I would not be surprised if in DA4, part of the game requires us to either wake a Titan up or to free some of Evanuris to fight Solas toe to toe. To fight someone as powerful as Fen'Harel, you will need someone else who is as powerful as he is. Currently, I do not know of anyone except Titans and the Evanuris.

 

I hope we can free June or Sylaise to knock some sense into the Egghead. Or that Valta can get us a Titan to do that.

At the moment I'm pretty tired and will need to think on the DLC but at the moment it's a case of I don't think I can like him anymore.

I think his story is going to be fantastic. And am super happy with the DLC and how far they went with him but yeah...he's not good.  

 

Though I think the redemption path could be insanely moving.  But yeah...it's really really hard now to like him.

I have a horrible feeling that taking down the Veil will actually release the Blight fully into the world.  Look what happened when Corypheus and Co. went there?  I mean, the Chant is wrong that the Maker cursed them but it seems it was right that they brought the Blight back when they went into the Black City.  So Solas wouldn't be able to get back the world he had because Blight everywhere.

 

Or I'm completely wrong.

I believe the Blight is some form of tool, probably by the Forgotten Ones, that Solas uses as a method to torment and torture the Evanuris in their prison for eternity.

 

Recall that the Forgotten Ones were being of pestilence, disease, fear, etc. While this is in all likelihood a half truth, I believe there is some truth beneath all the BS.

 

This prison is what the Chant of Light calls the Black City / Golden City.

 

This tool by the Forgotten Ones also grants someone effective immortality, which is what Corypheus and the rest of the original magisters achieved.

 

One who masters the Blight gain effective immortality, while those who are slaves to it such as the Wardens become stronger in some way but ultimately die.

 

It also means that we might see the Architect again, at least in some capacity, in the future.

I truly disagree. People seem to be missing key stuff, but it takes time to digest it all. Took me all day before I realized what's actually going on, and I'm not giving up.

 

I feel that part of the fandom might split like the anders fandom and the anders apologists.

I doubt we'll get to see the pantheon tbh, releasing them seems to only be possible by tearing down the veil, which I think is what well stop in the next game.

Maybe we'll see some forgotten ones.

I can't help it - I think I like him more now ...Probably because I suspected and put a bet on the whole "I must destroy this world to restore mine" from the beginning, therefore him being revealed as tragic antihero and next-title (maybe even more?) villain is NOT really as much of a shock as it seems to be for some people.

 

I have to say, that even though this DLC went into places many here hope it didn't... I am content. One of the reasons I waited anxiously for this DLC was I couldn't really firmly place Solas' role is in the story. Now I do. We don't know how this will end yet, but we know it will continue, and that our efforts throughout Inquisition and this DLC will likely matter in quite a few ways. Inquisitor and Inquisition isn't done... This is pretty exciting!

Like I said, at the moment I'm very tired and I played the DLC very quickly (far quicker than I normally would play something) and it's going to take me some time to digest everything.  But the whole genocide thing?  The fact that he's all but stated to be the one who killed Best Elf?  While I don't doubt that the writing will be fantastic and I may enjoy where the story goes, I am - for the moment - finding it hard to like Solas, and very hard to still support Team Optimism (which as I'm one of the biggest TO people it's kind of lame).  I knew things weren't going to be happy and fluffy but I wasn't expecting a 'haha, I AM THE EVILS' which is the impression I got from it.

 

Thing I legit loved in the DLC: Everything to do with Varric, Dorian and Lavellan being BFFs and Dagna/Sera becoming canon.

After seeing the ending,i'm most curious on how Solas intend to deal with the false gods when they will be released with the fade,also how he managed to lock all the  others elven gods by himself?

He underestimated Corypheus and now he probably will underestimate the elven gods.

What can the Inquisitor do now? Solas robbed you of the Mark when he mutilated you by removing your arm. You lost your most powerful weapon and can't even fight anymore. Plus Solas knows everything about you and can turn anyone to stone in an instant. As of now we don't have a single advantage against him.

Yes you do- he loves you- he admits as much- and if you look at history (not video game history but actual real history) love is a great weapon- it has been used against many of the greatest historical figures of all time as a means of destroying them either literally as in killing them or in terms of destroying their power base and their reputation and many of those people like Julius Caesar are would be seen as godlike in Thedas just as Fen-Solas is

Just finished. Really liked the DLC overall.

 

Now... Rambly I-don't-know-what-I'm-feeling Trespasser spoilery stuff below.

Solas really is a fantastic character. I don't agree with the destroy the world thing, but I can get behind the idea that he does kind of want to be stopped. Redemption makes for some interesting characters... I mean, look at the love Loghain still gets. What I really like is that you do see the layers within the individual and it's not just a good-bad divide. He has bad plans, but they started from good intentions when he tried to save people. Now he's so bent on a task that he could probably lay the blade down for because, as someone above said, it tries to make up for the bad outcome of his decisions. One that he didn't have an understanding of the consequences of at the time, and one that doesn't necessarily have to be righted.

 

And then we have Corypheus, the bad guy who put a damper on the plans of the world ending. Hilarious. Good people can do bad without realizing, and bad people can sometimes save the world. Go figure.

 

I need to read some more and think about this a bit to fully understand what I'm feeling. I'm pretty overwhelmed at the moment.

 

And a not horribly spoilerish question about the ending/credits:

Was there supposed to be another stinger? I watched the credits and listened to Cassandra read Varric's book, then the screen went to a "thank you for playing" screen and then back to the loading menu. I disbanded the Inquisition, but plan to go back after I've settled down a bit and had dinner to see the outcome if you keep it. Does that make difference? Or is there not actually a stinger?

 

And above all... just how the eff are we supposed to have a new character in DA4? Unless it takes such a turn that has nothing to do with events in the DLC - which would be odd - I just can't get behind the idea of a new protagonist getting involved with certain things and people and stuff.
