Its not just genocide. It is the genocide of everyone who is essentially not an ancient Elf. If you played as a mage, you will recall Your Trainer saying that the magic that flooded the world after the Breach caused many mages to die because they were overloaded with arcane forces. Now if that is what happens to mages, what do you think will happen to non-mages, Elf or no Elf ?

 

I hate to say it, but Solas is just like Corypheus, except he looks less ugly and he has some ethics and morals. Both are upset with how the world is. Both think that it is their fault. Both aim to fix this by doing drastic shite. The difference is that Solas' path will be slightly less horrifying and slightly less painful. Emphasize on slightly. The funny thing is Solas is also like Anders, minus the part being possessed by a spirit.

 

Darn it, the only sane guy from the past that we had in game is Ameridan and he died. The plan that he is carrying out is so deadly that the Inquisition, whatever remains of it, is forced to go to Tevinter to seek help.

 

I guess my female Lavellan will go with Cully Wully. He gets a lovely mabari hound for himself and he marries you.

b)is ok with killing everyone 

 

He's crossed every line imaginable. I feel slightly betrayed that I was tricked into thinking he was such a great character. His dark side is darker than I ever thought it was or could ever be.

That said, I'd really like to know, as a Solasmancer, should I go ahead and purchase it? If it's worth it for Solas, I would buy the other DLCs as well and play through those first.

Ok. It's was horrible...

 

What happened between Solas and Lavellan has shocked me... May be I'm an idiot. Foolish optimistic man... But this...

I'm disappointed. Like never before. Why so useless drama? For what?

Were are the options? Why did she not have any choices, ways to change this ending? About Solas I mean.

Why she is can't go with him or anything else? Why in dlc Witch hunt Warden can did it with Morrigan?

Why Lavellan and Solas will be only one couple with so bad ending? Without options. ABSOLUTELY

Why other people have weddings, dogs, but we are NOTHING. Even a little.

Is it real looks like the people who cares about this couple are masochist? I'm playing computer games for fun, just a little.

But you took even this. I don't understand what purposes did you pursue, but it was mistake. From this game and this romance in the end I've got only pain, sorrow and disappoint. Why Solamancers deserve it?

Solas, YOU STUPID EGG!

 

 

This was like the whole main game romance boiled down again into 'chase Solas, get rejected by Solas for 'reasons' and never ever get the chance to make your case, lather, rinse and repeat'. It makes Lavellan pathetic. Even the body language in that scene, with her on the ground and him looming over her, as if she's begging. And that is so not who she is.

 

Also: Solas, YOU STUPID EGG!

 

P.S. Can't afford XBoxOne for now, and yes, I am bitter that Bioware decided to make the !$#!@ EPILOGUE next-gen only. Reduced to watching this on livestream, but have to admit I'm kind of glad in the aftermath.

Don't expect a happy ending.

Welp, the devs weren't entirely honest talking about how the DLC wasn't about Solas.  It's kind of like saying Inquisition isn't about Solas.  I suppose it isn't, but he's still the key piece on which everything turns, the one who sets everything in motion.

 

Solas aside, this was definitely one of my favorite pieces of DLC, between lore and exploration and companion dialogue.  Being able to schmooze with everyone was great, and at one point I turned to my boyfriend and said, "With friends like these, who needs Solas?"  Sera and Dorian's dialogue in particular pulled at my heartstrings; considering how badly Sera and my Lavellan handled the aftermath of Mythal, Sera's offer to join the Jennies was just what she needed.  

 

As for our Dread Wolf himself...I'm glad I was braced for heartbreak.  I didn't want his plotline to be "And then I will tear down the VEEEEEIL" TBH.  It was IMO too obvious and Bond villain-ish, but that might just be because we all worked it out months ago in speculation.  I am glad that Lavellan gets to tell him two important things, though: 1) she loves him and 2) she's going to save both him, AND her world.  Mine would never, ever help him destroy the Veil.  Not in a million years,  But I'm really glad that doesn't mean she has to be his enemy.

Don't give up yet.  Quizzy's still alive, after all, and given the ending I'm hopeful that she will be the one to square with Solas's story.  I have to admit that I was not expecting a happy ending for Solas anyway; Patrick Weekes flat-out told us months ago that Solas's isn't a happy story.  And quizzy does have the option to break it off with him and move onto someone else.  There has to be a reason why the game gives us that broken heart even if he leaves no matter what.

Well...he's not...because Solas wants to end the world and Corypheus inadvertently saved it.  CORYPHEUS BOUGHT YOU TIME. BOW TO HIM. BOW TO THE WILL THAT IS CORYPHEUS.

 

I actually think...if the writing is beefed up. He'll be a fantastic villain.

 

Edit: but I think that's interesting. you can make him see or you may have to kill him. im hopping for BIG battles next game.

It's their use of magic to explore the unexplored that caused their demise. You claiming that it'll have genocidal consequences on non-mages or non-elves seems a bit hyperbolic. Not that I'm discounting massive casualties, but it's hardly a wave of death for anyone who's not an elf. Magic will return, that comes with spirits turning into demons- and hordes of them roaming freely-, evil elven gods and Forgotten ones. But it also may change for the better. Elves will be immortal again. Flying fortresses and magical wonders a possibility again. As Solas says, "Imagine if spirits were not a rarity but a part of our natural world like... a fast-flowing river. Yes, it can drown careless children, but it can also carry a merchant's goods or grind a miller's flour. That is what the world could be if the Veil were not present. For better or worse."

 

Good or bad is subjective but life will change, I just don't think it may be as grim as you make it out to be. Though you're mileage may vary depending on your perspective.

The pantheon killed Mythal. There was a duel between Falon'din and Elgar'nan fought by their champions to avoid a war. Sylaise and June build things for eachother and are bffs. Apparently the pantheon was going to destroy the world which finally kicked Solas into action and they were locked in the fade by Solas suffering eternal torment or something. Which is what they deserved according to him, even though June is completely innocent.

A few pages before, I stated that Solas is bald Magneto and friendly male mage Inquisitor is amputated Charles Xavier. Later, I made the post about Solas advocating for genocide and therefore he is evil and must be stopped. Both viewpoints are valid.

 

I was just making them to see how people would perceive these viewpoints. I have done this before with mage alliance vs mage conscription and other issues.

Same here. I mean, they're on opposite sides, but they aren't enemies. Which was pretty much my best-case-scenario after I realized that Solas was probably gonna be an antagonist.

 

Plus, how great was the Inquisitor making it her mission to save Solas from himself? Maybe I'm weird but I love romances that do this. This is my catnip. And it is so in-character for my Inquisitor. She's very much a, "I will get the best possible solution out of this problem" kind of person. 

 

God, now I really want to play as quizzy again. I'd be alright with playing as one of her underlings, so long as she gets to confront Solas. But it'd be so much better if I could do it myself.

I would prefer for him not to be evil from a storytelling perspective.  Good people can do very terrible things in fiction, and depending on the circumstances of their story, they might be hailed as good guys by the end.  Like Severus Snape, I feel like making Solas straight-up evil would effectively gut the character.

 

But here's the silver lining; if he's evil, make him brilliant.  Make him dangerous, manipulative, and scarily clever.  Make it feel like he's going to win.  Make the struggle against him a physical, mental, and emotional ordeal, doubly so for Lavellan.  And at the end, make Solas pay for it.  Having a villain story of that caliber would IMO be worth losing Solas as a sympathetic antihero.

Even discounting that, everybody suddenly becoming mages is a BIG problem. You suddenly have all these newly made mages who have no idea how to use their powers = innocent people dead. You suddenly have new mages who have no idea how to protect themselves from demons = abominations and innocent people dead. You suddenly have a world where spirits and regular people interact = innocent spirits twisted into demons and again INNOCENT PEOPLE DEAD. 

 

Let's look at this objectively. The outcome with the least innocent people dead is the best outcome. But that's just my "perspective"

IMO the important thing is that Lavellan gets to try redeeming him, even if it doesn't work out right now.  She doesn't have to hate him.  She doesn't have to forget him.  And he clearly doesn't let go of her either.  Yes, they're continuing to string us along with hope.  Part of me is really glad, because that means their story isn't over and I get to continue following it.  And part of me wants to punch Patrick Weekes in the face, because it means I THOUGHT I was going to be done with feels rollercoaster, and I'm totally not

Solas didn't seem to care about innocent people when he created the veil and all the cities and pathways in the crossroads collapsed and millions (probably many more) innocent elves died.

 

His sense of morality is starting to show itself as extremely twisted.
