sexuality possibilities have two options, that's what the DAI team considers fair.)

 

If I had to guess, someone is probably gated against qunari, since IB was almost certainly not gated against them.

I'm planning on romancing him with an male elf with an American accent, but I had already decided that before I knew anything about Torchwood.  Happy coincidences.
